Always playing the fool, belittles self to buffoon.
Cap with bells belies the deep sad truth within.
Like blue-black ink squirts from octopus threatened,
    joking is a smoke-screen hiding deep-seated inadequacy,
    made worse by audience's insatiable need for jokes.
Like 'Cool Hand Luke', the jester, always in demand,
    when really pressed, spurts out: "Stop feedin' off me"....

Iced tea's sipped from a mason jar.
Lemon sun squirts light from afar.
Ruffled parasols relieve some
from relentless heat as green thumbs
plant colorful chrysanthemums.
Barefeet tap to the earth's rhythm.
On sighing summer breeze, bees hum.
Perched on the front porch swing, I strum
a simple chord as neighbors come
and join the carefree song. They drum
to the lazy day's mellow bars
until our light shines from the stars....

My head, now a boiling cauldron
From my pen, thoughts bleed red, 
in a broken stream muddled up  
They do not have a neat flow
They come out in squirts,
leaving scarlet stains,
a monochrome of blotches of hurt and sadness
Still I feel such instant relief,

Carved by water flowing down to sea
Recycling raindrops sucked from ocean
Carried in puffs of clouds to highlands
To fall as rain feeding river flows
Sustaining life that thrives in currents
In rapids, trickles, waterfalls, swirls.
Life adapted to flow, stir and surge
That replenishes oxygen, food
In drips, squirts, spurts, splash, currents and flows.
Pulsing flow of rivers down drainage
Mirrors our blood flow circulation....
