My grandmother's voice
Contained her grandmother's voice,
An ancient lullaby.
The Yosemite Valley
Took million of years to form.

Bugs Bunny:
a cartoon character who was more than just funny.
His way of dealing with rivals was shrewd.
Yosemite Sam always came out worse in their feud.

On a hunting trip Yosemite Sam
shot up a loose can of spam
didn't taste like his usual venison
so took for precaution a spoonful of medicine

Yosemite
Frozen precipice.
Just around the bend…watching.
The white valley rests.
Glistened by the noonday sun.
Famous mountain waters fall.

by me kyle walker caycay son for fun not contest
Yosemite Sam
always stumbled upon a jam.
Each time he would yell ' tarnation.'
Altercations most have caused elation.

Bugs Bunny
Was smart, witty and funny
His tag line was what’s up, doc
Rivals would just stare and gaulk
Yosemite Sam
Made bugs and his buddies scram
Dubbed them all as mere varmints
He had a keen eye to their footprints

what trump and pence will do
again did notice
we would find under table
bottle of water
Jim Horn
Do not know why but Trump
and Pence had placed a bottle
of water under the table that
they both were sitting at. He
had called Thailand Thighland
and Yosemite Yosemight.
How about that?

Big Hat Envy
Wish I could wear a
Big jaunty hat,
But haven’t the head For it
And that is that!
Head’s too small
And I sure ain’t tall
Little short legs
Big schnozle and all
So I’ll go through life hatless
Accept what I am
Otherwise I end up looking
…Like Yosemite Sam...

Yosemite’s huge boulders
Sliced in two in the Ice Age
Half Dome and El Capitan
Both carved by a sheet of ice, a glacier
Peering down from the mountains
Buttercups grace the valley
Where deer come to graze at dusk
Worlds of wonder wait at national parks

Verse
Yosemite enchants us with her beauty,
And throngs take two-dimensional pictures
To fill 8x10 frames and social sites.
She speaks with water and light, but only
iPhones listen – for few sit quietly
To hear her murmurs of mystic meaning.
She remains but a photo-op and her
Spirit breaks – she pleads, ‘Hear me, please!’ as
Granite-rim tears smear her mascara.

A unique vision through the camera lens,
Portraits of nature in black and white.
Letting the beauty of contrast speak.
The California Coastline, the Sierras,
The Southwest..all in the starkest outline.
And Yosemite, whose grandeur he loved best.
A life spent capturing these wonders
Letting his work inspire; an incentive
To protect these treasures for all our tomorrows.

Free verse
Wildfires rage in Texas,
Like they need the added heat;
And thirty shootings in New York
Made Labor Day complete.
Famine grips Somalia,
And the U.S.A.’s caught spying.
In Egypt, at Mubarak’s trial,
Witnesses are lying.
Eighteen in Yosemite
Have died while on vacation.
Victims of the hurricane
Are wracked with indignation.
A rainy day – I stayed indoors
And caught up with the news.
As if the rain were not enough,
The Times gave me the blues.
