New York Vibes
Whitecaps on the water,
Gentle cooling breeze.
Circle Line with tourists
And a lack of jetting skis.

Babies in their strollers,
Joggers on the run.
“Ice cold water!” seller,
Thinking summer’s not quite done.

Trucks on nearby bridges,
Pigeons pecking ‘round;
Such a lovely afternoon,
Where New York vibes resound.

Sunday In the Park
Dogs of every shape and size
On leashes pass by, prancing,
While breezes from the river blow
And set the leaves to dancing.

Balls are tossed and trees are climbed
As sweat-stained joggers, bouncing,
Make tracks around the strollers,
Like their fitness they're announcing.

Families and friends converse
And benches fill, inviting
The readers and observers
And a certain poet, writing....

Sunrise To Sunset
Sunrise
Yawn ~ stretch
Sidewalk
Beckons
Just like
The Ave

Old cars
Toot horns
Golf carts
Phart phart

Start run
by sea
Four paws
Prance high
Joined by
best friends

Strollers
Glide babes
Mom coos
Dads proud
Kids skip
Teens glance

Buckets
Spill shells
Grandmas
Grandpa
Hold hands
Strolls slow

Sunset
Quiet
Seagulls
High call
Good night
Sleep ~ peace

Melting
The snow is melting in the sun
While strollers stroll and runners run.
The thaw, it feels like, has begun
But we can’t get too cozy.

For way before the melting’s done
And kids have had their snowball fun,
The weather wheel just might be spun
And things won’t look so rosy.

In wintertime, we jump the gun
And think that somehow we have won
When it warms up, but it can stun;
Tomorrow might be frozy!...

Sense of Touch - Contest
A riot of colors blinds me in their wonder
fall decks the park with dazzling yellows and cool greens
lush crimsons thriving in sun's embrace
pale lilacs are young lovers impassioned in rapture.
Sun's warmth cuddles babies in their strollers
I stroll enchanted, though lost around winding trails
I wish I could be an artist dabbling in my easel
inventing new tints, coloring myself purple.

Autumn Afternoon
Bright blue sky, fluffy clouds;
People in the park.
Warming sun, gentle breeze;
Hours ‘til it’s dark.

Craft fair on the avenue;
Pumpkin ice cream cone.
Everybody seems content,
Including those alone.

Orange leaves peeping through;
Folks and canines pass.
Families with strollers stroll
Or picnic on the grass.

Places where the climate
Stays the same are not for me.
Autumn in New York, I think’s
The perfect place to be....

Fall Roulette
Wayward wind whistles while it weaves A magical maze of colours Through rustling red rampaging leaves, Gems not found in all jewellers, Down they dance on startled strollers; Falling freely in the fast breeze, Garnet gold do a pirouette, Bare branches stick out in tall trees, Creating silent silhouette, Telling it's time for Fall roulette. 10.14.2020

Round and Round
Pep-talking walkers were strutting.
Round ladies were jogging,
strollers pushed by
the quick and the plodding.
Teenage girls flouncing.
A ball thrown still bouncing.
Kids were shouting,
shouting.
The pond went round and around,
a circle of sound.
They were texting, yelling, tripping.
Kids skipping, noses dripping,
flip-flops scuffing.
Round and round the people went,
while the sky made a big round-eye,
and I feebly clinging
to its edge....

Summer Evening
Ice cream in hand
I let my hair fly
in warm summer breeze
It’s nine in the night
The sun witnesses
folks walking their dogs
dads pushing strollers
kids riding bikes
or shooting hoops
runners pushing hard
neighborhoods abuzz
with excited life
Then I think
the same hour
in winter
So dark and lonely
with no signs of life
And I walk some more
Then sit in the porch
to watch the sun set

There is nothing to distinguish
this day from any other

down on the beach
children splash into the shallows

dogs sprinting after soggy balls
flung from loose limbed strollers

while swallows carve the air
with cursive dashes

how easy to forget
this scene will keep repeating

in all the seaside towns
long after you’ve departed

your breath and essence
mingling with the salt and spray

for today observe your pleasure
then exhale in silent thanks....

I
awake
to swirling
aural vision
a dawn nirvana
dazzling shades crisp allure
from earth to faraway sky
clouds that drift, float and harmonise
birds that scatter leafs on green clad trees
imposing mountain peak’s peerless zenith

Early morning horde salute day ahead
zestful footstep mandate for gumption
fervour under the sun-drenched copse
Water sprinkler’s icy spray
cast in rainbow droplet
wet haired strollers grin
beyond a douse
dream colours
gold reign
now...

A City Bus or Train
Ride a city bus or train
And you will get a sense
Of humankind of every strain -
Behold the evidence:

The old, the young, the thin, the fat,
The handicapped, the frail,
The homeless, jock or spoiled brat,
The baby set to wail.

The strollers hogging too much space,
The walkers inching past,
The bodies crushed up everyplace
Until your stop - at last!

You exit, glad to be outside
And grateful you can walk,
But that's the price you pay to ride
On transit in New Yawk.
