A tulip sways in Dutch pasture

My life has been folded over

With twilight comes exposure
and a reckoning sublime
Each crease a thing I’d never done

SOFTLY DAWNS THE DAY

Daylight unwraps the hues of the world with an awakening magic. Early morning comes as a promise kept, bringing a sense of serenity, a peace that invited itself into my soul and made itself at home.
softly dawns the day
morning's gentle whispers sweet
summer's warmth awakes
In college, my sorority
Required us to learn
The alphabet in Greek,
Which we recited in our turn.
Since then, I’ve used it rarely –
In a crossword clue, perhaps –
As my brain recites those letters
That my memory unwraps.
Lately, though, with Covid’s Delta
And now Omicron’s new streak,
There’ve been many more occasions
To recall my long-lost Greek.
Sweetheart, a cerebral woman I respect
Enchanted by her month when all life awakes
Smiles from childhood lovingly resurrect
Morning dew, tulip scent, warm days, birthday cake
Italian squeaked from mom, in exciting tone
Delay the kisses and gifts till Dad gets home
Sweetheart- unwraps bows in absolute rapture
Yearly this feeling she attempts to capture!

Before the breaking, my heart sees
Something beyond my expertise,
And on unknown sunny shores as these
I find my circumstances freeze,
Feelings that make me ill at ease
Wrapped in a reassuring breeze,
A gust that brings me to my knees,
Playing on my insecurities,
World-weary eyes are hard to please;
The wind on my face disagrees,
Unwraps myself and gently frees
The happiness it guarantees.

My senses are wildly awake to absorb the sights
and mellifluous sounds of the world reigning my spirit,

The sky unwraps a silver veil,
Each drop a hymn, so soft, so pale,
As rain begins its tender play.
It drapes the earth in crystal lace,
With every bead, a sweet embrace,
A gentle calm on Christmas Day.
The lights reflect in puddled grace,
Like stars descended, face to face,
In every splash, a dream will stay.
Oh, how I love the rain's refrain,
Its hush more pure than caroled strain,
A holy hush where hearts can pray.
