would it still be poetry

What is poetry…well
Y’know, like when
A thought is captured by an idea
Held hostage
By a pencil
Interrogated
By itself
Answering wordlessly
If I knew
……………would it still be poetry

Alfonso Arana

We spoke that day as I drove you home,
you tried in your broken English,
I in my broken Spanish.
Your poetic paintings
wordlessly move me.
Never have I
met a more
gentle
soul.

Adoration

wordlessly the gift is given
proffered by an upturned face
silent recognition as the eyes embrace
of intimate connection
an acknowledgment of grace
which brought two lives together
at this time and in this place

Water

Weeping under wild sky
Wander down mountain paths
Watery wealth flowing through
Washing over, anew
Wordlessly fill rivers
Walls of dams pressing hard
Weighing down heavy tears!

Fading Fall

Many times I've passed by before appreciating your heart
Farewell wordlessly made you and I yet apart too far,
In the hidden place, I am sure, you will wait for seeing hopes restart,
And longing for a fresh new world in the coming next new year

Love Speaks Through All of The Quiet

Love speaks through all of the quiet,
A whisper in the hush of dawn.
In silence, it starts a riot,
Of feelings, wordlessly drawn.
It's the pause between heartbeats,
A language of gentle sighs.
In stillness, passion completes
What noise could never comprise.
Love's quiet is a full moon's glow,
Illuminating all we know.

Element Wind

The wakeful wind whistles
Winding wearily and watching all
Wafting silently whispering woes
Weightlessly whipping wisplike whacks
Wondrously wild when wrathful weather attacks
Wrecking and walloping worsening in time
Nature wilts whimpering wordlessly worried
The wind whirls and wrestles in wingless flight

I Am Vaporizing In Your Eyes

I am vaporizing in your eyes slowly
Noiselessly, clearly, and helplessly
Am I willing to be absorbed as steam?
No! my feeling is no but wordlessly

I am vaporizing in your eyes helplessly
As immediate as I saw you saw me
You turned me into steam softly

What should I do immediately?
Seeping into your soul completely?
Or hiding into the cloud urgently?

HOW DID IT HAPPEN?

I must have been in a coma
Not to see time passing by
So can you explain to me
The mysterious reason why
How did it happen?
What’s my excuse?
Did I suddenly go blind?
Was I really so obtuse?
I wasn’t prepared for this
It must be a dream
Tomorrow I’ll wake up
And stifle a scream
As I look in my mirror
As I wordlessly behold
That somehow, some way
I’ve undeniably grown old!

I Control Nothing

Written: by Tom Wright January 2015 Like an Appaloosa’s rump, The sky was so flecked. Or with sparkling diamonds, That God had bedecked. The aroma of fresh hay, Had hitched evening’s breeze; While an un-molested Owl, Spoke loudly from the trees; Now wordlessly engrossed, In this creation by God’s hand; I speculate on my tomorrow, And what He has planned.

Care

The noise of a crescent
climbs wordlessly.
In the night of dew and wind, for
its native starless beams-
holding the thread of a thought, walking
through wall of disbelief. Before and after
the murder of a spark; the heart misses
a beat. Cold sweat rustling on forehead;
you bend to pick up a coin,
a fake one. Possibility of becoming rich fades soon.
You want to say nothing.

These eyes have seen the heavens, Mia

These eyes have seen the heavens, Mia.

It has seen the destruction forced upon earth.

These eyes have seen god, Mia.

It has seen the icor flowing through his mirth.

These eyes never deceive, Mia.

It has seen him kill recklessly.

These eyes have carried tears, Mia.

It has longed for you hopelessly.

These eyes have now turned cloudy, Mia.

It has been defeated wordlessly.

The Pregnant Pause

Listen to poem:
The little linger, the wee wee wait-a-while,
says it all wordlessly, unwieldy:
"The momentary pause is pregnant!"
with distinct possibilities of a bow-out clause.
I can see and smell the stench of doubt
as you look away,
breaking our eye-to-eye contact.
That tiny delay is your way of saying it,
without saying it in words.
You, the soothsayer-in-silence bleats:
"The momentary pause is pregnant!"
Listen!

Yellow Sisi

Yellow Sisi
It was simple, pure but soulful
A bare rendition for a fair lady
Wording every inner thoughts
Into a dazzling gaze
With such stunning beauty
Mesmerizing the senses
Words becomes senseless
Leaving us gawking shamelessly
while Complimenting wordlessly
Hmm, with such complexion
Alluring us on
as the only flickering light
it leaves no room to wonder
why the remaining surroundings
Emerge in fading blackness

Brain Dead Airhead Co-Ed

So, stranded on Framingham Turnpike,
I walked from the corpse of my Vette
(Unsure just what gasoline burns like),
as far as my high heels could get.

The tow trucker guy got my blood up,
his big chest all covered in hair.
He wordlessly lifted the hood up,
and studied the engine with care.

I’d let the poor pistons get wet, or
my battery somehow went flat?
He said, “Crap in the damn carburetor.”
“How often, dude, must I do that?”

My Journey

Stormy snowy night
Howling the black fox
Whelps, on the central door, whining
Dead like all around of me
Wordlessly massive butchery

As if hearing I’m- “Wolves there are
angry glitzy eyed, hungry to fight
lets sleep a while silently!”

But, I don't like to sleep
Don’t like to stay behind and
wait far from wolves roaring,
Fear and timidity I shun all friendly
My journey to surmount all by love sharing

A Moment of Lucidity

Wrestling with consciousness
fading in and out,
the darkness threatens to sweep me away
Where am I?
How did I get here?
What happened?
No voice escapes my lips
dry, parched tongue mouths wordlessly
as dreams tangle with reality
swimmingly, a face appears
in a moment of lucidity
in the storm of incoherency
I remember your face
your love
your lifeline to me
a tenderness fills me with warmth,
as I sink back into the darkness
but now there is a light....

Love's Magic

I don’t think it’s foolish,
Simple-minded, silly, whimsical,
Naïve, and/or childish
To believe that love is magical.

So-called experts offer
No scientific explanations
That any would prefer.
Love wordlessly defies summation.

You know that I love you,
But that is so hard to quantify;
And I am loved by you--
I don’t need to know a reason why.

Some believe in magic.
Most believe in something up above.
Wouldn’t life be tragic,
If we all stopped believing in love?!

Remembrances

remembrances, of dad
so alive. now silent.

shall i speak it
shall i speak of sadness
not sorrowing grief
but inconvenient sadness

the gaps
the gaps of a father i did not know
did not understand
the child he once was
the man who lived and fathered me

the first of his siblings to die
they came and watched wordlessly
pre-occupied in scattered thoughts

the long goodbye
uttered over and over
long after dad left us
yet i am still
now calling, now whispering
goodbye.
