Well Lighted Poems

Things That I Am Thankful For

The sky is full of thick clouds
The earth is covered with full bloom flowers
The sunlight penetrate through bounce rays
Illuminating the whole field with orange light
Looking inside like I was in a fairy tale
Inside a big box of well lighted floral curtain
I wonder if the world has no flower field
Where do the romantic people go
Where would the busy bees working
It just amazing God's wisdom work
Where the nature lovers and resilient bees met
Where the budding flowers kissed by the sun
And the pillar of clouds umbrella the earth
Isn't it magistic how magnificent He is
Where everything is in harmony with His creation
There's more to life to be thankful for
There's more to love that we will share for.

Premium MemberIt Must Be Christmas Eve

The sky is well-lighted with bright stars
The streets are littered with shiny cars
The motorists are playing Xmas carols
The children are excited ‘cause Mr. Claus
Papa Noel is coming in person tonight
To bring toys to boys who did not fight
This year and gifts to girls and gals
Who have been good all year long
Let's sing along, let's sing this song
Peace to the World, Love to the Universe
Like Nat King Cole; there is no need to rehearse.

The Game of Life

The Game of Life is Solitaire,
And you make all the moves.
You can take any road you want,
You have the right to choose.

Some roads are wide and well-traveled,
And are well-lighted along the way.
Those roads are very crowded,
For the majority walks them each day.

Then there are roads that are straight and narrow,
Not chosen by the worldly crowd.
The way is stormy, and has many pitfalls.
People walking there often cry aloud.

But on this straight and narrow way
Jesus goes before each and every one.
He leads the way, giving us new strength
To reach that Heavenly home.

Play the Game of Life carefully,
Don’t make a foolish mistake.
The wrong way leads to destruction.
Be careful which choice you make.

Pain Of The Night

There is a short story of Hemingway’s
Called “A Clean Well-Lighted Place”.
An old widower in a small Spanish town
Nightly frequents a café until it closes down.
Behind his back, some of the waiters deride
Him, because the widower had attempted suicide.
One married waiter complained repeatedly,
That because of him they couldn’t ever close early.
However one older waiter had more sympathy,
Because like the old man, he had no family.
The old waiter understood that pain in the night,
Could be held back in a place that’s clean and bright.

I remember when I was single and free to roam,
And later as a soldier deployed far from home,
That old message of Ernest Hemingway’s
About needing a clean well-lighted place.
Without love and family, life seems just sleep and work.
Solitude is most oppressive sitting in the dark.
Our connection to others helps keep us alive;
Gives us meaning and a reason to survive.
So if you have nobody, and feel the pain of the night,
Surround yourself in a place that’s clean and bright.

Oh, Little Moth

Oh, little moth, your primordial flight.
has brought you to my well lite home tonight.
Lepidopteron, master of the night,
fly quickly to the light of my kitchen,'
sit on my table, dry and preen your wings.
Your vision moth, of this nocturnal moon,
that sits upon my kitchen table bright,
leaves in question lepidopteron sight.
As you can see, this moon was made for me,
so fly up to my iridescent light.
I must admit, your flight is quite a sight,
turning, twisting fluttering as you fly.
Up to the moon in my clean ceiling tall,
or in the doorway of my well lighted hall.
Oh, must you leave? Our visit was too short!
You must forgive, my hospitality,
as I swat you off of my ceiling clean
with only this treated papyrus leave.
Oh, Lepidopteron
what is this black mush you leave,
upon my well lite clean ceiling?
Next time mind your manners!

Oh, little fly........

Hidden Horrors

The couple walked hand and hand along the well lighted street,
So in love and unsuspecting of the horror they were about to meet.

Making plans for the future as they strolled side by side,
Their love was a testimony of beauty not something they could hide.

But jealousy and anger have a way of ruining the best laid plans,
For there lying in wait between the bumpers of two closely parked vans.

Jimmy Freestom was hiding with a rifle in his hands,
Something in his brain had snapped and the devil was giving him commands.

With his hand on the trigger he let loose of the safety and readied the gun,
As he stood up to fire the lights went out each and everyone.

With no target to see Jimmy started firing into the night,
The couple took cover as their hearts were beating with fright.

When out of nowhere came the sounds of a siren and it made Jimmy run.
Now the thought hit Jimmy, Lord what have I done?

The police caught Jimmy and he gave it up without a fight,
But the million dollar question is who turned out the lights?

As soon as the police arrived the lights came on as before,
I think the Lord must have had a hand in this one, I feel pretty sure!
