VALKYRIE
Valhalla, the resting place for Viking heroes
Are, in a Valkyrie’s embrace, taken when dead

His mind lay prey to mumbled threats within,
drawn to perch upon a twig-thin edge
slung between a gauze of blatant dreams.
Like some homeless bird come to make a nest,
it yanked discarded bits of skin and hair,
from bins of vain memory's hoard,
then joined to form a place where
a brain might rest and preen.
Once settled, he drank
Not from the stilled rummaging
but the distilled rum in his hand
and sang discordant notes that clanged
above the cough of fractured words.
“The mind is myth. And so am I."

The woman who stands before you,
She sheds her armor,
To shall her honesty,
The truthfulness of her heart.
Her pure of heart.
She takes charge.
She never backs down.
She let's them see exactly who she is.
She leaves it all out there,
On the ground for all to see.
She's a hero.
She's a savior.
Yet, she only sees herself,
As a simple woman who,
Supports her sisters in,
The dark days ahead as we all,
Try and fight for what is only ours.
She is a mother.
She is a sister.
She is a wife.
Above all sheis a warrior.
In my visions I see her as a Valkyrie.
Oden is by herself.
He believes in us.
He fights for us.
I hear the war cry.
I visualize the shield maidens,
Hearing their war chant as I see,
Them grab their armor,
Shields and their swords,
Getting ready for war.
The Valkyries stand before us.
No words are necessary,
As she holds the elixir of war,
The bottle of elixir in her hands,
The war paint.
The war chant continues.
They started this and,
We will finish it.
I visualize all this as I,
Finish writing the bill.
I bill I will introduce to Congress,
Titled "The Valkyrie Bill."

Sings her unearthly endless songs
songs without words, like the lullaby of the wind
endlessly repeating the same note
repeating, something exquisitely intangible
like the echo of an echo
...Or the flapping of an angel

None to comfort none to save
Broken splendid total naïve
Battle worn and leather bound
Gasping groaning final sound
Mixing rapid blasted fine
Frontline wasted shattered mind
Fusing cordite steady burn
Starflight wonder past return

VALKYRIE
Oh, say you my love
Whom rides the skies on wing steed
On through eternal twilight
Keeper of dead gods
Holy redeemed warrior
As sword Valkyrie reigns

oh valkyrie of wings and feather,
line by careful line
axe by axe
beautiful woman.
The heavens are your home;
you walk upon the stars,
unburdened by expectations
duty
opinions.
Beauty in the midst of carnage
valkyrie in the midst of battle
Fearsome angels. Monstrous. Lovely.
oh valkyrie of curves and edges:
sharpness. Tempered steel
forged by fires of Hel.
Your body is yours alone,
no man would dare tell you
shame you
guilt you
You are Woman, divine
ethereal being, conqueress
warriors.
Blood of battle drips down the
delicate curve
of your neck. Sharpness gathers in your hands.
The axehead spins
— who will live, who will die?
oh valkyrie of strength and beauty
woman of war
do not falter, do not fall
fly on,
soar.

In days of yore, when Vikings vigorously reigned
Beauty of the Valkyrie, vixen of intoxicating dreams
The maidens chose a paladin who departed and gained
entrance into Valhalla, they were Odin's esteemed
Beauty of the Valkyrie, vixen of intoxicating dreams
Goddess to serve her warrior - immortally embraced
Entrance into Valhalla, they were Odin's esteemed
Under her soft touch, favored men - tenderly placed
Beauty of the Valkyrie, vixen of intoxicating dreams
The maidens chose a paladin who departed and gained
Goddess to serve her warrior - immortally embraced
In days of yore, when Vikings vigorously reigned.

This female three
Of Norse myth
Bring their chosen ones
To be with
The fallen ones
In the afterlife hall of the slain
Where in Valhalla
They will remain
These daughters of royalty
With their ravens so black
To be with their warriors
Who can't go back
These einherjar
Bravely, in battle died
Where they feast on the Saehrimnir
Viking pride
Herja, Svipul
Herfjotor, the three
Attested to
Norse Mythology
The chooser of the slain
These Valkyrie select
To live with the gods
Ultimate elect
As they enter the hall
Beside Odin and Thor
Baldr, Bragi
And Dellingr
Not to become gods
But in Norse afterlife
To die by the sword
In battle strife
