Snowman

on a bright clear winters day
as I took a walk across the land
pass the yards where children play
there was a snowman that I could see

crafted was it with great care
eyes of black coal with carrot nose
a plaid scarf around its neck
with branches for its arms and hands

and it was formed with tender care
and filled me

Thaw

I have a heart too warm
for a body of snow.

My torso went out first—
The buttons before my chest 
dropped into the soil.
One by one, they stripped me tenderly.

—I feel exposed.

My limbs were the next to leave—
Technically I only had
arms that once traced words in frost.
The damp branches—they landed right beside me.

I couldn’t reach them, of

Ivory Flakes

Ivory flakes fall down in place
Of salted tears on somber face
Took all my love and left me ice
Wasn’t enough to make me cry

You snatched my soul years ago
With hot kisses that now are cold
Was warm with charm and I miss it
Alarms now warn you are narcissistic 

I made a mistake in trusting you
Sadly I say

Holiday Fun

Frosty the snowman needed therapy.
There's a problem with my olfactory.
No matter what scent wafts by,
Or what cologne that I try,
It's only carrots I smell, don't you see?


There once was an elf by the name of Zig.
Who, unlike the rest of the elves, grew big!
Rather than stay and not fit, 
He stowed on the sleigh and

A Snowman on a Snow Job

Peppering down, like too much salt, 
the world's grounds are draped with deliberate deception.

All
"snow"men
now and then
overwhelm us.
"Will warm, wet weather
motivate more meltdown?"
Answer is axiomatic -
"Nature's non-negotiable."

Frosty the Showman

Perhaps earth will be lovingly kissed
With snowfall at a time such as this
To grace the holy day
Jesus was laid in hay
Our first and most blessed of Christmas gifts.

A short lifespan, a joyful lifespan
For Frosty the cold, winter showman 
With hat, scarf, pipe and gloves
Provided with much love
From children who adore a snowman.

Slowly, sadly, snowman melts

Is Santa Coming?

Is Santa coming?
Can you hear above
Are reindeer running?
Bring presents of love
Why’s mother crying?
Cradling her son
The world is lying
No peace for anyone, anyone!

Is Santa coming?
Or is it a lie?
No one is smiling
Although we all try
That noise above you
Is not quite what you think
That sound above you
Is killing everything, everything!

I thought this was the time of year
When

Spring Snowman

Crumble in
Do your thing
Guilty love
Get no rest
Cry for good
Do your thing
Melt, spring snowman
It's what you do best

Holiday Humors

There once was a snowman named Clyde, 
Who melted and nearly just died! 
With a scarf and a hat, 
He looked rather flat, 
Now he chills in the fridge, safe inside. 

A reindeer named Fred took the sleigh, 
He thought, “I’ll take it my way!”

The snow man stands deadpan under the faint
Glow of the lamp, his scarf damp as snowflakes
Fall ‘round him, the land grim--isn’t it quaint?

Christmas nights

Snowflakes fall on a gentle breeze,
A snowman stands beneath the trees,
His arms wide, hoping all will please.

The bells ring and carolers hum,
While stars dance, and the nights grow numb,
The laughter echoes, warm and dumb.

Lights gleam on trees, so crisp and bright,
The snow falls soft, in quiet flight,
The snowman smiles, content with night.

snowman takes a loose ride

Snowman takes a truly loose ride on a Canadian moose
Christmas tree on his ankles, moose looks like a goose.
We saw them in the forest with snow falling all around.
Some landed on my head, but there was more on the ground.

Willie a Velvet Snowman Doll

Willie a winking velvet snowman doll delights me in a way
He came to live with me on a blizzard-laden day
Not likely to melt at all, he is made of material so warm.
Loving him to pieces has not brought me any harm.
