A Jack Ellison Christmas
There once was a guy named Jack
Who daily brings Christmas back
As he makes the rounds
With his humorous sounds
We're off to his house too unpack!...

Santa gave Donald Trump a big sack
That he thought Trump would never unpack
But to Trump's great delight
It was all anthracite

Always Be...Family(Footle Series)
Those Dear
Hold Near

Don't Keep
Jealousy

Tell Pride
It's Goodbye

Don't Leave
Bitterly

Think Straight
Don't Wait

Unpack
Come Back

Embrace
God's Grace

Forgive
And live

I Say
This Day

Stand Still
You Will

Always Be
Family...

Never have I seen trouble as deep as
The catastrophe in Tamaulipas.
I chanced on a 6-kilometer crack -
A lot of information to unpack.
If you fall into the crack, it seems,
You'll be in China or the Philippines.
I tell you straight, put it on the level -
It is either drainage or the devil....

Like I Never Left
When I arrive home.

I will silently unpack.

To be abandoned.

To be unabandoned.

The community that found me.

The people I’m destined to forget.

The society I had been taken from.

When I arrive home…

There is too much to unpack.

Tomorrow, the apologies begin.

Tomorrow, the secrets begin....

The Day Before Christmas
The day before Christmas
I found the place
The place where my presents were hidden
I unpacked one
Knew then that I was deep in trouble
So what did I do?
I unpacked them all
Thinking
How angry can my mother become?
For Christmas I got one present more
And to unpack the rest one more time
I was very young
And got a mother’s smile, too...

    angry-gray steam billowing
       from its coal-stoked furnace
    its whistle threatening a reckoning

speed decreasing with each turn of its wheels
       the mighty locomotive pulled into
the station, her denizens eagerly waving

to folks as familiar as the sounds of the prairie
adventures to unpack once back home

Poor
A poverty life
a broken heart
all I can give my wife
and I tear us apart

why are you still here
move on and succeed
all I can give is a tear
an that you don't need

So before you unpack
and think this is right
remember my lack
to put up a fight

I will continue to cause pain
and I think we both know
I am still the same
so you should probally go...

A Relocation Problem
We’ve moved
my wife and I from home
to the last place

we’ll ever live and she
wants to know why
I’m sitting around

not helping to unpack.
So I tell her the problem
which is her problem too

but she keeps unpacking.
I’m not at home, I tell her,
but I’m not here either.

Not to worry, I say.
I’ll let both of us in
when we arrive.

I'M Waiting
I'm waiting for yesterday
I'm waiting for before today
I'm waiting for all the fun we had
I'm waiting now and feeling sad
I'm waiting for the day that I called you mine
I'm waiting for the sun to shine
I'm waiting for the time we shared
I'm waiting for the time you cared
I'm waiting cause I want you back
I'm waiting for you to unpack
I'm waiting for yesterday
I'm waiting for before today...

Premium Member Library Love
Lingering among the stacks
Interval of serenity, a luxury to
Borrow a world, then bring it back
Riches of printed page, once few
Are carried throughout the community
Requiring only a card to belong
Young and old both given opportunity

Lending literacy to growing minds, strong
Out of many streets, they share the room
Vaulted ideas have a place to bloom
Encyclopedias of adventures to unpack!

Taking a Stab At Writing a Lyric
September is here
I wave goodbye to summer
Unpack the fall gear
Cold weather is a bummer!
I'm glad we're eased in
With leaves as they change color
Reminding me of when
I played tag with my brother.
Jumping into leaves
We raked up into a pile
Never misperceived
A landing spot worthwhile
Seasons changed again
And snow now covers his grave
So young he was when
He decided life would end
He thought he couldn't be saved....

He left footsteps
On maroon heart
Pickled my breath
Left me teal tart
A shadow of self
Onyx eyes now dark
Casting my cares
Left stoic torn apart

Let me wallow in my pain
I avoid sun and embrace rain
For without one the other is vain
This too shall pass but I remain

Stuck in a lesson learned too well
Burned in my brain like fire from hell
Give me some time I’m sure to unpack
Reorganize my mind get my groove back

Let's Fall In Love
If ever you’re giving your heart away,
I'm first in queue.
If ever you’re ready to surrender to love,
I will submit with you.
If ever you want to conquer mountains of destiny,
I will climb with you.

I see divine tendencies in you,
let me submerge in it.
Unburden your fears,
show me your vulnerabilities
don't remain taciturn
We can unpack together.

I feel your soul,
It illuminates my darkness.
Let’s fall in love fearlessly....

Premium Member Summer holiday
The summer holidays are here! Time to relax and unwind. Let's head for the beach, build sandcastles, ride on donkeys and paddle in the sea. The golden sun is shining - No clouds are in sight. We apply coconut scented lotion then lay on beach towels taking care not to burn! We unpack our picnic hamper onto a huge tartan rug. There’s lots of delicious treats food gets eaten very quickly - we’re wary of pesky seagulls!

Who Am I
who am i
does anyone
know

who am i
does anyone
care

i know lots of people
but i have
no real friends

i chat, laugh
and sympathize-
but it's all pretend

when left alone
with moments
to ponder

i look inside
and try hard
to find

the real me
my essence
the me left behind

i'm ashamed
to admit
i'm ashamed to say

the real me
is buried
deeply packed away

i waited
too long
to unpack myself

that myself
is long gone
and i'm just a mess...
