MY VITILIGO, MY STRIPS
In the mirror, I see a canvas unique,
Where patches of light tell a tale mystique.
My skin, like a tiger's, striped and bold,
Each mark a story waiting to be told.4
Vitiligo, a work of art on my frame,
A beautiful mosaic, not a flaw to blame.
Embracing the tiger within my soul,
In every pigment, I find a role.8
My vitiligo, where patches like puzzle pieces,
Makes me one of God's rarest & unique species.
My vitiligo, strokes of imperfection rare,
Yet each one a masterpiece beyond compare.¹²
Lines and swirls, a unique work of art,
Etched by nature, stitched on me from the start,
Imperfect perfection, a beautiful sight,
Vitiligo whispers, "Embrace the light."¹6
My stripes, my spots, all part of me,
A symbol of strength and identity.
Like a tiger prowling through the night,
I wear my patterns with pride, shining bright.²°
So I roam through life's wild, untamed lands,
Confident in my skin, where courage stands.
My vitiligo and my tiger, hand in hand,
A masterpiece of uniqueness, forever grand.²4

Aunt Verna really loved my benign timbre, the way I cuddled words as they came out.
Treasure troves unlocked with mystic reverence, would add a little sunshine for awhile.
How cleverly I sculpted rustic idylls as I spoke,
the warmth with which I told of beech wood log fires,
old breakfast fare beloved by homely folk I’d neatly sketch,
those settings I portrayed with just a tone.
Horizons from afar and wondrous lands, journeys from the centre of the earth, rainbow clouds I planted in her heart were warmly welcomed.
That kindly face transformed itself when taking in my poems about the sea.
She loved when salted yarns infused an image, the frothy waves and reckless storms engulfing it.
Those oceanic eyes of my dear auntie, always revelled in the surge of every sonnet, as they surfed the silver tides with magic flair.
An epic verse would have this woman mesmerized,
some April breeze would prompt a tender smile,
a butterfly bewildered would do likewise.
Spring colours could be readily restored, each time I had the privilege or chance, of transporting someone precious to an earlier enchantment,
to that time perhaps when life had just begun

~In His Eyes~
(The Minute poem)
In His eyes precious you know
He loves you so
Jesus can save
For you life gave.
God in His goodness gives option
With God I'm on
Lord hear prayers
Believe He cares.
God makes us all unique you see
His love hearts key
Just let him lead
Christ saves indeed.

We plugged the jukebox nonstop,
early 50's soft rock or jitterbug.
That open-air dance floor shook
with a beat, steady and loud.
My body rode the waves,
nerved through skin and bone,
blood pulsing hot with desire,
but too shy to try.
Friends and cousins heated
the floor in dancing frenzy,
on feet programmed by memory.
I burned with envy.
Cousin Verna said, "I'll teach you."
Later, she cried,
"I give up. You'll never learn."
40 years later, my dancing soul
still yearned, as the line-dance craze
swept the country, border to border,
and beyond. Braver, stronger,
more confident, I plunged headlong,
and proved her wrong.
I line-dance to Cowboy Charleston,
Jitterbug Boogie, and Slappin' Leather,
but I still can't jitterbug.

You were my moms best friend
and like a sister to me beacuse
you acted so young and you will always
be i know your dead but a part of you
yet remains ill always miss your jokes
and the times you sang.
I never wouldve thought
you would leave o so soon until
you did now what am i to do
I keep asking god why did he
take you away maybe it was
for the best hope you enjoy the race.
You were only 33 but i guess
ill never know i pray for you
every night until tomorrow..............
You had two boys that will
miss you indeed but i have to keep
fighting beacause its all right with the king
I know you are resting until we
met one last time i hope you
rest enough because we gotta
joke when i make it where you
are.
So we wont shead 1 tear
or make a sad little frown
because well see you ont he
other side when we all make it there.
