Lesson 42
X marks the notion
Yonder, purpose is dearer,
Zealot in motion.
Ah, you've finally found it!
D'oh, in the rear-view mirror......

Premium Member Not a Great Start To Our Outing
Zipping along toward the zoo that day
Zealot Zebra started to play.
He should have been watching the right-of-way.

Zoom. Zoom. Zoom. We began to pray.
A zealous cop made us pull over and stay.
Not a great start to our outing that day....

Premium Member Daffodil Night
Fragrance in moonlight
traveling the moonlit miles
devout daffodils
Sunshine zealot, and later
the thrill of the starlit hills

Shades yellow and cream
and orange and rosy pink
plum daffodil night
Romance is in the charmed air
in galaxy unaware...

Your Sickness
Where's the zeal in being a zealot?
Single minded entities always
Forcing, pushing, constantly attack.
Keep your sick. altered, mechanistic
Ideals far away from me.

Thanks but no, I can think for myself,
No need for your help
Feels like the Crusades- believe or die
Look and see I’ll never be
Your brainwashed puppet...

41,
Sleep’s enemy is the racing mind.
The girl gets caught in judging
Viewing kaleidoscope unkind

He’s better
She’s an idiot
I’m furious
They are malicious
All vicious

Up throughout the night
The girl keeps pain cycling
Love suppressed by might.

Who’s tortured: not idiot or false friend.
The girl becomes a zealot
With no peace to make it end....

The Zealot
The zealot was a man of convictions
Believed he that he was on the right
All others but him were perishing
Self righteous he loathed others
Believed himself chosen anointed

Transgressed he on the commandment
Love.. he only had for his own self
Penance he believed below his station
On matters of faith concieted he believed
That the creator was of his religion...

Premium Member Death To Death
. . . I stoned the lord of death to death
we lye, now, side by side

as

effigies of who we tried to be
among countless
revolutions
among countless
massacres

evaporating into mixtures
of all who passed
that day, united

beyond soils of new shoots
I, a deserter
I, a warrior
I, a beggar
I, a zealot

with the lamb
gathering stones . . .

I Can
I CAN I met a man, Let's call him Peter Pan; When I came in, He flew out; When I came out, He flew in; But he really was always - Round about; Just hiding here, and there - A zealot. I knew one day that he would Tell it; Like it is, And more to boot; One can never be sure of, A man in a suit. That's why I love, My Peter Pan; He makes me feel, That I can!

It Is Not All Philosophical
Another afternoon being brave,
chasing clouds
down drifting earth embers
for freedom.
Grateful glances hurry humbly
into imminent jubilee.
Juxtaposed kindly,
knives loosely lacerate
my mind;
never nearing opulent offers.
Perhaps Philosophy's
quiet quandary
renders reservation so selfishly
the technique
underscores useful
valuable variations?...
Why waste extreme excitement
yawning, you zany zealot....

Spiritus Vitae
Short in stature,
long in fight,
the zealot stood his ground

The odds unfavored,
no end in sight,
 victory still unfound

The daylight haunting,
the body count,
the field a sea of blood

A bugle blowing
for one last charge,
advancing through the mud

With force depleted
but spirit whole,
his voice heard far and wide…

“Into the jaws
of certain death
—for glory now we ride”

(Villanova Pennsylvania: September, 2020)...

Completely absorbed,

the young zealot rips his foe

limb from bloody limb. . .

      From his parents’ TV drones

               more talk of terrorism.

Premium Member Sand
Silky soft sand
a zen garden
dutifully raked
organized
but fluid.

Rock solid concrete
a straight sidewalk
purposefully aimed
determined
and rigid.

Silky soft sand
a seaside beach
eternally shuffled
chaotic
but natural.

Rock solid concrete
a fluted pillar
anciently built
weathered
but stoic.

Silky soft sand
a pliable mind
persistently curious
unmolded
and alive.

Rock solid concrete
a zealot view
insistently settled
decided
and dead....
