Toad

At the river's edge
so as to scare the ugly cold
                            croaks in vain a toad...

Speedy Frog

Lunch as an insect in the fog
Flying in a swamp by a log
For a starving toad
Though surely he's slowed
To a speedy tongue of a frog

The Warty Toad

The Warty Toad swells
as I stomp by his hiding.
Zap! He eats a fly!

The Toad

I was walking the yellow brick road
When I stumbled upon a fat toad
With feathers for skin
He favored a hen
His face looked like a freakish ode

Once upon a time in the land of Nod
Woman chef who was quite odd
Taught some to bake
Warm toads in a cake
Had a horrible taste but was quite mod

there was a young toad named Joad
who began life as a mere tadpole
one day it is said
he ended up dead
the protein in a Blue Heron’s casserole

Bored

I am feeling bored,
Like a toad.
Can't stop being lazy,
When I love to be clumsy.
Guess I will just complete my work and reduce the load.

Ol’ Blue The Toad

There once was a dumb toad named Blue
who went around eating white glue;
Horns grew from his head,
His body turned red,
He said, “I should have eaten stew.”

Premium Member I want to be a horned toad

I want to be a horned toad
Puffing myself up to enormous fluffiness
terrifying my enemies
eating ant sandwiches as they run from me
squirting blood out of my eyes
confusing them even further

Toad Tale

by Wayne Wysocki

There once was an arrogant frog
Who thought he was king of the bog
         But he wasn't so regal
When the bark of a beagle
Scared him right off of his log.

Premium Member Every Frog and Toad

Within every warty frog or toad
that you encounter on the road,
a hidden prince sleeping, lies,
though his tongue just catches flies;
and if I can persuade you this,
I suggest you give me a kiss.

Load From Another Toad Needing Code

Load from Another Toad Needing Code

Looks like they had dumped another load,
On someone who appears to be big toad;
Likes to croak,
While broke;
Been busy changing things to a new code.

Trump a Terrible Toad

Trump A Terrible Toad

Thought that Trump was a terrible fat toad,
And around his waste carried a heavy load,
Ignorance did see,
And his stupidity;
No wonder back has been bent and bowed.

Premium Member calling a toad a toad

Punctilious conversation
Unknown by this generation
Suggested by eager administration
Hoping to curb dancing gyration
Censorship doesn’t work in our nation
Where felons are revered in Presidential celebration

Premium Member toad falls in love

His newest mouse companion is petite and light on her toes.
She has a fragrance that delights up his nose.
Her fuzzy pink tail gives him a happy little slice.
Bumpy old toad is always falling in love with the mice.

Betrayed

Witch in Salem, you see,
Needs spelling, tee hee,
Wizard held another,
Toad was his mother,
Witchy cast charms,
Warts on his arms,
Bald was his head,
Maidens did dread,
Pustules appeared,
Grinning, witch feared!

Premium Member the fuzzy toad couple

The fuzzy toad couple came hopping across the pond
I was amazed when I saw the last lily pod they’d been on
There were four footprints of high heeled shoes.
I was surprised to say the least, now wouldn’t you have been too?

Premium Member Wisdom of a Toad

Wisdom of a Toad
Heavy horses, heavy packs
Hearty travelers, dirty rats
Travel on this dusty road
Passing by a simple toad
That’s in no hurry
For it seems to know
Exactly where the path it leads
If you reap you sow the seeds

Premium Member The Great Toad

("Peyote Moon", 2018, original encaustic)

The Great Toad

At the gateless gate
I met the Great Toad
Sitting tall and wide

And in his gaze
All my needs were known
And met

And in that moment
I passed beyond
Without a trace

Premium Member Tippy Toed Toad

Tippy Toed Toad loved the rain more than anyone I ever knew.
The only thing he would love better than one shower would be two.
His spots raised up and did a jig with happiness before it was through.
He liked it on his head, he liked it on his tongue and his tippy toes too.

Ode To a Toad

An ode by Jove
 to that old toad
 who ate my fish
 as I made a wish
and kissed him on the lips
 to find my prince.

But alas
 he had no crown
 so I tossed him down
hard and angry in to the briar
at last I saw him for what he was
just a toad and a liar.
