Drifting On the Wind

The snowflakes drift upon the wind
And settle on the windowsill
But also on the winter winds
Comes the sting of winters chill

On Words

Writing about writing is cheating

But I do it still

In the dark

Letting the desk’s dust settle on my vocal chords

Vibrating in a quiet moan

She's Gone

a single owl screech
breaks the silence,
the Hunter's moon
waxes blue
ice chills the aging bones-
blowing on the east wind
flurries ,fine and dry
settle on her grave.

October Sky

grasses and trees stay calm
under the dark sky
at dusk

as sun moves to the west
birds settle on trees
night comes

silence broken
movement and noise from the pond
crawlers awake

Willing

I just need to undo all those horrible possibilities…

And choose one that is not too condemned.

I can settle on a future that reflects my abilities.

So that I can be willing instead of restless.

Free Someday

Scars settle on my wrist, recording all my pain
Blood seeps from the new cuts, flowing gently from my arm
Tears running down my face, as I choke back my sobs
Someday I will be free, from the pain that chains me

Random Thoughts 1: Face wash

I wash my face twice a day
Once vigorously
As if I am exercising demons
Residing in my pores
And once gently
In circular, sweeping movements
Like I am washing away the crust of tears
That have come to settle on my cheeks

Lighting Bugs

Lightning bugs, they Look like they have a blazing fire inside them, they will never hurt me, they will never make Me cry. Fireflies, like 1000 little flickering stars have Come to Earth, They comfort me as they settle on the horizon.

Race To My Heart

damn butterfly's
you are not helping
I'm still confused
My heart lingers between them
unknown is the direction it will go
I feel the butterfly's
when their eyes settle on mine
now the question is
who will make the first move
come get me boys
make me yours

The Illiterate Goose

In the field across from me,
a sign as plain as it can be.
“Oats planted for the birds”, I read.
The flying geese pay it no heed,
and spying a stand of winter wheat
they settle on that crop to eat.
It’s testament to the absurd
a farmer puts up a sign for birds.

Butterfly's Death

To love you forever is such a long time
To love you while I am alive is of lesser time
I am your butterfly and you my unicorn
I fly from flower to flower and never settle on one
As your butterfly I want to rest on my unicorn
In time I may or not, who knows
Only death is certain, then only can I rest

Stunning Springtime

Bright butterflies love warm weather
They sometimes settle on beautiful blooms
Tall tulips, pretty pansies,
Lush lilacs, see vibrant visitors.
Little lambs drink mum’s milk
Then gambol gaily on green grass
Flora, fauna of scenic spring

Autumn Alouette

Autumn Alouette

Autumn slips away -
Pearly mists of grey
Settle on the scarlet leaves;
Fields now seem forlorn
Gone the wheat and corn
Bundled into golden sheaves.

Daylight seems to mourn
Passing days and storms
Umber glories litter streets;
Crystal frost now plays
In a pumpkin haze
After days of solstice heat.

Love

The day that we became to be
Been nothing but amazing to me
You make me feel complete
And no other feeling can compete
You are my shining start
That I gaze at from afar
Reminiscing our love
That can be represented by two doves
Are we truly meant to be?
We would have to wait and see
If we are settle on a date
To spend our life together eternally.

My Soul At Sunset

With a golden smile, I lower myself; then slathered out like apricot jam, I brighten on the horizon until I glow bittersweet. Flaming coral, I now settle on the beach. Yielding to night, my soul slips into sea. April 16, 2020 for Chantelle Anne Cooke's Slipping Soul Sunsets Into The Sea Poetry Contest

Ways of Providence

He stood, arms, legs, outstretched, seemingly biding
in that lambent light against, darkening grey
where summer heat and storm are oft colliding;
in some time, the rain will come, yet not today.
Ancient dust will settle on his naked breast
slowly bake between the Sun and human sweat;
as his shadow slowly shifts from East to West
he knows, again, his payers have not been met.

My Future Is Today

My Future Is Today Miracle Man 9-1-2023 Often, mind’s found in unwanted places, and I recall a face but not the name. Time has been kind and left a few traces, but still sometimes I will often misname. I try living life one day at a time, But sometimes my thoughts settle on the past. I don’t make many plans beyond bedtime, for today’s sunrise just might be my last.

Footprints

It's winter time. Frosty, snowy, magical. You're walking along a path, treading lightly, jumping over snowdrifts as if you were carried by the swirling particles. Snowflakes settle on your coat, like crystal hair clips they decorate your hair. The warmth of your breath brings the air to life and your footprints - light, carefree, joyful remain in memory forever.

No Anchor For Rancour

Listen to poem:
vexed to gall no anchor for rancour remains no safe harbor for grudges on crutches nor bitterness born of regret's aftertaste for we agreed to differ, with our bygones forgone to move on to settle on a calmer, sheltered shore, where rancour's chains and anchors hold fast no more and we'll ride out the tempest with sails lee-bowed or on ashore let it be, let it be, let the rancour be done!

But Love Still Endures

But love still endures
Of that be sure
Quiet your mind
unthink those thoughts
Settle on this
Devotion is a thirst unquenchable
Add life's savory sauce
But love still endures
We move on
A bountiful quest for more
Galore love no less with
Lusciousness it appears from
Looming but still endures Assuming
with reason and grooming.
It endures renewing.
With quiet charisma.
And placid crescendo
It endures.

A Smile To Blush, Petrarchan Sonnet

To see you flash a smile to blush
Small twinkle in your eyes of green
I look and want for that scene
Watching from my hidden brush
I think I might have a crush
My heart overflows and teems
Can this lust ever be weaned
I settle on your desk like dust

An inkling you must have old friend
I’ve seen the way you stare
I’m trying to look back at you
Reciprocate what you send
Glancing back, am I that fair
Pasdiin is always a dare.

Mom

I feel like touching a bark of tree
In your garden in the spring.
I’d like to settle on your knee -
Mom, hear my piteous crying!

Recall your dreams about your child.
I heard you say, “No!” What did you mean?
Give up the mad idea – it's so wild.
I’d also like to love and dream...

Mom, let me see the sun and the moon,
Let me listen to your beating heart.
Everything I want is to see you soon.
Hear my silent scream. Let me start...

India

India

This beautiful country is in the gripe of the pandemic.
Pyre after pyre burns in the night.
Ash and ashes fill the mourners settle on their clothes
and death is inhaled.
The people of this ancient land are stoic because
they know that there is no death, only a continuation
of life.
No politician can break the pact the Indian people have
with the past and future; and wordless Gandhi the great
river flows into a new beginning.

Shivering Heart Trimeric

The vestige of a shivering heart
a tremor through your whole body;
It’s difficult to hold your balance
regulation starts to plummet;

A tremor through your whole body
igniting violent cold creeps;
Nothing able to make them stop;

It’s difficult to hold your balance
when your guts are a frozen flutter;
Regurgitating all your remains;

Regulation starts to plummet
until your hands settle on your chest,
calming the ripples on your skin.
