Premium Member Lizzie Borden Set Straight

Lizzie Borden took a hatchet,
because, in case you didn't catch it,
she didn't need that long a handle.
Sincerely yours, Dave Crandall

I BELIEVE

I just wanna fly away
From the places
Things and people
That breaks me
Slow me down
Or give me a setback.

I believe one day
I'll get out of the dark
Back on my feet
Picking myself
From the bottom
Straight to the top.

I believe I'll get there
Where I want to be
If I keep moving towards
My direction relentlessly
With a solid mindset
Steadily focusing on my goals.

Premium Member Straight From the Heart

I picked the mails from the letterbox
I saw the handwriting on the envelope
My heart skipped a beat with a flutter
I opened the mail and kissed the name
  that you signed
Love letters straight from your heart
I read the letters again and again

I smiled as my imagination brings to
  the fore
Memories like
At the smell of your fragrance,
  I drew a deep breath.
I imagined our hands clasped in a
  two fold hold
My heart and your heart fused in
  a cupid inferno
Only waiting to be ignited in a combustion
  of love.
It's love letters straight from the heart.

You're going to feed me.
Not going to cost me a dime.
This is for how long?

Upright Straight Awake

Last night I wandered in a dream
as dark as any pit my brothers cast me in,
and three shadows rose like men with hardened hands,
approaching as if to break the spirit the Lord preserved.

Their footsteps thundered on the ground of sleep,
and fear—sharp as the desert wind—
tightened around my chest
until even my breath felt stolen.

But I remembered the God
who speaks through visions and midnight stirrings,
the God who lifted me from prisons
and from the snares of those who meant me harm.

So I tore myself awake—
as one who bursts from chains—
and the dream faded like chaff on the threshing floor,
powerless in the morning light.

Now I stand, heart steadying,
knowing this:
Not every dream is a prophecy,
and not every terror is truth.

Some are only the remnants of sorrow,
shadows testing the strength of the soul—
and the soul, upheld by God,
endures them all.

Premium Member Straight from the Wolf's Mouth

The Big Bad Wolf, in a voice so gruff,
said, "haven't you heard that one enough?
I ventured out into the wild wood
to find one Little Red Riding Hood.
It's a long story, but anyway,
I should have eaten her straight away."

Life traces no straight line

Ill fate I call, luck lingering on chance,
Others may call it law of seeds and sprouts,
And yet others, destiny's dappled dance,
A thing when duly happens what use doubts?
And karma clings to catch up with the life
To dish out platefuls of pickled fortune,
Or life of frustration, of sour fruits rife,
Dark rainy clouds or sunshine of mid June.
Life has to learn to live with Providence,
Which, like a river flows as is meant to—
To meet ocean— how making little sense,
For, destiny leaves blueprint nor a clue.
Life traces no straight line in curvy space,
Rejoice still, no atom seems out of place.

Note: If something happens, how and why are matters of philosophical debate. But something happens, we see it, where are the doubts? Remember, even chaos has at its core some method in madness. One has to live in a curvy-linear world of no straight lines.

Just straight knees

Sundays and Mondays
The identical teacup
The same sunrays
No shades of gestures
No laughter
To react to the stir
From the slightly
open window
Only the threat
From the scriptural gates
Submerge the vessel
Into the ocean
Avoid the slip
Remove the bees
Just straightened knees
And the tranquil sea

Premium Member Be Straight With Me

I can handle the truth if you give me a chance
Your trying to control the situation in advance
You're telling me everything but what I want to hear
Being honest is one way you show you're sincere
Don't beat around the bush and be straight forward
I know seeing my reaction can be quite awkward
Knowing how you really feel can give me that release
Just communicate with me and give me my peace
They say the truth hurts but it also heals the pain
Telling multiple lies to ease a situation is insane
You can't control the way I deal with your news
To play mental games with me is one way to lose
Keeping it real with a person is the way I know to be
Spare me the deceit and just be straight with me

Premium Member Mixed Drink Sets Raccoon Straight

Hawaii is the place, raccoon decided, loving the idea of course
He sold his farm, plow, tractor, combine, goats, pigs and horse
Ran to Hawaii to sit on a pink beach and enjoy the sand
He said to his mixed drink, I have found the promised land!

The mixed drink began laughing and could not stop.
You have not seen the prices here, he said. They are at the top.
You should have waited until summer and bought a flowered shirt.
And stayed in Illinois where the houses are as cheap as dirt.
