Premium Member freezing sorrow
lovely autumn was crying
for her spoiled unharvested pumpkins
when jack frost came by
freezing her tears
her hair is stalactites now
this stopped the sorrow
freezing it in time...

Icicles
ICICLES

On my eaves glass stalactites
Sunlight lenses sparkling pure
Formed in secret overnight
Future length of life unsure

But even if they fail and fall
They decorate my ugly wall...

Ice Breaker
Frozen
Struck by your hand
Gentle touch makes me stand
Between the eyes I'm captured
Enchanted I am, frozen ice raptured
Crystal dripping stalactites thawed
Stalagmites on ground awed
Then you vanished
Frozen...

Diamonds In the Trees
The icicles were like fine crystal
hanging from the trees

the ice storm was nasty
but left such beauty

icicles were lethal stalactites
hanging passively
from on high

the icicles warmed by the sun
began to melt

then started their journey to earth

Falling like missiles without a target...

A Return To the Cave
I retreat to my own cavern now and then
One that is unknown to all the modern age
A pristine cave that swallows all my cares when
The cacophony of life borders on rage
Pastel stalactites have dripped long before men
Groveled on this planet in quest of a wage
Brightest sunlight spills through ferns and dries my tear
A lizard cocks his head, "You are safe in here."...

Afte He Found the Right One
A spelunker he was
from adolescence on.
An outdoorsman

with the best equipment
exploring caves
one after another

shining a big flashlight
as he weaved among the
stalactites and stalagmites

saying he would never
explore another cave
once he found the right one.

He found that cave at forty,
sold his flashlight,
married and settled down.

(a Winter) Embrace
Misted eyes of heavy breath,
Savoured stalactites of tongue,
Necks held in last caress,
By hands rather held than gloved.

Ashen shivers of laden branches,
Buds lost and stems entwined,
Thighs warmed in grasps of ecstasy,
Filled of blood in heat's recline.

Fingers laced with tainted ivory,
Shivers burnt in frosted flesh,
Lips against a hardened tip,
To sighs of desirous end....

Eden of my eye
Beauty in culture of ten million
Garden of my eye
Haven of brethren and sistren

Values never weakened, in words spoken
Freedom strengthened, heritage golden

Sprinkled love in dynamite
Ceilings of heaven in stalactites
Grounds softened by stalagmites
Citizens' history, written in strobe light

Magnets of loving people
Ore of the grounds supple
Blanket of salvation
Tablet and core of the nation...

Premium Member Ubiquitous Deathlike White
The harsh season of winter
has its grip upon the land.
Strong gusty winds are blowing,
exacerbating the cold.
Precipitation is snow.
Tons of solid crystals fall.
They lie on the hardened ground.
Lakes and streams are not flowing
Trees are devoid of their leaves.
The ice hangs like stalactites.
Green growth is inhibited.
No flowers found anywhere.
Barren lifeless surroundings.
Ubiquitous deathlike white.
Come in from out of the freeze....

Long Distance Runner
The Forest floor sodden, after thaw.
Widow makers out/in horizontal draw.
Stalactites, waiting
for the mis-trodden,
like web and spider maw.
For miscalculation, error in judgment.
Spinning disc through the tree-blind.
But you've been sent.
To get help, medicine, equipment.
Of a dire kind, in dire need.
They are counting on you.
Become the wind through the trees,
like elemental spirit,
laugh at the faceslaps of daggered L' eaves.
More speed....

My Winter
January Hikes

January brings blue skies and sun
As the icy air turns waterfalls
Now to glassy stalactites that hang
Under rocky ledges. Crystal walls
Are around us as we crawl behind
Ripples of translucent shining ice.
Yearly we are seeking out this cave,
Hiking through a frozen paradise.
It’s the perfect spot to stop for tea
Kept hot in the flask. We sit a while,
Eat a bite, and then continue on
Snowy forest trails another mile.

Divorce Club
((Haiku))
Love seems endlessly
Then stalactites stalagmites
Divorce comes for sure

((Limerick))
She walk down the isle smiling in white dress
In the courthouse in black dress, what a mess
Lovers dancing on the sand
Divorce and money in hand
Got her money's worth, who laughs last laughs best

((Couplet))
The guy thinks he can outsmart the girl
The girl knows after divorce she owns his world

Listen to poem:
Ice Hangings
David J Walker

My backward
Paradise
Has entered an
Extended season
Of unexpected ice

Unwelcomed
Not needed in
The February storm

That formed after an
Abnormally warm week
Of unwinter like weather

Winter has moved back in
decorating with
ice hangings like
stalactites formed
over a week of
bitter cold nights
that at any moment
might come crashing down

The thing is
we are bound to have
warmer weather again
but not until
Spring sets in...

A Storm Rushes In
A crocodile-hide sunset,
a ferrous squall;
somethings boiling up there.

Storm gulls
beat mosquito clouds away
as they flee.

Ten wild horses corralled in a dumpster
hammer my fearless heart.

An anemic sky gulps for breath
near or far
a brawling trample scuffs the earth.

The dimming light drips strings
of gelid spittle.
Vaporous stalactites shred an acrid air.

Now a ferrous rain cuffs and pelts.
I hide my face from its eyes,
follow a screaming ghost
into the house....
