What I miss at this old age
is sitting high like some tree sage,
in a stately southern oak
not thinking of being rich or broke.
in
field
facing
sun
it
stands
tall
with
golden
crown-
stately
sun
flower
Regally displayed
Rich crimson, her royal robes
Stately Maple stands
Inspired by Brian Strand's Images of Fall contest.
Winters freezing wilderness.
Icebergs gliding silently.
Mirror stately sailing ships.
Frozen into ice.

Stand tall stately palm.
Straight high slender with long leaves.
You symbol of victory!
Brightly Humble

Poetic form: Monoku
The tree stands stately
A thousand rings betray age
The birds sing like sages
Gnarled trunk suffers all weathers
Light dew moistens bird feathers
Here is a stately nook
in various degrees of wear;
Flowers, shells, and myriad designs
grace o'er our good old books.
Frilled edges of flora in bloom
Along my garden’s fences
Sweet scent of peony perfume
Invades my senses
They dance on stately stems
Pink skirts ruffled at their hems
in the far corner
of a local pub
in a narrow passageway
between once-stately brownstones
in an abandoned shack
midst a darkling woods
there breathe
secrets of
quiet folk
Stately in form and poise,
Swimming, so beautiful,
So magnificently
She moves, without effort,
Soft feathers gleaming white,
Serene in the sunset.
Stunning all who see her.
Gazing across her stately field of daisies, this domain..
Gathering love's bouquet arranging they a repose's vase
In heart's boudoir a shooting star; sitting, atop Scarab's sill.
As poets make their final search
for the lost syllables of fall
and wet branches of the stately birch
point out foliage is out of style
youngsters dream of holidays and smile.
stately blue jay waits
calmly swoops down from tree limb-
squirrel loses nut

In lemon and green
She stood
Wide eyes with red lustrous lips,
Carved brows like the African bow
Stately like a giraffe.
All eyes moved as one
To behold the queen
In lemon and green.
in field facing sun
standing tall neath golden crown-
stately sunflower

Enchanted forest where silence lives
Princesses now lost in childhood dreams
Where wishes are carved from stately pines
Swept silently upon the gentle breeze
To build castles of innocent memories
Skeletal once stately oak
Leaves changed their glossy color
Slowly then they fell 'pon ground
Final blow nuts gone

So stately behind the wheel
That old Cortina could have been a Rolls
The engine chugged
To the beat of your heart
Slow and steady
Making the drive home last
Captain of your ship
For five peaceful minutes
Have you checked
the garden lately,
weeds or flowers in the greens?
Raking over anger stately,
weed out all those plans and schemes.
Pleasant deeds bring peaceful dreams.

You may not own Kublai Khan's stately pleasure dome.
However humble it may be, there's no place like home.
It provides shelter and a place to stay all the while.
Life is so much better inside your own domicile.
The pines angular lines as seen
In a Japanese garden
Caught my eye_drew me in, held my
Attention_time and again
Tall stately unique shape like so
Many people if given
The opportunity to be
Changed_to be born again
stately tall and green
lofty trees touch turquoise sky
curved path in between
silky breeze caress
summer's on a redbird high
clouds join sunshine guild
profusion perfumes
flowers color Wednesday hours
'till magic of moon
Eagle
by Lanier Thomas
Safely soaring above the sky
The eagle continues to fly,
On stately wings that glide on air
Like drifting dreams without despair.
Onward over the horizon it goes
And calls us to follow its repose.
Elm once clad in gold
Has shed its colorful cloak
Awaits winter storms
Bare limbs lifted heavenward
As if in supplication.
