SOMNOLENT SLUMBER

I slumbered, half-dead, lost in oblivion's night
Unaware of my surroundings, a fleeting, fragile light
Sleep, a battleground where life and death entwine
A struggle to survive, a war to reclaim the divine

But when I wake, the night's dark battle's won
I've emerged victorious, the morning's golden sun
And when I sleep, unbroken by the day's fierce strife
I've conquered the day's battle, a warrior's hard-won life

I rise, hale and hearty, with morning's vibrant dew
And praise my Maker, whose mercy saw me through
I fought the night's dark battle, and prevailed to see
The dawn's triumphant glory, a new day's destiny

Oh Lord, my God, guide me through the day's ordeal
For many rise with morning, but some will not reveal
The battle of life's crushing weight, its merciless design
Many will fall, but I, oh Lord, will rise, with heart and mind.

Somnolent Eyes Awaken

with somnolent eyes
i fixate on these droplets
streaming down
my windshield
like lost tears
trying to find a path
to my lips
as i thirst for warmth

unanchored thoughts
adrift in my mind
falling harder
than this rain
of ashen skies
leave my lips
athirst in ardent desire
as they search
for the press
of yours

i linger
as i embrace desires
unfulfilled

peering
through downcast eyes
at the tears
raining down
as they touch
my awaiting lips
less passionately
than thoughts
had hoped for

i am somber
like this day

Go to sleep now
No need to fear old fears
Keep sweet dreams company
Void those harsh pains again

Roll over on your bed
Rest on soft pillow trance
Relax in fast getaway
Let thoughts cease to bite

Forsake this glorious madness
Slip away into slumber
Somnolent moods conspire
To leach out bitter gall

Upon a path beyond this
Make mystic magic moments move
Drowsy dreamy delights dance
Heart heals hurling huge hurts

Such is our sleepy lot
Hollow upon hollow
Slipping away to rest
To rise like the Phoenix once more

Sleepy hours drift with breezy air,
Oblige stray rest that floats in lull;
Meet slow sure sift of lazy flair,
Note dizzy fest in drowsy cull;
Outline the quest to find new lot,
Live in the light of calm that stays;
Embrace the fest as ideas plot,
Niche a fond sight in dreamy sway;
Touch a good feel in moments sure.
Heed then the pulse of snores that style,
Obscure the chill where warm seeds pure,
Urge deep impulse in unseen smiles;
Rise from this nap to a new zest,
Sense a firm snap that spurs the best.

Bamboo pines sway
Cold winds slide
Rain on the way
Moist air glides

Old moon gate arc
Cold breeze blows
Wet rain drops mark
Moist air glows

The sudden rush
Shelter sought
Rainy moods brush
Wet report

Rain can now fix
A wet form
Moisture can mix
Aqueous norms

Bamboo trees wet
Cold clear squeeze
Weather now sets
Cold cold breeze

By my window
See this show
Wet afterglow
Sleepy flow

Heavy eyelids
Drooping daze;
Blur fatigue

Hot weather
Sleepy eyes punctuate;
Somnolence

Well-fed bout
Too much food;
Sleepy convulsions

Eyelids heavy
Drowsy excursions;
Dreamy ESP

Chatter in slow motion
Awareness in decline;
Afternoon nap

Rapid express
Snoring sensations;
Roomy context

One by one
Figures tumble;
Sleepy exposure

Painful waiting time
Dental appointment;
Fatal extraction!

So many things
Left unsaid;
Good conversation

Drowsy listening
After lunch break;
Learners half asleep

Crowded space
Edgy moods prowl;
Silent rage sparks

Extra dry drought
Wild fires burn;
Smoke and ashes

Take a walk
Make some small talk;
Stiff indifference

Crowded street
Lonely faces;
Anxiety engineers

Busy footsteps
Crowded mall;
Noise pollution

Brief glance
Beauty meets beast;
Bar stool permutation

By crowded footpath
Old cripple cries:
Help me, buy tissues!

Day time escapades
Sunday morning jog;
People street hog

-somnolent Sun-

-Somnolent Sun-

As the sun sets, into
a somber crimson sky,
radiant beauty shines down
on those who cannot fly.
Inspiration gleaming at this
moment caught in time,
creating a soothing memory,
instilled within my mind.

Filling the Earth with the
warmth of her heart,
while setting away,
committed to her part.
She slowly fades behind
the horizons of the bay,
with promises of return,
for another day.

Somnolent Days and Restless Nights

Somnolent days then restless nights sleeping on the floor.
Eccentricity is custom, conventional thinking an allegation.
Should each sunrise shine dimmer than the morning before?

A photograph of wickedness captures the allure.
Creation falsely proven, all eyes suspicious of truth.
Somnolent days then restless nights sleeping on the floor.

Smooth are the wrinkles of the aged like pebbles on the shore.
Some think of eternity in frivolous masks with replies halfhearted.
Should each sunrise shine dimmer than the morning before?

Locked in this cruel world a Savior is knocking at the door.
Desperate friends accuse each other of holding the sacred key.
Somnolent days then restless nights sleeping on the floor.

Where once the believers were thought to be a bore,
The blessed fool’s reflected death humbles his haughtiness.
Should each sunrise shine dimmer than the morning before?

Fools we all are searching for light in our minds’ dark corners
Somnolent days then restless nights sleeping on the floor
Should each sunrise shine dimmer than the morning before?
