The Bus

The bus is only practical
If you’re not in a hurry.
If time is of the essence,
Then your mind will fill with worry.

Aside from all the local stops,
The passengers board slowly
And don’t know how to swipe or tap –
Annoying! Holy moly!

A number are quite elderly,
While others come with strollers
Or luggage clogging up the aisle
Or shopping carts on rollers.

If you’re in luck, your driver
Will be practiced, moving fast,
But more likely he’ll be insecure,
Afraid of squeezing past

All the trucks and taxis double-parked
And blocking up the street.
You’ll sit there knowing you’ll be late
If someone you must meet.

It’s better on the subway,
Though, of course, it’s underground,
But it’s best if there’s a walking
Destination to be found.

When we build
                    for everyone,
                    everyone wins:

		The ramp helps
                    not just wheelchairs
                    but strollers,
                    delivery carts,
                    tired legs.

		Captions help
                    not just deaf ears
                    but noisy rooms,
                    second languages,
                    different processors.

                    Multiple ways in
                    mean no one
                    stands outside
                    looking through
                    locked windows
                    at learning
                    they can't reach.

                    Every entrance
                    leads to the same
                    beautiful place:
                    understanding,
                    belonging,
                    growth.

                    Design from the start
                    for every brain,
                    every body,
                    every spirit
                    that walks
                    through your door.

Premium MemberRiding The Bus

Your mood changes depending on the time of day
In the morning most are restless with nothing to say
In the afternoon that when the annoyance starts
With loud school kids and drunks from liquor marts
You try your best not to give too much eye contact
It's loud cell phone conversations behind your back
The seats are constantly signed by a street gang
So-called men won't get up for the elderly in pain
There's always passengers who want to ride for free
And seem to bother others and won't let them be
Parents get on the bus with strollers big as beds
Also there's the deranged that didn't take their meds
Anger is always displayed by someone's bad speech
The stop requested cord is always to far to reach
Then you have the strange ones who likes to stare
Sometimes riding the bus can be a total nightmare

New York Vibes

Whitecaps on the water,
Gentle cooling breeze.
Circle Line with tourists
And a lack of jetting skis.

Babies in their strollers,
Joggers on the run.
“Ice cold water!” seller,
Thinking summer’s not quite done.

Trucks on nearby bridges,
Pigeons pecking ‘round;
Such a lovely afternoon,
Where New York vibes resound.

Premium MemberIn The Moment

There is nothing to distinguish
this day from any other

down on the beach
children splash into the shallows

dogs sprinting after soggy balls
flung from loose limbed strollers

while swallows carve the air
with cursive dashes

how easy to forget
this scene will keep repeating

in all the seaside towns
long after you’ve departed

your breath and essence
mingling with the salt and spray

for today observe your pleasure
then exhale in silent thanks.

A City Bus or Train

Ride a city bus or train
And you will get a sense
Of humankind of every strain -
Behold the evidence:

The old, the young, the thin, the fat,
The handicapped, the frail,
The homeless, jock or spoiled brat,
The baby set to wail.

The strollers hogging too much space,
The walkers inching past,
The bodies crushed up everyplace
Until your stop - at last!

You exit, glad to be outside
And grateful you can walk,
But that's the price you pay to ride
On transit in New Yawk.

Premium MemberSwirling Aural Vision

I
awake
to swirling
aural vision
a dawn nirvana
dazzling shades crisp allure
from earth to faraway sky
clouds that drift, float and harmonise
birds that scatter leafs on green clad trees
imposing mountain peak’s peerless zenith

Early morning horde salute day ahead
zestful footstep mandate for gumption
fervour under the sun-drenched copse
Water sprinkler’s icy spray
cast in rainbow droplet
wet haired strollers grin
beyond a douse
dream colours
gold reign
now

The Sunlight was Playing

The talkers were talking,
texting.
Walkers were walking,
skipping, jogging.
Strollers were shaking,
prams rocking.
Kids were shouting,
yipping, yelling.

The pond went roundly around
a circling ground of sound,
shorts on bicycles
were lazily wheeling.
Girls were sky-larking,

He sat under the sun,
a drowsily winking sun,
eyelids heavy and closing.
lashes flickering, tickling.

Sunlight was playing,
Shape-shifting his thoughts,
images
that turned around and around
the ring-a-round pond,
while he slowly melted
into a sleepy smile,
over there somewhere,
where no one looked to see.

The City Market

~City Market~

The smell of popcorn, burned hot dogs, and sweat invaded his nostrils as Jason pushed his way down Fuller Street. Past vegetable carts, homemade pie stands, and the booth with carved wooden bears holding ‘Welcome signs’. He weaved around baby strollers and people who thought it a good idea to bring their dogs for a walk through the shoulder-to-shoulder traffic. He entered through the back of the jewelry stand and sat down at the table.
“How’d we do?” Sheila asked.
“Pretty good shopping day,” he told his girlfriend as he emptied the wallets and watches from his pockets.

The hand of a friend
Can wear the glove of kindness
Evil wears a mask

Premium MemberGolden Dreams

Yellow daydreams are so vivid and bright.
As daytime strollers, revel in the light.
This wish is magnified by the golden hue.
As we indulge in its golden bliss anew.

Captured by the constellations at nightfall.
Our aspirations transcend and never stall.
By the light of the moon gentle glow.
Onwards, our golden dreams will flow.

There are countless possibilities in this world.
Where we are free and our dreams are hurled.
With excitement and glee, our emotions fly.
As we fulfill our hopes for a free nation defy.

We will not be stopped by hardship.
As we chase our goals in every car trip.
With every step, we draw closer still.
To our golden dreams, we will fulfill

So let us embrace our golden dreams.
And let them guide us alike sweet beams.
There's no limit to what we can achieve.
If in the power of our dreams, we believe.

Unrestrained Hatred

I have often seen perfidious faces
wandering through dark hallways
without showing any human resemblance:
ah, is it envy, ah is it jealousy;
or an unquenchable absurdity
that doesn't admit their open obstinance?

Unrestrained hate can turn us into unrecognizable monsters,
and these demons must carry out the plotted massacres
to be satisfied with the vengeful evil inflicted upon the strollers,
no pity is shown while the flesh gurgles with blood and shivers!

What should be the right penalty? Face death, or remain chained?
Before pulling the trigger: are we aware of the consequences?
Each person is responsible for their behavior: it's an ample hatred
never quenched by vengeance to feed its atrocious thoughts!

Unrestrained hatred can turn us into unrecognizable monsters,
who loves others never commits horrible acts of madness;
hey, do you love your neighbors? Hey, do you say, " Good Morning "
to them and wish them joy through the day with a happy feeling?

Premium MemberHalloween Harvester

In Halloween week once the days have turned dark
He lurks where the lamplight cannot leave it’s mark
And late night dog walkers whose dogs do not bark
All steer a wide path as he harvests the park

By day he is nought but a grass covered mound
But a light in the night would show flat level ground
His nocturnal quarter a shady enclave
And there he will wait for the dim…. or the brave

This giant whose mouth is a ravenous cavern
To vacuum up strollers too long in the tavern
Each rushing home to an ill-tempered wife
He fillets their bones with no cleaver or knife

His yawn reveals hundreds of stalactite teeth
His tongue is as rough as a storm ravaged reef
And with hunger sated he shall not be found
As he rests for a year as a grass covered mound
