Indians eat with their fingers
That’s why the smell of curry lingers
A gentleman who still eats pie
ought to be wearing bib and bow-tie
Looking at a Hostess Twinkie
my thoughts turn rather kinky
They say you are what you eat, Jake
I see you been eatin’ fruitcake
Mom’s cure for eating too much chocolate
Keep the pantry door shut
Side effect of using too much oil
Paper plates get soiled
Garbage in, Garbage out, Mr. Crustacean
Hope you don’t have constipation…
Logic is nothing new.
It tells you "false" from "true",
and you just can't ditch it
no matter what you do,
like something on your finger
or something on your shoe.
Newspapers can be logs for the fire
or non-functional rolling pins
Obsolete as white-stockinged town criers
along with typewriters ~ has-beens
I SEARCH OF A DESTINY
BEYOND THE REACH
OF WHAT I KNOW
BRIGHT AS THE NEW DAY
THAT HOVERS OVER ME
LIKE AN AIRY CLOUD
THIS BITTERNESS
THAT LINGERS HERE
TAINTING MY HEART
CLOUDING MY EYES
THE FEAR THAT MAKES ME TREMBLE
AND SHAKE, THIS MESS I AM
CANNOT KEEP, CANNOT DRAG ME DOWN
IN SPITE OF THIS
I CARRY ON
SEEKING THAT POT OF GOLD
BEHIND THE RAINBOW
I MUST WAIT FOR THE STORM TO PASS
IT IS FREEDOM I LONG FOR
THE HEAVINESS OF DOUBT
THE DENSE FOG OF LOSS, LIFTED
LEAVING ME IN OPEN FIELDS
TO ROAM
SCATTER THE EARTH, PALE CHILD
HEAR THE CALL
THE WILD SHOUTS
COME IN.
2001
Life blooms from a flower
Like a book flipping open
Spilling sunflowers and roses
On memories in deep oceans.
Fires rage and blood red burns
Endless fields and inchoate urns
Unformed babes and solid tears
Time runs deep with timeless gears.
Death sprouts from a seed
Like a fountain sputtering
Spraying ink and deep grey clouds
On love behind the pendulum.
Jesus didn’t come to earth
With a great treatise
Instead He took a little child
And humbly sat him on his knees
‘Unless you become
Like such as these-
My kingdom you won’t see!
Those born of my spirit
Are to be like the breeze
Uncomplicated
They simply- just believe
Oh ye of little faith-
Consider the lilies of the field
How they grow- all beautiful
And radiantly dressed
They did not toil or spin-
Yet Solomon in all his glory
Was never so beautifully arrayed
And in his wisdom
He could only cry-
‘This is what I have found-
Fear God – and keep His commandments-
For this is the whole duty of man’
Jesus says- seek first God’s kingdom,
and his righteousness; Then all these things
shall be added unto you.

If love is a chemical reaction in the
brain
If attraction is simply chemistry
If the right substances binding and
exploding,
Combining and conquering,
Coursing through my effervescent
adolescent veins,
Conquering my conscious and
unconscious actions,
Consuming and possessing me,
caressing me,
Turning my blood against my better
judgment,
Compelling me toward a clearly
catastrophic,
Clearly cathartic and exotic end,
Can make me a doe-eyed,
endearing lunatic,
Then...
If I'm just along for the ride on a
careening mind trip,
Then let me stop to sniff the
flowers.
hellow fellow travelers,
i come to you from a far place in a small boat that i carved out of a tree from my fathers
land that he planted before i was born-
so i am here
and with me is a bag of pearls
hard won from the depths of the sea --these i have counted and polished and they are mine
but to those who can recieve them i offer them freely. i have given many only to see them
trampled by the proud and arragent. i am humble thowas a prince in my land.so know this i
will trample the arragent and proud yet share my bread with those who are humble
and they will call me friend as i will call them
so i invite you all-- let us be friends
