Some pondered ways
to pep-up the pulpit and pew,
but disinterest and ennui won the day.
The clergy went away to get help
and never came back.
Eventually, thunder and sleet
cracked stone, spire, and gable;
neglect, and the cold winds of time
nibbled at arch and buttress.
Where once was a stained-glass light,
weeds and mildew weathered to a moldy rot.
Where once the hems of cassocks swept
now mice and spiders rest or nest,
and baby bats roost in the rectory.
There In a dusty belfry
owls hoot and solemnly perch.
Walls crumbling to niche and cranny.
Amid all this spacy ruin
jackdaws lay their speckled eggs,
while in the misty moonlight
homeless angels fan dance
upon feather-light, slinky legs.

They brought me to this spacy place.
I am dragged through spells of horror.
With intermittent drips of emotion.
In this chilling arena.
Where I am forced to watch the others on their rotting trail.
I hope to leave them all behind.
Sacrificing nothing but my guilt and tears.
I am sorry I refused to share my hope with everyone.
But you are all too ravenous.
And I must protect my normalcy.
Or else I am just like all of you.
So I zip up.
And walk back through the waiting room.
Hoping someone is waiting for me.

Ways to pep up the pulpit and pew,
gave way to ennui.
The clergy went away to get help
and never came back.
Eventually, thundering sky's cracked
stone, spire, and gable;
neglect and cold winds
nibbled at sculptured arch and buttress.
Where once was a stained-glass light,
weeds and tree-bones reach.
Where once cassocks swept
mice now nest
while above, priestly owls perch.
Eventually, walls crumbled
into niche and cranny.
Amid the spacy ruin
Jackdaws laid their speckled eggs -
angels fan danced by moonlight.

at 70mph you can slam the car into most anything &
it will be the last time you do it---
you don’t need to putt putt putt along at any less a speed
or pound that lead foot down to push your vehicle to the
max,
no, 70mph will do you
good.
at 70mph like spacy in “american beauty” or cruise in
“jerry mcquire”
with the wind blowing in our hair & a scream in our
step.
half-way to 140mph
we increase & close our eyes
rip, roarin’ & ready to go into
what others may in fact call oblivion but you & i
consider
just another walk in the park---
a moment in which
with the stereo blaring &
the passing by of the elements outside the vehicle
we are one
with the good possibility of it all ending
closer to freedom than
ever before.

Some days I feel all fine and great, but some days there are just too many
decisions to make.
Some days we’re sad when we would rather be glad. Other days we fight
everyone even the ones we like.
Some days are quiet and our hate just can’t fight it. Most days we’re just tired
and we’re afraid we could get fired!
Some days we’re scared when we should be getting prepared. Some days
we’re spacy like we have been tripping daises.
Some days we’re confused when we would rather be amused. Some days we
lack concentration and everything we heard was mistaken.
Some days we’re full of joy, but by the end of the day this feeling soon
becomes destroyed. Some days we act like a baby crying when everything gets
crazy.
Some days your friends just aren’t enough and you don’t know who you can
trust. In other words SOME DAYS are better than others.
