Premium Member Oh To Hear 'Play Ball'
Baseball is on my mind more,
When frigid winds freeze to the core,
Opening day,
Seems eons away,
Snow shovels strike out, wood bats score!...

Mark Reynolds, Arizona Diamondback.
With a baseball bat, you take a healthy whack.
You can hit home runs without a doubt.
Why is it so many times you strike out?...

Dreams
unreal they are mentioned,

without trace they go,

for they have no pleasure

to exist at all,

but promising they stand

innocently they surface,

and will strike out then....

A rough idea
invades brain waves.
Words flow. A pen glides,
line after line across the page.

Anticipation, hope rings.
It grows, lives, sings.

Evaluate, punctuate
strike out, insert
distill, re-frame
copy, finis.

read aloud . . . scrap....

For Alaina
The ocean above our heads is choppy, cold and everlasting.
It glows
with the crescent, the stars and its nubian beauty.

A Nubian beauty akin to yours my lover.
Let's strike out on that sea, let's climb that trellis and

Show the earth a nova, strike them blind upon it!...

Life Is Like Baseball
Focus means everything!!!

Effort. Courage.

In times of our lives we strike out,

But it's a team sport.

Think about when you hit that home run!!

It really doesn't matter who was there and who was not.

Who applauded and who did not.

Moments are all we have...

Love and the fight for survival continues on.......

Seizing the Instant
Give up your torment,
take back your verse
tomorrow upon you
for better or worse

Take up your wishes,
give in to dreams
sleep in denial,
old memories scream

Free up the moment,
strike out the past
damning the future,
its promise unmasked

Strike up the silence,
freeing new words
seizing the instant
—forever unheard

Oh! This eternal, infernal lockdown
I want to strike out, in ill-natured rebellion,
but all I can do is grip at shapeless hope.

I’m free to dream, of course, and I dream
my fill - I’ve become a dreamaholic.

My omnifarious dreams are deliberate,
whimsical, vengeful, hopeful - they even
tiptoe love's erotic, cutting edge but reality
soon returns - stealthy as a parent -
to induce dark, ordered boredom....

What will you say
as we sing out of tune?

Will you stand up
and strike out
with me?

What would you do
if the world were insane
as a flat screen TV
proclaiming his need
to be me?

When will we see
with our Earth's lighter eyes
as we listen for win-win surprise
exclaiming our power
to become bicamerally dexterous we?

What will you sing
when we talk out of tune?

Will you strike out
and stand up
with me?...

It doesn’t matter where
It’s not about who
The spotlight
The stage
Theatrical
Words beyond what world sees and hears
Words uncertain
Tomorrow unseen
Words through suggestions
Cushion of no comfort
Amid the storms of doubt and circumstances
Words of wonder and delight
Precision in direct light
Words gather like no other
Statement and appeal
Words strike out for real
No longer concealed
Words surround
They found you
The gathering
Word out

Premium Member Scars
Journey far
To seek your stars
Yet bear each scar

On the way
Through rough harsh days
Dare dream and play

Watch each fear
Strike out my dear
Dare cling to cheer

Live each chance
Dream your fond dance
Wade in deep trance

Wounds and scars
Make you your star
Be brave on par

Set your game
Sculpt a fine name
Live praise and blame

Be the wood
Carve each odd mood
Can all be good?

My Son
When you look at me,
I see me
I see your father,
your grandparents,
looking back at me.
I see such wisdom,
for one so young in age.
I see a baby in need of care and protection,
My baby.
Yet I also can see the seeds of a great man,
who someday I hope to live to see.
Independent,
bold,
but still a tad unsteady
You strike out on your own.
Still you turn to me for assurance,
And in that I see a child still,
But not for long.
When you look at me,
I see you....

Ho Hum, I'D Rather Have Some Simple Fun
i look at life from the side
i am always wrong
i look at life while perfectly centered
i am still always wrong
i look at life at a right side view
i am definitely wrong on that end
i look at life at a left handed view
things begin to become a bit clearer, but i am still thrown curve balls and strike out
totally exhausted and fully burnt out, i chalk it all down to lessons learned and call it a day
tomorrow i start it all over again, and the irregularly rhythmic beat goes on...

Success
No success is won
without a good attitude dedicate.
when constant doubts come
Negative actions demonstrate

Courage arrives when the waves are high
From the crown that would gain renown
Success is a star in the anxious eye
Till at last it becomes your very own

Success floats like a friendly boat
Most only worth what they bring
Satisfaction when you strike out
and own the prize others wanted to win

Success can’t always be done
unless you sacrifice some remedial fun...
