In Place of

In Place of

In place of
my head I prefer to have a
small plastic warship with a
level deck for
the setting in motion and
landing of
toy aircrafts.

Premium MemberThe Voyage by Max Burchett

by Maxwell Sebastian Burchett

Set sail on an ocean,
An unknown sea,
At times adrift, unknown destination,
No compass or charts to see.

No return to original harbor
I must sail on,
Perilous to halt, cannot anchor
In this ship not chosen.

Yet I am Captain,
And crew, and then
First Mate,
Navigator and Helmsman.

Still there are lighthouse beacons
On which I rely and depend,
And fleets I seek to join
To find my way on.

To avoid sinking in my cosmic trip
Or being forever lost at sea,
Becoming a ghost ship,
Afloat, but adrift, only me.

To sail the world as a luxury cruise
Or a warship from one battle to the next,
Decided at time of launch in Destiny’s plan
For what storms and ships will be seen on this voyage of man.

This fateful voyage
Is, of course, my life.
The charted course of this passage,
I, the captain, will sail through storms or strife.

Red Alert Red Alert Red Alert
All Hands and bodies on Deck
Our warship has been hit
The enemy’s missiles did it
The warship is going under
SOS has been signaled
One Soldier sounds a whistle
Many warships in the area
Communications retrieved
They have been transcended and received
The warship is steadily heading for the bottom
The enemy above in war planes still attacking
The Warship was able to fire our missile, and we hit one of the enemy’s war planes
Our warship no longer remains
Soldier’s loss
The enemy’s missiles were the force
Down below the warship goes
The fearless and the brave

Ginnels are cavernous and gloomy
Between smoke-stained dwellings
Under the close watch of a warship
Where the flowers of beauty bloom
abundantly available
Ugliness is merely apparent
With the likelihood of being subjugated

Fear Is a Spread Thing

Soldiers fear Warship,
Labourers hardship,
Demons fellowship,
Tribes citizenship,
Chaos leadership
Thugs Governorship
Loners long friendship
Fat Guys sportsmanship
Backbenchers headship
Men secretaryship:
Another man's Worship...

Fear is a spread thing
Mine fails not to ring.

Premium MemberWorld War Whatever

Standing on the fantail of a warship on patrol,
Its wake stretching off to from where I’d come,
Transporting me back to my first day aboard,
Three long deployments ago.

I’d learned about things like a bucket of steam,
A sky hook, and a left-handed marlinspike.
When sent below to fetch a fireman’s punch,
I came back with both shoulders bruised.

Now, beneath this cold Comanche moon,
I find calm in the grace of self-reflection,
And remember certain bitter confrontations,
Where the only honest words were angry ones.

I sincerely regret all my barbarous cruelties,
But I make no apologies for being a survivor,
While taking the heat on the South China Sea,
Waiting for World War Whatever.

Premium MemberWar-

War
In a kingdom full of combatants I heard a naval, military struggling
Combat
I am non violent And I am recovering
Death shall bring troops
'War!' said I, 'thing of jihad.'
Do they believe in God
Quite odd
And those eyes have all the warmongering
Wars
Great war - great war - great war!
Only this and a nuclear winter
Snowing atomic gluserian
That antiwar, antiwar campaign
War
I remember I was feuding
And the clans never advocating
I crave the antagonistic, calorific awareness
awareness calorific, the antagonistic I crave
War
Eagerly I looked for the disaster
War
It was castor, alabaster, vaster!
Not
I crave the warlike, war-torn warship
My conflict, I could not awaken hatred bliss
Do not enlist
Still is planing, still is planing
In there stepped a medievalist 'red army faction'
God makes love, man makes
 War

Vasamuseet

In August, 1628,
A Swedish warship sailed,
Yet on her maiden voyage
Every safety system failed.

The Vasa, tall and narrow,
Was too heavy on the top.
She teetered in the wind and then
She couldn't seem to stop.

Her trip was 20 minutes;
It took just 5 more to sink.
Though most escaped, some 30 souls
Did perish in the drink.

Amazingly, the ship was found
In 1961,
333 years since
She'd had her short-lived run.

Remarkably, they raised her hull,
Which mostly was intact
And built a new museum*
Where the crowds she does attract.

If you're in Stockholm, visit;
It's a wonder to observe,
A tribute both to Nature
And the experts who conserve.

While Walloping Waking Whale

Free To Roam

A warship she is, this ship of gray,
Underway, underway, making way.
The decks vibrate, the tone, the sound,
Un-der-way-un-der-way, the pistons pound.

On the horizon stands a singular mast,
Un-der-way-un-der-way, make her fast.
Increase her speed, begin the turn,
Un-der-way-UN-DER-WAY, prop and churn!

Balanced and deadly the guns do slew,
UN-DER-WAY-UN-DER-WAY, the radars too.
Fire first one, then pour on the rounds,
UN-DER-WAY-UN-DER-WAY, competing sounds!

Blast and shards upon the bow,
Into the waves strike and plow,
UN-DER-WAY-UN-DER-WAY, welds and steel.
UN-DER-WAY-UN-DER-WAY, man on keel.

UN-DER-WAY-UN-DER-WAY, oil n’ fire.
UN-DER-WAY-UN-DER-WAY, smoke n’ ire.
On the horizon the mast a tilting,
Over the side the splashes wilting.

Now all alone is this warship’s sound.
Un-der-way-un-der-way, the pistons pound.
Turn hard then steady, away from home.
Underway, underway, my ocean to roam.

Worship Vs Warship

We are warlords
Furnished in armours of gold
We fought with words
In many battles untold

People think it's just an error
When we raise our hands in worship
That our adversaries won't lie in terror
Except we sail in a warship

As a matter of fact
The walls of Jericho actually fell
With no single attack
I hope you've been listening well

I've seen the dumb talk
After a worship session
But so many can't walk
After a warship tension

So, the truth is
Life is more than the physical
And you find your peace
When you go deeply spiritual

A lot may disagree
But this is just my concept
More so, the world is actually free
You can focus on your mindset

Choose to battle with a warship
And lose your soul
Or stand and praise with me in worship
And keep your soul

An Incomplete Love Story

Squat tooting tugs and barked commands,
Gruff sailors straining, lines cast off:
Our Stars and Stripes glide up proud mast,
This ship, vibrating, coaxed to life,
Brown river, churning, drifts behind …

Behind, behind, where spouses mope
From vantage on the shrinking wharf;
Among them, Gail does linger still,
Her crimson dress so vivid, clear:
A fit of breeze wafts through her hair,
Frail palm she reaches out again,
Sun glints and shimmers on her ring,
Bright gem I offered from bent knee—
And oh! the tears, wet bursting flood
From eyes I’ve known since playground days,
I hugged her tight, my future wife,
But now, that bliss, our love must wait …

I hide my tears, watch Norfolk fade,
Then buoys, coast, blue ocean waves;
Gray warship, this, cuts through the sea
Yet, still, my heart remains ashore,
I dearly yearn just one glimpse more.

Fragments of War

For Aleppo

What is the joy of war if not the fragments
of blood sprinkled unholily on the ground?
Aleppo has seen this braveness and succumbed
that the testament lies in the swords and armours.
I can feel the test of your suffering and pains,
I can smell of the irony of the warship bouncing,
I saw the shape of your crying laughter;
Sharp, drowning, and, building itself a channel of
restriction in this fragments of godless war.
Make the body of your masses a holy fortune,
let them find delights in your face and soul.
Illusion of this abolished fate shall stand
when the thousand drop of those tears shall speak,
Aleppo! You can fetch from eyes to eyes
those filthy shades of darkness and imperfection.
Aleppo!! Shatter those winning ageless fate.
We have seen your tears and sorrow smiling,
we have seen the season of your song hanging
here in the throat of howling wind of shame.
Your mirror has eyes and mouth to tell the world
of those thorns that grow on your skins...
Wearing dustless of stories on your neck,
in pair of empathy we shall make your tortures
known to the world when the time comes.
