Premium Member Adieu

Adieu

Red cricket
Flirts with the rising moonglow,
Feels the first icy fist of frosty breath subdue
The summer chorus serendipity
In a cold moon shadow -
Summer troubadour bids "Adieu!"

Premium Member A Wandering Wind

A wandering wind
  whispered a tune
caressing our skin
  with the softness of June

November's bluster expunged
as into loving arms we plunged
Two lingering leaves swept along
  by mid-summer's dream-song

Years ago I wrote a jingle for a real store.
They didn't know I did, but I did.

The soda pop shop
The soda pop shop
Be sure to stop
In the soda pop shop
If it ain't pop
We ain't got it

Soaring in orange
kingfisher blue in the sun
beyond red roses
Afternoon has come softly
smothered by the summer heat

Oblivious bird
making the most of each day
by still silver lakes
Trills dawn to sunset curtains
purple and wrapped in diamonds

  summer serenade

Summer nights are a symphony of sounds - crickets, cicadas, bullfrogs, mocking birds - a lullaby of soothing song. I look forward to this symphony every year.

Colors in the trees
They're decked out for summer fest
in raspberry days
At last the get together
Seasons come but once a year

Here comes red robin
for the sunshine singalong
as jay sings the blues
amidst dark berries galore
in the middle of the year

Summer Evenings

Listen to poem:
Summer evenings stroll on
With their melodies strong
And their playful wishes well-fed

Sunsets arrive in full glory
With a daring, keen story
Reluctant to cast us to bed

The skies blush and they croon
Kiss hello to the moon
and blossom in purple and red

dandelion seeds, blowing across the summer’s silence rising up, a full moon – glowing with its music, its poetry singing to the stars with their radiance, sparkling, wistful while autumn thrives in her clearest skies, with tender clouds and the winter breathes her music in flakes who create drifts COLOR MY MOOD Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Nette Onclaud Written on May 25, 2025

Evensong

The wind blows, weaving through the trees
The song of evening in the breeze
A warmth of love and light and song
A joyful beat when days are long

The light fades softly from the sky
The swan-winged clouds let out a sigh
A tune too soft to put to word
The sweetest song that’s e’er been heard

A golden sunset in the sky
The evenbirds let out a cry
A story of the days grown long
The beauty of sleeping evensong
