Premium MemberEchoes of Silent Waves

Written May 30th for Contest by Craig Cornish

            *****************

Silence slowly dims into space,
heaves gently over words and lines
words and whispers whirl with awe
despite hindrance, I strive to spell
the range of emotions whirling—
a restless sea.

Semantics and syntax—alien to my root tongue,
linguistic rules and policies
taught in sterile settings
harvest dust while I strive for the right!

Tune in to your heart—
select the right spectrum
repelling ripples resemble ink fading into water
a wavelength for moonlight threading.

No lexicon conveys the implicit clamor of the vernacular,
woven via deft looks, we have created
our crypto-system, carved on our skin
Inscribed in whispers—
whispered through silence—
hush as heavy as viscous fog.

Premium MemberColors of Love

Love comes in all colors of the spectrum,
life's reflection of the universal light.
A wavelength of emotional emergence,
in a range from dark blue to red bright.

Love travels all colors of our daydreams,
scarlet hot, passion purple, cerulean "Blues."
Somber black can transform to White light happy,
reflecting spectrum tones of changing hues.

We experience life's ventures in true colors,
blending atmospheres of golden glow and green.
Feelings that revolve in rainbow mirrors,
soon will show which colors love may seem.

Heaven rests in Colors of Love Divine,
a warm, blissful hue of purity so fine.

Premium Membergangster and moll

they were the club’s power couple
Fred was the owner of the Gaslight Lounge
where men showed they were men
and guns settled things in disturbing ways

Shelly had walked in on a Tuesday six months ago
with her azure blue eyes and her winsome ways
Fred played it nonchalant, acted cool towards her
we bartenders knew it meant he was insanely interested

Shelly has one of those stories she is not sharing
we did not know a thing about her, except that she was on his wavelength
if Fred wore yellow, Shelly would appear wearing the same exact color
she had a second sense about him; it was uncanny and unnatural

they dillydallied around each other for a few months
we all saw the night they fell in love; it was kismet
as if they had lived several lifetimes together,
they came together like two flames of the same bonfire

they are together now, intense and passionate
both ready to pull a gun on anybody and everybody
we bartenders serve them quickly
ready to duck from flying bullets or sparks at a second’s notice

They are volatile up and ready for action.
Gangster and moll, twin flames,
they have shot up this place twice
in the last two weeks.

Premium Membercheer for yourself first

She had cheered on her friends
Helped them reach goals hither and yon
When it came to her own ideals,
she forgot what wavelength she was on.

you need to cheer for yourself too,
said her best friends, the birds.
Be kind to yourself, and use the very nice words.

Compliment yourself daily
until you laugh at your reflection
we are coming by for breakfast
and a “cheer yourself up” inspection.

An Ode: For My Mother

Dearest mother, I wish to write to thee
On this motherly day of love and glee
To tell you how much I appreciate
The role that you’ve played in shaping my fate.
For, without your patient, loving way,
I would most certainly have gone astray.
Yet with all your strength (and some of your genes)
I successfully made it past my teens,
Through those times and on to the point in life
Filled with happiness, and a loving wife.
A wife with a quiet and gentle strength
That is right in line with your wavelength.
I’ll add her to my ever-growing list
Of the things I love that, through you, exist.
Things which, like you, there is no just other
(For, to me, you’re a most perfect mother).
And so, on this day of celebration
Of mothers all over god’s creation,
I would just like to simply stop and say —
I love you Mother; every single day.

astronomers often describe
the path of their heavenly ride
far off in the distant night sky
defining what's higher than high
luminous wavelength emitters
heavenly hosts all aglitter
lost in gravitational trance
each dancing unique cosmic dance

charted starlight guiding the way
for ships sailing from bay to bay
Polaris, bright northerly guide
let Vikings plunder far and wide
bored dreamers plotted vague outlines
of gods sending out godly signs
marching celestial civilians
filling up space in the trillions

worshiped by ancient Egyptians
forger of earthly existence
ubiquitous light in darkness
warmth amid bitter cold harshness
no need for divine directive
only eclipsed by perspective
center of systems of being
without stars life's not worth seeing

Survival Is Not Frivolity

Mere faith in oneself
is not enough to build strength,
confidence makes one thrive;
leave all failures on the shelf!
Fear makes a liar shrive,
he's afraid of a wavelength!

Survival is not frivolity,
rather a required amenity
to instill confidence in us;
take grit and defy doubts!

Plan ahead your long-dreamed journey,
either in outer space or on high seas;
captains are never afraid of dangers:
how thrilling can be a new discovery!

Do I have an unabating regret to promptly confess?
It lies in this wincing and baffled soul so restless!
Adventure should have evinced my true excitement;
did anyone perceive the eagerness that wasn't silent?

Do You Have Answer-Shades

The shades of “blues” might have an intense wavelength.
It literally overshadows her “colorful seasons”.

This school champion might already realize this.
Games are not that easy in this "normal world."

An imperfect design never fits into the Fine System.
It never fails to tell her how bad she is in this.

It might be her first criticism.
She push herself hard, in this race of Infinite Perfection.
Sometimes running, chasing, breaking.
Even pleading never going to works.
It's not that easy. Right?

The more intense she gets, the more she sags and breaks.
but she is still too imperfect to get pity on her.

What she tries to do?
does she collect the shattered pieces?
that was over-walked by many without even noticing.

What… sudden gray shades in the weather?
ooh….! I think rain is going to come.
It is one of an intense, heavy rain.

Why does she still crawl over there?
Wait.. what shading her?
Is that wings, that she folded before leaving school?
Wow…! It's almost rusted, what red shades on it ?

Oh, my god, I think we caught.
 Hi...…! "May I fly again?"

Emo Girl's

In shadows she finds solace, the emo girl's domain,
With eyes adorned in darkness, a kaleidoscope of pain.
Her heart, a delicate tapestry, woven with sorrow's thread,
As she navigates a world where emotions are often unsaid.

In ebony attire, she stands against the tide,
A beacon of authenticity, where emotions can't hide.
Her essence, like a melody, resonates in the night,
A symphony of rawness, a kaleidoscope of light.

Behind her silent tears, a depth of wisdom lies,
A wounded soul seeking solace under moonlit skies.
Her scars tell a story, a testament to her strength,
A reminder that even broken hearts can find their own wavelength.

With pen and paper as her sanctuary, she weaves her inner storm,
In verses drenched with darkness, her emotions take form.
She dances with her demons, embracing the shadows' touch,
Finding beauty in the chaos, the melancholy becomes her crutch.

Though misunderstood by many, she walks her path with grace,
Defying society's expectations, she finds her sacred space.
For beneath her somber visage, a spirit shines so bright,
An emo girl's resilience, a beacon in the night.

Creation's Colours - Colab

Flowers with colours enchant me,
Buds budding and blooming,
Beauty surrounds, fills me with glee,
Nature’s way of grooming;

Critters with colours charm me too,
Paws dancing; tails wagging.
Talented tricks they learn to do,
Hear pet owners bragging.

Multicolored folk glow with light,
Kids gleam with hearts of gold.
Red and yellow, brown, black and white
God made us all we’re told.

To show God’s colours, it’s our part
To shine on His wavelength.
Charged to love Him with all our heart,
With all our soul and strength.

Looking around, I stand in awe
of God in creation,
I want to dance and shout hurrah!
Such is heart’s elation!

Author’s Notes:  Joanna Daniel wrote the first and last stanzas;
I joined in with the middle three. In writing this, I discovered
that it is the wavelength of light that determines color
and the wavelength of sound determines pitch.

unconscious minds surround us
how long must we humour them
although we are not complaining

we recognise that we don’t fit in

there’s neither desire nor aversion
that said we cannot truly resonate
or engage on the same wavelength
since the fulcrum of our awareness
is distanced from fears and desires
rooted in cravings of the mind-body

we recognise that we don’t fit in

innate zest of aliveness regenerates
eternity in each light strobe pulsating
a knowing that is for our eyes alone

Premium MemberNow That We Are Here

Let's love the Lord with all our heart,
With all our mind and all our strength,
Let not greed ever play a part,
As we tune in to God's wavelength,

Let's love our neighbors as ourselves,
But not covet things that are theirs,
Let not avarice blight mind shelves,
As we move forward without cares,

Let's love our enemies, bless them,
Do good to them and for them pray,
Let not selfishness in hearts stem,
As we walk spiritual way,

Let's love each other and obey
God's command to spread love thereof,
Let not desires stand in our way,
As we solve life problems with love.

I Corinthians 13:13 ~ "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love."

Premium MemberI'Ll Always Love You

I'll always love you even from afar.
I'll always think of you when I hear a guitar.
I'll always love you for longer than forever.
I'll always think of you as so clever.

I'll always remember your name.
I'll always think of you all the same.
I'll always remember your wavelength.
I'll always think of your own inner strength.

I'll always love you even if you don't love me too.
I'll always think about all the things I want us to do.
I'll always love your compassion and concern.
I'll always think about all the things you've helped me learn.

I'll always wait for the day you realize.
I'll always think about your bronze eyes.
I'll always wait for you to return.
I'll always think about how it is you, for whom I yearn.

Premium MemberRiding the Wavelength

Used to be a steady sound of static
Endlessly emitting from my heart
Couldn't find the right station
Honestly didn't know where to start

Itching to open a line of communication
Linking my mind with my body
Time to fine tune the frequency
Ready for a new wavelength to embody

Retooled, recalibrated, and rebooted
Signal now coming in crystal clear
Need to keep my finger on the pulse
To make sure distractions don't interfere

Now that I'm up and running
Let me lend some bandwidth to you
Make sure to attune your antenna
Let’s flip the channel to something new

We all share the same airwaves
Continuously connected through time and space
Try your best to transmit positive vibes
Broadcasting our rediscovered grace

Silver-Lining

SILVER-LINING

Cheated life occasionally yet it couldn't play even.
In life's sequel, I'm swivelled into a deep sweven.

Where's conventionality in a cosmos that's so odd?
Everyone that ever rocked my world
I've dexterously dovetailed into words;
Lyric, ballad, elegy or love sonnet occupies 2-thirds.

Every single trusted love I've ever lost
and that ignorance had collaborated with lust,
I've resuscitated in verse, stanzas & enjambment;
And ameliorated into memory or emotional strength.
Bathed in past disconsolation and the aftermath,
I've never & will never remain on the same wavelength.
