Premium MemberMantenna

Lately my mantenna are twitching more than usual folks
the prophecies are surely uncloaking
time to batten down the hatches
the second flood is lapping on the doorstep
clutch your loved ones to your chest
Its nearly midnight, the world is on full tilt
nuclear pinballs ricochetting off
bent flippers of black hearted madmen
They will not lead into battle
they'll just push a button to begin the cleanse
They want to speed up the blender of Armageddon
In the meantime, enjoy the day
have a lick of your favorite ice cream
watch the fireworks display
God bless, most of us anyway.

The Reaping

After "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe

how long shall I be dreaming
of this place where darkness abounds
who shall lift me gleaming
show me your light and heavenly sounds
(or are you the reaper, coming for my eyes)

none then come to douse my sorrow
can there be such, so morbid as this
a smile or a whisper, could I not borrow
a scent, enchanting laughter, one last kiss
(oh reaper no need for a raven disguise)

the wind howls at me, hurling shadows
I am but one step from the door
I think of her and my heart slows
this loss is eating away my core
(oh reaper why seek so my demise)

incessant, ticking time peace on the wall
speed up now for this lonely lost soul
take me from this sorry night’s thrall
ah but I see, can I ever again be whole
(I forget reaper, you own these night skies)

why then contemplate matters so grave
surely shall my spirit soar again
and yet my love I could not save
this place forever then a place of pain
(come on then reaper, together shall we rise)

Premium MemberLET US BE ROAD BOUND

Let us disembark,
Leaving Middle Passage holes,
Let us hit the road:-

God is our engine,
Motoring us up the way;
Hope and faith fueling:-

Time waits for no one,
We need to hit the pedal;
It’s time to speed up:-

With eyes on the prize,
Let us shift to overdrive;
Mountaintop ahead:-

The sun is rising,
Palm trees palisade the road
The dream arriving:-

Premium MemberTHE RIVER

From the moment of our birth…as we compose our daily rhyme…
we are free-floating on a river…a river we call time.

Somewhere as we’re floating…perhaps in a moment of silent reflection…
We realize this river of time flows at one speed…and in only one direction.

We accept these restrictions created by this stream….
knowing if the current ever stopped flowing…
we’d have no memories…no dreams.

There are times of sorrow, however, times that make us cry
times of tragedy and disaster…
when we wish that river of time would flow along a little faster.

There are other times, however, times of great happiness and joy
perfect moments that make us smile….
when we wish that river would slow down…or pause a little while.

But wishing time will speed up or slow down…leaves us disappointed and frustrated…
because we know that’s not how time works…not how she was created.

So we do our best to enjoy the ride as we float on this ever-flowing stream
content to turn our moments into memories…and our wishes into dreams.

Escaping Death

Escaping Death

(written in a mental hospital)

I escaped from Death today,
And I don't know what to think.
Because when Death comes round and round,
you start to feel his scent and stink.
There are others counting on me now.
I can't let them down, this I know.
So close to Death and yet, so certain-
now I'm back to life, if just a little while
to finally pull back the curtain.

Still others only see- the ghost
that walks these halls forbidden.
I don't know how to talk to them,
the horseless carriage is hidden.
My pen feels broken,
still it flies against the page once more.
Swirling new tales in ink and bone.
Yet my ghost, she still sings for home.

Morality and death
hang over me.
Still, I'm used to these things.
I try to speed up the hour I'm closest to hell.
But as I creep ever slow,
the witch rings her last bell.

You can only listen to a cd once,
then the magic is gone.
But it still lingers in your ears,
in the mind and in heaven
their voices still ring on.

Premium MemberA Time of Day

Then you saw me, now you don’t
When I’m close, a time of day
Goes much faster, but it won’t
When I’m sent away
Now more time surrounds you
And of course, more space
Doing what you ought to do
You don’t see my face
The whole difference of that
When I’m not around
A bit more of time you get
And a less of sound
You don’t have to speak and smile
You may laugh no more
You can walk a country mile
Like you did before
You preferred to sent me off
Cause I was too near
Probably this kept you of
Other things, my dear
Now you hide away your face
Through the day I think of you
Days slow down their pace
Like they used to do
When we gather, days speed up
Looks like life goes on
Faster, and each day erupts
In its own time zone
If sometimes you think of me
In the evening time
Call me on, and there I’ll be
At about nine.

Sanity fair

Oh
That's strange
Shh quiet
Internal system
Do you all hear that
Does it sound or seem like she
Is at peace today
Quick
Someone do something
Make her think
Of anything
To disturb and irritate
Her serene state
Quick hippocampus
Flash a memory
Of the most
Painful moment
You hold of hers in
Her safe
Hey, Heart
Make her feel
Like she can't breathe
With every beat you make
Air,
Speed up
So she has to constantly
Keep up
There now we have disrupted
Her attempt
To attend a
 Sanity fair
Phew
Great work team
But wait
Is she mediating there
Hold on
I thought we paralyzed her with fear
Why is she acting
Like she has the strength
And that our old tricks
No longer work here
Hello
Internal System,
anyone there
Great,
I think I am talking to myself
I guess
She finally got help

Premium MemberDealing With Grief

Nothing can erase grief
Or speed up the healing process,
But, writing about it can keep you aware
As you go through it,
And offer some solace
As you wait for time
To do the rest.

Premium MemberRoad Block

The flashlight shines upon my face as I hand the cop my
driver license.
police cars blocking the road, Singles cop behind the wheel
let me through
not who they are looking for
I wave and drive on
not knowing why or even what was going on
and now my window won't roll up
technology
A few miles into the darken night
my headlights show the image of an hitchhiker thumbing
for a ride
I speed up and pass him by
not tonight on this road
a few more miles and slam brakes
road block again by a fallen tree
huge tree not just blocking but crumbling old road
bad night for a dead phone battery
Back up and turn around down the road on the side police cars
with lights flashing, cops handcuff hitchhiker
I slow and drive by and our eyes meet
the suspect and me
If I gave you a ride freedom was blocked by a big tree
his eyes told me were he wanted me to go
stopped and waved, told cop about fallen tree
Looks like I have to go the long way now
Try the window again still stuck
and it begins to rain.

Raindrops 2

Quote by poet: "Love child of Cloud & Air, Raindrop holds a sea of bliss & ire."

Clouds saunter along this low mountains
Caressing all the tall trees, they murmur nice on their way.

Moving as to go away, they speed up to hug
Again just to split to dance pretty once again.

Ah, tall trees do love the clouds, sway more
When they see them carry a thousand drops of rain.

Choicest drops are those that stay and slide on
Them from top to toe, Grassroots blushes away.

Jealous air steals off these clouds to lower place
It rains and rains and rains here, Mawsynram is its name.

Leaves here wear raindrops Twelve months a year
Rain is at home, for Sun ah! this is awkward in-laws place.

Time escapes

Time is a funny thing,
A fluid, jumping, bumping, running thing.
It’s something you can never catch,
You beg for it to speed up, as time drags on,
And you’re just waiting, and then…
Bam
You’re on a speeding train hurtling along a track.
You drag your feet and try to turn back.
You beg time to just slow down, turn back
Let you savor the journey.
One moment you’re a kid, begging time to just speed up,
You want to grow up fast.
Then all of a sudden, faster than your head hits the pillow,
You’re an adult watching time speed past you.
Everything is moving too fast, and life is too short.
Your kids grow up faster than you did, becoming adults in the blink of an eye.
And you wonder
Where did all the time go?

Premium MemberI Wait

The holidays are done- I wait
for warmer days, bright Sun and Moon-
and Winter to speed up its gait.
Please Spring, begin your rebirth soon.

With barren landscapes and cold snow,
the Sun departs late afternoon
and fills those hours without a glow.
Please Spring, begin your rebirth soon.

I miss the scents of the Spring breeze
and birds all singing a sweet tune
as buds start blooming on the trees.
Please Spring, begin your rebirth soon.

The holidays are done- I wait.
Please Spring, begin your rebirth soon.

Premium MemberNot His Time

I am young but I have grown up
some, and with a new job set up
now, plus home and car all got up
here, thanks to how I was brought up.

Interviewed with the higher-up
then, the foreman and I met up
and, got things before I start up,
turned, the crew gave me a thumbs up.

The work, like my past jobs, speed-up
so I had no time to warm up
cause, 'twas busy now we're caught up
in time for lunch, we all eat up.

'Twas a great first day as we wind up,
... byes and smiles that just lift me up.

Premium MemberRelativity

Time clearly moves faster as we age
(as we slow down and the years accumulate),
for the simple reason that each unit becomes smaller
relative to our life.

At one year’s old that year makes up 100% of our experience,
while at four it becomes 25%,
at fifty 2%, and at one hundred just 1%...
And so life races on, an avalanche of sorts
of all we have accumulated.

It’s simple math,
but just as our situational awareness places our body in space
(and thus helps us drive, as the car becomes an extension of us)
so are we placed in time
by all the years contained in our body-mind.

And yet, inversely as we age there is less of us to go around
less of our neural net to spare for new experiences and memories,
and so those of our youth remain formative
sometimes larger-than-life
while the present as we age become ever more fleeting
insignificant even, to the point of senility.

So, life goes on, within us and without us,
and our experience of it speeds up as we slow down
(and so correlatively slows as we speed up);
Einstein had a simple theory about this
which maybe came from just observing his life.
