Michael Jackson
Shunned media interaction--
Timid with gals, he rarely talked
But wowed 'em as he rocked and moonwalked.
they used to store our funds
fatten ‘em into rotunds
but when interest
got sliced the thinnest
their funds got fat, ours got shunned
He thought he’d be the toast of town,
Though most just see him as a clown,
Wasn’t invited to royal wedding ball,
Now not even to McCain’s funeral.
A man got shunned from a haven
The host made rules that were craven.
Peers banned his prize joke
for fear of the woke
Proud noses were pecked by his raven.
For a week he had feigned being ill
“neath a blanket of leaves he lay still
And just for effect
He shunned circumspect
Playing dead right next to the grill
Shunned by silence,
no hope at all,
There are no messages--
no texts; no calls.
What saddens most,
in this quiet end,
is I only really ever
wanted to call him Friend.
Dogs clearly possess it
Elephants care for young
Foxes protect their young kits
Giraffe’s calves are never shunned
But can they actually embrace them?

Good ol' dependable, hardworking Janet
Is shunned like a rock from an alien planet
With a heart of pure gold
She's a gem to behold
And will no longer be taken for granite

A lonesome young mutt in Kalamazoo
Was so downcast he kept out of view
Just a schnauzer pug-mix
Shunned by smug pure-bred chicks
He’s found true love with his dear cockapoo

So solemn stunning small smelly strong sweet,
so scary and seen shunned shiningly sheen
... it was a stunning strikinglyscene

Written words by James Edward Lee Sr 2020
A bright shiny quarter was rolling its way
toward a young man with large bills to pay
The nickel rolled by, ignored and shunned
~ all the young man’s accounts were dunned
There was once a hot cutie named Finch
Who was quite a flirtatious young minx
On St Pat's she shunned green
And dressed quite libertine
With ambitions of getting a pinch

Secret Or Not?
(Snapper)
I’m hot
Not not.
Tell all
Sell all.
But no
Can ho.
Talked shop
No pop.
Credence
Sentence.
Then shunned
Well tonned.
Oh well
All’s well.
Her life
Was very hard
People shunned her a lot
Her behavior like a puppy
Jumping toward possibility of friends
Turning them off and down quickly
Alarming sensitives
Her choices made
Her life
There’s a haven beyond
all praise and blame,
where true writing can repose
All time on the run,
consensus lay shunned
—the truth neither friend nor foe
(Villanova Pennsylvania: September, 2019)
Transforms the heart to a bigger size,
Raises the stakes in a relationship,
Unseals a new world for someone shunned,
Spurs confidence in the integrity of another, and
Takes effort for someone hurt in the past.
Laughter has run
Through the hall ways of time
Has been hushed
Has been shushed
Has not been shunned away
Yes Laughter is a language
Every human can speak
From ancient to the modern
No- laughter won’t cease.
I speak against those who are manipulating weather
Patterns, for ill purpose especially' this is the preserve of God alone.' I speak
Confusion to such individually, may they be shunned
To live misrably, and die alone.)
humming honeybees
collect nectar from flowers
shunning one of them
the blooms smile despite sun’s glare
the one shunned wilts in despair

For M. L. Kiser's Tanka Contest Poetry Contest
There once was a man from Warangal
who stirred up quite a big scandal,
He loved a good girl gone bad
She was the best he yet had,
So was shunned as a hardcore vandal.

~Limerick contest by JAN ALLISON
A cup of tea
half-hot, half-cold
doesn't sit well with me
A loaf of bread
half-dough, half-baked
instant tummy ache
A couple of buns
one firm and round
the other
shunned
If a prisoner gets beaten,
Who cares?
If a mental patient is tortured,
Who cares?
If an antagonist is blackballed,
Who cares?
If a prankster is shunned,
Who cares?
If people like these are mistreated,
Who cares?
I do.

Did they believe
Their faith alone would not grant
Certainty in their protection
That they would be
Cast aside
Debt of imperfection
And disloyalty
Shunned unworthy
For what only
Amounted to
One mistake
No matter how much
They disagree?
In numbness I bask
Stripped of joy, stripped of agony
A vessel that’s hollow
Life’s curse, life’s sweet irony
The gods I ask
Cruel, unrelenting
Shunned with silence
Dejected, spiting
The sun sets
Glaring, mocking
Shadows are cast
The world is dying
My eyes avoid meeting your tongue,
For they abhor the sight of enchanted lung.
My breaths’ casted in hell,
Where I respire amongst broken bells,
My heartbeat enclosed in an abandoned cell.
All to prevent being stung by virtue shunned cause of cursed spell.
