Progression of a Night Out
Sobriety
Lucid self-possession.
Clear-headed, composed, steadied
Abstention, temperance; Carouser, lush
Staggering, tottering, gibbering.
Intoxicated high.
Drunkenness...

Extinguished
I have to let you go now
my dear sexy friend

You have
steadied my hand
been a light
I could hold on to
in those darkest of times

So much time
spent
spending

With nothing to show
but ash and smoke...

Dropped Sails
Wind swept fast,
the boat steadied on sails,
they bloated like hell,
and the boat ran ahead,
so far so good,
what would happen,
when winds dropped dead,
and the boat came to halt,
those not ready,
are running fast,
and simply muddied and greedy....

The Lord
God has steadied
   Many provisions'
To shape my belief'
      ... And
  Sturdy my tongue'
       ------
He hath prepared for
    /// Me...
A place in the presence
Of my enemies'...
      ------
He provides' me
With comfort along the
  .... way!
And fulfill my needs'
In the adversity of
   .... My day!

Early Morning
Early morning shivers
Steadied by steaming tea
Sweetening my tongue
Warming me

The Towhee is calling
telling me to drink my tea
I tell him I have
Stop pestering me

The morning sky is crisp
Pine needles are dancing
Birds are all singing
Squirrels are all prancing

Light through the leaves
Painting them green
Early morning beauty
Enchants me...

Wedge of Life
Living on the edge,
on a thin razor like edge,
I walked on one side,
of a deep yawning wedge,
wind blew hard in a roar,
sweeping my hairs,
my legs swerved,
as if inviting a fall,
I steadied,
only to be windswept again,
precipitatinggly and gingerly,
I walked along,
life is a similar wedge,
with you on one edge,
it is not known for sure,
when a wind might blow,
and take you deep in wedge,
quite dead....

Rebuild Anew
“Rebuild anew”, he said to me,
the one of stillness ‘neath the sea.
“Rise to the shore; as one we’ll stand.
These hardened castles made of sand
protect your darkest memory.”

The lone wolf blows with certainty.
He shatters hollow masonry.
Destruction steadied by still hand.
Rebuild anew.

I only want tranquility,
to end these tortures mindlessly.
My heart be still, my life be grand.
Upon the rock I claim this land
to reinvent my destiny.
Rebuild anew....

I was walking on this earth I fell down Into the dirty crevices of sin And Jesus He lifted me He lifted me Out of the pit of despair, Out of the mud He lifted me Out of and muck the mire My God, My God He set my feet on solid ground As He steadied me as I walked along And above it all He lifted me He lifted me As He steadied me as I walked along And above it all above it all Jesus He lifted me He lifted me

Your Eyes Reach For Me
Your eyes reach for me searching for rescue

my hands find you like metal to a magnet

your breath on my body heavy with heat

your sweat velvety shines on my skin.

The moon through a window highlights your gaze

hunger streaming from every crease in your face.

Steadied by your grip my feelings escape

in rhythm with the raw emotion you set free.

The night air drifts over us

not cooling the warmth within

your eyes reach for me and again

we begin.
