Don'T Call Me

Alexander Graham Bell
Phoned the farmer in the dell.
The farmer, wakened from his slumber
Yelled at him and growled, "Wrong number".

Wind

Wakened, the winged and winsome wind wandered westerly while whistling witchery. It waltzed whimsically within woodlands - whooshing, then whipping willows. Worn, it waned. . . whispering wistfully.

The Dream

How strange it would be ever if
You wakened in your bed
You dreamed you had an accident
And that you were not dead

You crashed into a mighty tree
And only scarred your knee
Ejected from the seat, you were
And bounded, one, two, three

The Somber Reminiscence

Woe received from feelings passed
Of memories thought asleep at last
They haunt the ever wakened state
And for the dreams, they lie in wait

‘Tis but a word that can stir
The clearer image from a blur
To a full blown reality of a thought
That was once what love had brought.

Table Sins

TABLE SIN OF NOUVEAU RICHE

sweetest dawn he ever knew
Toast was perfect, sky was blue

from the window all he saw ---
Sparkling as the artists draw

BUT
that
NIGHT

didn't whine, didn't stutter
when he wakened in the gutter

Didn't know he'd tempted Fate
Nibbling garnish from his plate

Eye Wash

To be wakened
 by drumming rain
To gaze upon
 falling cleansing
It pauses
and the air
 stretches
to
Waltz with the wind
Refreshed and free
Things are sweetened
Sipped
with a twist
of time

This is at the moment of observation writing
in an attempt to convey taste and wetness

Incurable Pain.

Chromed blade promptly
With adroit, raw incisions
Separates toxic, mounting mass

Unsterilized weeping fears
Tourniquet burnt
By caring eyes separated

Self-victimization
Flooding the dark room
With febrile infectious tears

Incessant wakened hours pass
The phantom poison
Remains flowing

Well They Got Me Ready

You might think I'm sappy
But who really fricken cares
And if you think I'm crappy
Whats with all the fricken stares
I am so fricken happy
To be wakened by my birds
Yea they did it pretty snappy
The noisy little turds
Well they got me ready
Up for the dawning day
And I'm out already
No fricken more to say

A Winter's Field

a winter's field
in december's night,
covered in shadows
echoed in frost light,

bare forests loom darkly
gloom gathered near,
black shadows, wet snowflakes
creaking branch wakened fear,

through forest lonely and fell
pathway melting discerned,
ahead candle lit windows
warm fires well earned.

Warrior Wind

Wakened winged warrior wonders about
Whimsically whooshing through out the woodlands
Wistfully whispering wondrous tunes
Wakened winged warrior wonders about
Waltzing within the weeping willows
Never will be worn down never be waned
Wakened winged warrior wonders about
Whimsically whooshing through out the woodlands

Middle Sleep

Between sleep and awake I’m free
Navigation comes easy for me

Along fault lines of earthquakes I travel
With barely a ripple of gravel

Equations and troubles I conquer
My victories soar above squalor

If wakened I hasten my return
To slumber in peaceful nocturne

O.... the grandeur I reap
My magical place middle sleep

A Silly One For My Wife On a Thursday Morning Because She Deserves Daily Poetry

her snores echo around
our cozy bed chamber
I'm wakened by the sound
thinking we're in danger

just 'tis a spouse so pretty
I keep my husband's poise
how can one so itty bitty
make such humongous noise?

a little shake I'll have to use
to nudge away the sleepy problem
but it's really just an excuse
to put my hand on her cute bottom

Life

Is it a dream?
if so, what yet dreams it?
does it dream with such fervor that it ignites the stars?
does it dream so skillfully that the dreamed think it the dreamer?
does it dream with a will of such power that the dream remains even after the dreamer has wakened?
such a mystery shall not be revealed by time
as time is a dream of the dreamed

Beauty of Day's Harvest

Ah, the exotic blend of new spice
and desires on the tip of the tongue,
love's seductive dawning does entice
cinnamon cravings wakened among

thrills of ardent aster in Fall bloom,
whispers and lips in butterfly tease
stoking hearth’s heat in surrendered swoon
harvesting lust with vanilla ease

on eve of Autumn leaves and passion.

Love In the Fragrant Dawning Sapphic Verse

LOVE IN THE FRAGRANT DAWNING

Heard the birdsong of delicate blush dawning

Dreamed the soft breath yearning kisses of my darling

                                  Wakened to the flashing agony of wicked truth;

Veiled my trembling heart in black.

Georgia Stranger

Thinking a sleeping owl perched on a rail in late afternoon would never notice
As I tried to pet its delicate feathers, to touch its chestnut brown grayish-ness
The Okefenokee Swamp owl bit me in 1973

Returning I thought as a symbol in 1986
Taking the place of wisdom

The owl returned with its question—
How do you like it that I have wakened you
up tonight and frightened you?

Strain

For wary minds that tend to creep,
the weary mind it so does keep.
A beacon like a lightning rod,
The unbeknownst it tends to sod.
For in its dreary wakened sleep,
another question so does creep.
Without restraint, this thought to bear,
defines me as plain unaware.
Where do I find the left behind,
when it was only state of mind?
The consequence which we define,
of disembarking unto time.

The Nap Sap

(this has happened a few times to me when
trying to sleep out on my deck in the sun!)

I longed to nap
and laid me down right here.
Then peacefully I closed my eyes
and drifted off round “sheep one-hundred-four.”

But what a sap!
When sleep came very near,
my body jolted; with surprise
I wakened from the sound of my own snore.

Enigma

It comes from time to time upon a wind that wafts aromas fragrant to a mind now wakened from long sleep. And yet, perplexed, he is resigned to yet again concede his own defeat, a yoked, unequal partner, when they meet as man and muse combined. Then unannounced, it parts and leaves him much chagrined.

Dream Work of Wolf Woman

One ethereal night Wolf Woman was wakened by Father Moon
I have a task he told her, turn your sculptured face to the stars.
She understood the importance of the vision, being a shaman’s daughter.
A spark of omnipotent understanding entered her imagination realm.
Her dream work was going to be super important. She howled her truth.
Heard an echoing verification howl from Brother Wolf, her power animal.
