God made her as his gift and she, once laid
beside the luscious, tempting limbs, acceded
to profane acts under God’s Sacred Tree
and slurped the ill-timed juice, the god-damned seed.
She gave him some; and he did not refuse
her, joining instead the mutinous ménage
against the Trinity. They tasted heaven
and in that moment bit the dust
of earth.
And now they curse: they curse the Interloper
who came and threw their timing out of joint,
spilling truth - with lies - all to seduce her;
they curse their God for what He gave them - choice.
And since that time, engorged with sweat and dust
they dread the right to choose more than their lust.

Two giraffes were invited to tea
But they couldn't fit through the door you see
So they went to the window
and put their long necks right through
And they slurped up their tea with glee

At the country club a sight for sore eyes
Brunch with the bunch and giraffic surprise
Two tall orders, son of a gun
It surely beat the hole-in-one!
Anticipating sharing a slurped prize

In the realm of self-interest, a curious soul,
Could not adhere stamps, sans wit owning a role.
His tongue, like a rover in arid terrain,
Lingered on whimsy, a scoffing refrain.
Precision eluded, in blindfolded dance,
Tongue franking an effort, missing each chance.
The stamp, a library of lore unbespoke,
His tongue still meandered, lost in each stroke.
Like giraffes when they strain ~ reaching treetops,
His sealing endeavor was a clumsy hopscotch.
The stamp lay there mocking, a coaxed witticism,
Tongue still missed the mark, a terrible tourism!
Metaphors clung, but not on the letter,
A longing unfilled, his tongue never got wetter.
The envelope sighed, craved wit's lifting brew,
Yet his tongue frolicked, having wandered no clue.
He licked and he slurped, as though miming delight,
A grand postal crime, a federal plight!
Metaphors piled up, unsent missives distressed,
His sense of himself was a bewildering behest.
In the spirit of levity, a story confided,
A stamp unadhered, a metaphor provided.
When engaging with mail, overcome by caprice of,
Just leave the attempt and go buy self-adhesive.

I first heard about Teacup Spigot Alley from my cousin Sally.
She had been there many times to sip tea and dilly dally.
Two pink macaws were slurping down sugar lemon tea.
One gave me a peck, the other completely ignored me.
Are those faeries? I asked my cousin Sally, who knows all.
She laughed at my ignorance, but her tale was told tall.
Wingless faeries? She said Who ever heard of such a thing?
We slurped down peach schnapps tea, it had a wonderful zing!

The quick fix had worked so
She slipped the needle away,
Her little liquid friend that helped
Through each long working day.
A toot of the horn told her
He’s out there with her lift
For her to work the punters
From the pub leaving shift.
Only a whore they said
When the body was found,
A battered shop mannequin
Lying on waste ground.
With their numbers cut the
Police couldn’t do much more
And, as the papers had said,
She was only a whore.
Somebody said there
Was a child somewhere
Quietly and efficiently
Taken into care.
Three girls at the funeral
Hardly a significant memoriam
Then she was ushered off
To the local crematorium.
A cup of tea in a cafe
In memory of a working mate
Quickly slurped down as
The afternoon was getting late,
The girls went back to work:
With their habits to feed
Any fear they may have felt
Overcome by addiction’s need.
Not high class call girls
With upper class clientele
Just a poor exploited women
With only one thing to sell.
So, Austerity still rules,
Unfair decisions are made,
And poor women are still driven
To the rough end of the trade.

Towering
Heavenly wood
Mount Olympus
awaits
Hermes hustles
Wings flailing
Seeking higher ground
Elemental gossip.
Aphrodite's eros oozes
bombastically from the cargo net
onlookers salivate.
Poseidon glares from the pit
monitoring his realm
for rapacious rambunctious rascals.
Apollo's mirth emanates
atop the monkey bars
emotions elevate.
Ares hangs by fingertips
below
scanning for signs of his
next blow.
Persephone checks herself
slide in-view
wandering if she'd ever get that
tattoo.
Hades peers up through the cracks
from down bellow
Lamenting on his bad boy role.
Artemis finds her center
in no time stat
balance beam barely buckles.
Sticky quicksand
swallows my feet.
The arena's stacked.
Better get a move on
Mom's sure to call
grape juice slurped
bugger all.

Sweet Eater was pink from the inside out.
We saw her coming and we all gave a shout.
She had a sweet disposition she never did pout.
But she ate our pantries and our kitchens out.
She devoured cookies, she devoured bread.
Her cheeks got pink and her teeth got red.
She slurped up frosting, and she ate our cheese.
She could barely walk on her corpulent big old knees.
She’s coming! We yelled, getting out of the way.
She usually appeared on the third Thursday.
She liked sweets especially, our food was not safe.
She’s a glutton! Said our cousin, Mr. Rutherford Rafe.

After weeks of vegetarian snacks
a part of him was still searching city dumpsters
for chewed-over Big Macs.
Then in a moment of weakness
at the County Fair
he purchased one greasy Irish pork sausage
so sweet and thick -
it was on a stick.
Deliciously it licked his tongue
with a fulsome,
sweet succulent fried meatiness.
H actually swooned
over its savory, lick-able tenderness.
That night in restless dreams
he slow-cooked two more of them,
pork drooled, dripping from his mouth
- a kind of porcine phlegm.
Night long he slurped
upon the suet of his soul
only to awake
hangry and left un-whole
for those pork bangers
were still banging in his sleepy head...
and so he arose to deep fry
a large, peeled turnip in almond fat,
and sadly sucked upon that, instead.

the dogs were happy
did not have to dig deep
in bomb craters and
makeshift graves
they licked at pulverized bones
and liquefied brains
slurped up the proceeds of war
and roamed the street
sluggish and flatulent
saliva dribbled as well
from the industrial military complex
fused joy with sore fingers
from counting the money
Dmitri wondered
what had become of his folks
and where the flowers had gone
before he pegged his rag doll
to a skull bone that floated
in a sewer of lost hope
his young soul was confused
with reality and fake news
and yet his scarred mind
was never far from revenge
as he waded through carnage and destruction
he found remains of his pet
and smeared a bloody reminder
on his feverish forehead
picked up a land mine
and bode farewell to one of his arms
because the weapon exploded
never one to cease with belligerent ease

I once had a nanny named Sue
Always loved drinking Mountain Dew
Loudly she slurped,
And then she burped
After she had sipped on the brew.
I once had a nanny named Rosalee
She loved to rock me on her ample knee
Rosalee up and died
I cried and cried and cried
But I know she is in heaven with Thee.

When I went to the zoo,
I met Snoopy the Scooby Doo.
We walked around singing our doggy song.
Then Pluto came along!
We all slurped our Slush Puppies.
Our K9 crew looked funny.
Then Winnie The Pooh caught site of us
And he invited us home for honey...
Who knows what friends you will meet too
If you go to the zoo!

An interesting neighborhood study group
Full of old men and women who often snoop
One had left to take a dainty poop
Leaving the rest of us twisting into a loop
Toilet paper! She yelled with a whoop.
In a minute, we agreed, sending in Dog Snoop.
Madge began to dance, sing, and hula-hoop.
Others ate their pie and slurped down their goop.
Said old man named Jimmy Shoop
Would you like to help me build my chicken coop?
Me you mean? Asked the sweet one, Dog Snoop
Glad he had joined our neighborhood study group.

Let's see, how many cups of coffee
Have I slurped in my sorry lobby
Thousands I'm sure
Leaking from my pores
Like trillions by now more than a hobby

Heart Throb
I slurped at the buttery sauce.
It dribbled corner to corner.
I said “Serve it at bed
With fatty pork and bread-
And hide it from the coroner!”
