Winter's Turn
pale autumn sun glows on this strand
	through seascape's misty gray
while lonely footsteps in the sand
	attest I've trudged this way
to find white surf remains unvexed
        that winter's turn is next...

returned the lost sleep to my eyes

i dreamt a dream of you

drenched in radiant rainbow hue

Desert Trek
I started out one sunset
to cross this barren land;
trudged in dark night's coolness
across the burning sand.

Three more days 'til I reach
oasis that I seek.
Sleeping days, walking nights;
it's been a long, dry week.

Now the sun is rising
and I must take my rest.
Sleep until next sunset
and then resume my quest....

Mistletoe
When amorous Joe, from New Mexico,
Trudged in deep snow, to collect mistletoe.
Now it was not to be,
When Joe fell from the tree.
Where his ardour was cooled, by freezing snow.

Tainted Tongue
*Tainted Tongue*

turbulent torrent puking
rustic waves, feigning
passion gulping gaunt
horizon; hoisted bow
receding thuds pounding
punctured mists mumbling

thirty one years
creature in tier;
human, ape, bear

bounty beards blushing
farcical feets' felony
trudged earth moaning

sans tamed language
yet Island's sage.

The Peasant Girl
Winter snow had fallen
and the land now sparkled white
but still the little peasant girl
trudged homeward through the night
her clothes were thin and ragged
and her face was rosy red
she had served her Lord and master
now she journeyed home to bed
she did not see the danger
on the lonely road she trod
nor did the horses hoof alarm her
but they killed the girl stone-dead....

Why did you leave me?
I cried aloud on the mountainside.
An echo returned to me
A mere repetition once she died.

Why can't I know where she is?
It was not right that I should know.
Everything was hers, not his.
Like it or not, it's better so.

My mind echoed "I love you still".
I trudged home, with nowhere to go.
Dark thoughts were all that now fill
My life was now full of desperate woe.

Elated On Misty Hills
One damp misty dawn
I felt mysteriously drawn
Grey foggy-hill-prone,

In a rain-drained chill
I trudged to top of the hill
A bit drowsy still,

And a fusillade
Of clouds left me feel lifted,
Or more misty head!

Poet’s note: Feeling lifted, elated, ecstatic, or a bit euphoric, the wise world that we live in might call this as being misty-head, if not mad!...

Isha
Sometimes there's no food
Isha's hunger gnawed
For pies, cake and pop
The African sun
burned hot every day

Endless miles trudged
To find the well
Queueing with friends
Laughing out loud

Rain swept in
Yearly flood
Devoured

Red Cross
Rescued

Her

Isha goes to school
A land far away
From where she was born
With her family
Rehomed in a house

Advantages
She luckily
is achieving

There is food
plentiful
to sustain

Happy
Isha

If I Could Change,
The past trudged as the ground.
Go round me through time.
Silence me with sounds.
Echo my fruitfulness.
Lust toward me.
To ward me with your lust...

The past trudged toward my lust.
Sounds silence fruitfulness.
Ground me with echos through time.
Go round as if to lust toward me.
To ward me with your lust...

I Must Dream
I’ve slung high upon my shoulders
The burdens I’ve to bear,
I’ve trudged upon that weary road
Benighted by despair;
O’ yet the sun rises on the morrow,
Thus to shine again,
But I must dream each night away
To see that day begin!

I’ve slogged along the twisted road
And steered the daily coils,
I’ve languished on the dark defeats
That lie within the toils.
O’ yet dawns another sunny day
To field my way again,
Still I must dream each night away
To see that day begin!...

“Exit oh hermit, dark pathways of sin ~ The light of a thousand suns shines within” ~ quote by poet We strive and spar, without knowing who we are and twirled by thoughts, we’ve drifted afar, whilst if we pause for a while free from ego’s guile, like yonder star and ponder upon our life style, though we’ve trudged many a mile, enslaved by mind, soul’s blackened like tar. We strive and spar, without knowing who we are. 19-January-2023

Ancestors
there are those
who lived by the sides
of my ever-green forests
whose naked feet
trudged along my endless
bush-paths -
there are those
whose voices
still mutter in tremulous sounds
to unheeding sons
& daughters
within some grave-yards
of new happiness
there are those
whose faces saw the twigs
of today in old mud-morrow
tho still going a-sorrow -
these are the clan's sages
who sit unseen
among us
like our casualties -
these are the ancestors
who sit unseen
like us
in a world of the casualties...
