You all who pass by... sans guide light
walking other crooked obscure paths,
you are all walkers at random...
I am the only lucent way alt right
Remember when you’re driving you’re driving
Beware walkers, bikers—it’s a big deal!
All need to keep on safely arriving
So eyes on the road and hands on the wheel!
Canes break
Walkers fly
Dentures are thrown
No one asks why
With no livelihood
We fail to thrive
Nothing to do
But watch the paint dry
Retirement sucks
Work was my life
I got me a special pair of walkers,
Tattered, torn, comfortable dockers,
Ain’t too easy on the eyes,
And wouldn‘t win a prize,
It’s the size fourteens that are the shockers.
Few of us, excluding window cleaners,
And tight rope walkers,
Are not afraid of heights,
Yet we are all walking the tightrope,
That is life,
With greed on one side,
And need on the other side.
CATS FOR CONGRESS
Are these politicians just talkers?
Some seem like outright mockers!
Why not cats? How divine!
They can balance fine lines.
Either cats or tight-rope walkers!

Village Inn
a go-to restaurant for oldsters
old old old old old people
the parking lot is full of walkers and canes
they are hobbling in the speed of clogged ketchup
at seventy-two, I feel like a baby chick next to them
Ghouls
Zombies
Dead of night
Creatures undead
Whoever started this must be insane.
Is it likely these creatures entertain?
Living instead
Spreading fright
Or ease
Fools

We do not want to frighten anyone, especially the kids.
This was told to us by the ghost walkers – two Susies and two Sids.
Susie Mom and baby Susie, and Sid One and now Sid Two.
They were careful not to scare anyone, holding in each enormous boo
Pale daughters of a certain age
are crestfallen when it snows
Still they recount the footfall
of the hardy walkers
Fog holds a certain allure
as they ponder their morality
But frost strikes at their sails
as they acknowledge their foibled hands
A puppeteer and a columnist
Two greeting persons of great talent
A writer and a simple artist
Met in New York on a bench God-sent
Acquaintance that brought humor and scent
To watchers and walkers awed with skill
Moving and talking puppets that shrill
dawn sky for painters
bright blue skies and bleak gray woods
distant conspire scheme
glistening sunshine
illuminates the wide space
crimson rubber pipe
winter leaf debris
respiring in forming lake
Wheels flood the walkers
Rich white-collar crooks wearing suits,
street walkers, and rowdy old coots,
bank robbers, dope dealers,
bootleggers, fake healers--
I found while pursuing my roots!
fictional!
July 15, 2018, entered in Carolyn Devonshire's Limerick contest
outside my dark windows
in sickly yellow streetlights
I see walkers with small support wheels
and halting wheelchairs
fight their way across the pedestrian
but here
with only the standby light from the stereo
I see clearly my crutches dance
in the hallway
The sea laps the shore,
whilst the sand receeds into
its cold blue temptress.
Oystercatchers sqwark,
their long beaks beaconing
the summer solstice.
Upon the clifftops,
weathered walkers feel the breeze,
adrift by sundown.

Loud announcements on my radio and megaphone
Heard all over the school ground and parking zone-
It’s raining prof drivers, take extra precautions,
Drive slowly on your route, looking in all directions!
On the left are walkers and bikers on the right
Go straight, let your attendants help kids to alight!
Walkers crisps should be forced to comply
With trade description legislation
And stop disappointing their customers
With their artificial flavourization
When purchasing a bag of Walkers crisps
The refined palate of an epicurean
Would be gravely disappointed if they did not
Taste of Rambler, Hiker or Pedestrian
Form:
On the common sidewalk
we walk everyday
Our steps meet ...
We follow the same route
and we discern the same things.
.We wet under the same rain
and burn under the same sun.
If our footsteps
are familiar with each other,
if we're so close together such a way
Why we do not talk
We are badly aware of our
names ?
patients arrive behind canes
scoot around in walkers
some are being pushed in wheelchairs
they look old, ancient, elderly to me
I hear them give their birthdates and I am shocked
Many are younger than I am
This makes me grateful
I may have arthritis in both ankles
but I can still walk in without help
I feel lucky
Walkers crisps should be forced to comply
With trade description legislation
And stop disappointing their customers
With their artificial flavourization
When purchasing a bag of Walkers crisps
The connoisseur would think it a mistake
If he was unable to detect the distinct flavour
Of sweaty cagoule and Kendal mint cake
Form:
Like fruitless wanderers,
mall walkers slap their feet
in a rhythm
that goes nowhere.
Only round and round,
past mega-bucks sales;
pet store puppy mill reject dogs,
a merry-go-round for elderly exercisers.
Fitness for arthritic window shoppers.
Fashion pants do beckon,
'come forth and sally
ye nomads of the modern world.'
When bread
is this good
a morsel
will suffice
and when wine
is this good
a sip is enough
for the wraiths
and specters
coming toward
the altar now
on crutches
walkers
in wheel chairs
celebrating
the last Easter
some of them
will know
as they await
a resurrection
of their own.

Walking down the countryside footpath,
Side stepping here and there,
Looking downwards as I go,
Missing the beauty all around me,
Only seeing what's left behind,
Bags thrown in the hedge and on the ground,
Trying not to step in what has not been cleaned,
It's not the scenery I want to see,
Dog walkers take your dogs doodoo's away.
Some people walk with purpose,
Their confidence on view,
While others shuffle by as if
They haven’t got a clue.
New Yorkers, as a rule, are fast
And so their normal pace
May look, to others, like they are
Competing in a race.
But as with any rule, there are
Exceptions, so I know
Some walkers take forever to
Get where they need to go.
