Diagonal snow
Glides effortless through
the countryside of the
Amputee windshield
For the passenger side
Has always had a reticent view
Steam rises loftily
From a topless treat
Of gas station coffee
That which further
Obfuscates the scene
Mousey and silent
Each flake falls
Like the wings of
An owl unhurried
Speckling the air
With flurries of tiny
Feathers
If snow is a blanket, is the
Earth a frightened child?
Is there a force, a specter
So haunting it summons
A crystal storm that beguiles,
Sure, a burden to some
But a spectacle for all.
High beams undress
The night, slipping away
Its silken onyx sundress
In its unblinking gaze I
Recall conversations with
Someone I no longer see
Hoping for fireplace romance
Surrounded in snow globe scenery
I try not to live
in the squall of regret
Even if every drop
Falls so softly, I must
Simply keep my foot
On the petal, and listen
To the engine’s counsel
Its kind whispering pistons.

I sit in quiet and see the sunlight speckling through a magnolia tree.
I close my eyes and hear the buzzing song of a honey bee.
I listen to the tunes of the starlings and blackbirds choir.
I see the buzzards soaring over in the summer sky go higher and higher.
I sit in awe and relax to contemplate.
My mind and my heart join to explore this fascinating state.
A subtle breeze over the lilac tree.
Sends an aroma of intoxicating beauty over me.
I watch the beetle climb the wall.
I see the red admiral come to call.
I watch my cat sniff the scented air.
I feel more alive sitting still in this golden lighted air.
I take a sip of my Yorkshire tea.
I feel a deep and rewarding sense of serenity.

A Winter's Sonnet
From a heavenly atmosphere,
Feathery ice sculptures appear.
Mingling snowflakes crowd together,
Each flake unique with character.
Speckling fluffs in rhythmic cadence
Float down in luxurious silence.
On top of each, they accumulate,
Bending tree branches with their weight.
Softly fall the snowflakes around;
Lightly alighting on the ground.
From clouds above to earth below,
Continually falls the snow.
Airs an impresario’s show,
Absolved of braggadocio.

Autumn in the leaves
Speckling change
with crisping dew
when a season done
with green
(as earth's sky
paling blue)
putting to rest
the old
making way
for God's new;
I finger the age-spots...
other blemishes
nature's obvious rots--
preparing for
again our spring
touching the ring
I still wear
for cherish--
such vows
were never made
to perish
I rewrite, with death
we do not part
for no temporary
a true heart....

she lingers,
forever embedded in my memory,
the most beautiful girl I’ve yet to behold.
the epitome of all things lovely:
sunlight filters through the window,
speckling her freckled face with golden sun,
in her flaming hair,
shimmering sunbeams,
ethereal as that of an angel.
perfect and soft as a gently rolling stream,
her voice caresses the air,
with melodies comparable to nothing on earth.

Allowing great alembics access over hill and glade and brush and dale of mind and swimming softly through the river running up fantastic meadows speckling valleys round the bay ensconced by lighting strikes and thunder booms across the Roman sky above the Irish ground and all throughout the savage peasant towns of lies of great and small import but all the time of luscious past and pregnant present and the future’s wide embrace of mighty life.

For what do you beg my attention in wrath
Shall I now be a god to your vile misdeeds
Your promises that foamed your vowels in froth
Your habits promiscuous, your base creeds
Shall curse now your flat fear of withering breasts
Of sagging skin with creamy mildew speckling
Will this wash his putrid scent from your stained dress
O rage to see you stagnant and fast wrinkling
Your hubris too much to make a stage of shame
The brazen vixen the gods have frightened, hence
Turned she to me, adding more deceit to blame
And mongrel you dig to hide the evidence.
Yet in truth if mongrel defines all you are
Let me bone, or garbage overturned. I can
Not without my vixen live, we have one star
That makes us same, the gods also understand.
And where you are wrinkled I find the more crease
Where my tongue may suck until all flesh is taut
And your honey drips like milk and never cease
Lie to me that time is eternal then lie with me
And let us crnkling sheets like sea, in sweet wave
Rise, like two sounds to form one melody
For your beauty that rules makes me your fawning slave

Orange bulb lit firefly,
Silhouetted scaffolds delude my reticent pace
Speckling lights flutter to my grazing eye,
Across a barren waste.
Lonesome night breeze crispends forward gaze,
Tomorrow’s evening builds on and on to a swell.
Hopeless hope listens less to reason, but only mad lovers craze.
Only by tomorrow’s touch will such emotions be quelled.
Longing day falls onward, draining every ounce energy welled
‘til yet once more does my sight jump
to dim lit sky, lined by five lights, gas filled.
And cackling crow stands perched on former electrified stump.
What sorrow song do you sing?
Such sorrow to tomorrow, keep beneath your wing.

"The Friend"
I own this stereotype.
Heavy in belly, soft tall demure,
Trying to saint the boxing sinner.
Mother loved, father manly worried,
I wander passion for unrequited state.
The socially unapt gazer, debating intent.
Waiting on the whom,
To confess rapture, for my scenes.
Then it came, love.
But time shorts bliss.
I slowly bleed its demise.
Insecurities constricted affection object.
With every needy utter.
How addictive,
The insecure mind, as it yammers meekly,
"do you still love me".
The dreamer price,
Is the distorted I,
with my grey speckling on my
"want to be cool " chin.
I dream less, and bitter for it.
When friend to lover, then told a mistake,
I leave hungry, Partner Full.

Eggs whites strew across the evening sky, anticipating rain
Brown fluff interspersed with white, folding across the horizon
Hints of orange ribbon bleeding through the gaps of blue
Grey smudged along the edges, like a painter's afterthought
Cool breeze caressing my hair like a lover
Finger combing it off my shoulder to expose my neck
Leprechauns leap beneath leaves dancing across my path
Faerie torches speckling darkness like dots before my eyes
I walk in solitude drinking in the smells of autumn
Fall approaches me like a forgotten friend
First hints of raindrops kiss my eyelids
I raise my face gladly welcoming her bequest
Summer is put to bed; contained deep within earth's bosom
Nestled inside the heartbeat of yesterday's blessings
Tomorrow is soon enough to wear my mittens
Today I want to dance freely to the melody of change

Drops dance around,
speckling the ground.
This path I walk,
if only it could talk,
me,
full of fears,
treading on natures' tears
Relentless rain falling,
softly so.
I hear my calling,
is it me?
feeling so low?
Help me lord!
For you did hear my cry,
do not let me fall on my sword.
Let rain stop,
let me dry,
on this path I walk to the top
For, this hill is steep,
I am in my deep,
rain falling,
nature and I, both weep
I look back down,
puzzled frown,
for I see,
many footprints there be.
That's when i realised,
you walked,
you walked, with me
This path to the top,
I realise won't stop,
for accompanying the rain,
I walked with my pain
When I reached the peak,
rain evaporated,
pain dissipated
I find what I seek,
I feel elated.
No longer wet to the bone,
no longer weak
no longer alone
