Just a special white rose
reposed in a sea of blue sky,
together our pride flutters in the wind.

A Yorkshire terrier in Coral Gables
should be honored in Aesope’s Fables
When a brat stole her bone

Moral: Your victim just might turn the tables!
Somewhere on the North York Moor
Pedal almost through the floor
Engine soon began to roar
Eighty miles per hour for sure
Death comes quick on the A64...
To wander through Yorkshire dales
Or wend in watery wooded Wales
Lean into wind of lowland moors
Or eagle watch on Highland tors
To find my selves again agrin
In druid sweet perfection fin

A Farmer standing against his fence
was hailed by a rambler crossing his field.
“Is this here Bull safe?”
The Farmer replied

The poets from Yorkshire are best
That’s where I come from – you’ve guessed.
Though our words can get tangled
Like your smalls in the mangle
Phew! – That’s quite a load off my chest!
First, I start with soup and bread:
A lentil porridge,
And then turkey breast and veg
With Yorkshire pudding -
Plenty of gravy -
Washed down with
Ale!

A Pastor restoring a picture frame
needed to replace some gold leaf,
upon asking the girl
at the Hardware shop.
“Do you have any gilt?”
She replied
“Sometimes it’s overpowering”

A tourist
stopped to ask a local dalesman
the way, after being satisfied
with the directions given,
the local was asked if he had
lived in the village all of his life.
The local replied
“Not Yet”

a Pastor upon reading his sermon
was unconcerned when some of his flock
began to look at their watches
but grew a little more apprehensive
when removing them to shake violently
to see if they were still working.

Watch your Latin and don't let the cat in
Caesar had some jam for tea,
Pompei aderat.
ille, illa, illud,
but I'll have Yorkshire pud.
amo, amas, amat
Who let in the cat?
hic, haec, hoc
The mouse ran up the clock.
You can add another item
ad infinitum.
I loved you once, Jenny Teapot,
Until that love turned sour.
You poured the finest Yorkshire Tea,
On the hour, every hour.
But the love we had, went off the boil,
In a most disappointing way.
Betrayed by your affections,
For Darjeeling, Assam and Earl Grey.
a single white rose
purity gained victory
red rose in death throes
The County of Yorkshire England.

When Sunday dinner is through
There’s something you must not do
Don’t flush Yorkshire Pudding
It could cause bad flooding
In toilets - wee paper or pooh!
Inspired by story on Sky News - you know me guys I just couldn't turn down the opportunity to do a limerick!

BLACK ETERNITY
Long ago Yorkshire was different.
We walk five miles from the cabin to the village pub,
Pitch black moonless moors and six voices laughing.
Close stars almost so bright we can touch.
Into darkened village,
Push open pub door,
Music and light spill into street.
Seems like yesterday today.
