Terrified Poems

Terrified

Feel hurt.
Deep in my chest,
like a sword that cuts into my ribcage,
Rips me open,
Fear trapped,
cold insistent,
persistent,
Heart,
that beats fast, while I close my eyes
And I try to sleep,
But inside I want to scream.
With the rage of the storm,
in a dark sky full of lightning,
Full of fury,
Tears stream,
Wet face, bad dreams,
Paws that claw at my lungs,
Knots,

Premium Memberterrified husband

Crunch of her shoes fascinated the hallway
House had been empty way too long
Husband waited, expecting her to open the door
Masked, dressed in black, intruder entered bedroom

Husband reached for his glasses
They were cowering under the bed
Stranger walked over to the bed and leered at him
He had no way of knowing who or what this was about

Wife

Premium MemberTerrified by the green gob ghostie

the door had a magical mystical medieval look
adored with verdant mosses, vines, snails and turtles
my throat pounded with heartbeats as I approached
the knocker intimidated me; dare I disturb the occupant?

the wind picked up; the skies darkened, it was going to rain.
If I was going to get any shelter, it might be from here.
I lifted the

Monsters are sitting around staring in horror at the TV
Feeling terrified by what they have seen and might yet have to see
These creatures are horrible, they tell each other
Watching a political convention that would shake up the calmest grandmother

Dose the laughter of a thousand maniacs shake you from your sleep.

Dose it wake the demons you try to run away form
And the secrets that you keep.

Is your pillow wet with sweat from fear that disturbing
Your sleep

Or is the dampness on your pillow from the tears that you weep.

Do you lie awake praying for the

Recurring Dream

Darkness cold and heavy
Sweat droplets on my face
Eyes darting back and forth
South to north
Up and down
I frown
I stand colliding with a wall
My hands don’t work at all
I fall
Hold my knees to chest
My breathe does the rest
My anxiety creeps up
Goes down just to buildup
I’m

The Terrified Child

Maybe I should forgive him,
Maybe he has changed,
But every time I try to
that terrified child within me sheds a tear.
She never wanted any of that
She just wanted safety.
She cries as I try to wash myself of the dirt
The dirt of childhood, the grime of adolescence,
I scrub until the skin is red and

Show Us

I wallow and sit
My heart a pit
A seedless thing
What do you bring
Can you change
How life is strange?
Can you show
How life will go?
Will you free
Me from the hatred I see?
Will you bind
And change my mind?
These little glimpses
That good accomplishes
A broken heart
Tore me apart
Love healed me so
Till I let go
Will you show
Me how to glow
To be the

Premium MemberTerrified of Scarecrows

he jumped down and chased me in the dark
You are a maniac! I yelled. This is no lark!
He is just a scarecrow, not a mean shark.
Response from sister who was not chased in the dark.

I have had dreams of this scarecrow ever since.
Terrified by this nightmare, said my cousin Vince.
I understand I say, staying as

A relation that is going from a long time.
But people get scared of it.
The mountain that screaming.
And saying come with me.

Everyone is scared from because of his powers.
But a faith that never brokes.

The faith is our hope.

Premium MemberTerrified of the Kitchen Rat

Kitchen rat with the ugliest pinkest tail
Jumped on the table and drank Daddy’s ale
I was frightened for he was as large as me.
Where could I hide? Under a cup for tea?

I slid into place with the cup on my head.
Holding my breath, for I felt nothing but dread.
Kitchen rat turned the cup over and said,
