Searching For Moonlight
Like a lost sea turtle inching
Threw sand
Searching for the beams of moonlight
Shining a way to the sparkling blue ocean
I search for your love
And I've found it...

Newborn Loggerhead
Tiny sea turtle; creeps its way across white beach sands to sea.
Newly hatched reptile, learning to swim into his new life; he’s free.
One day, he will grow into a very fine loggerhead.

Giant Sea Turtle Saved the Day
The giant sea turtle saved the day by being the ride for many.
He rescued a pelican, a cat, a penguin and a dog named Penny.
Their ship went down, and they were at the mercy of the waves.
If not for turtle, they would all be in watery graves....

The Boy Who Swallowed the Sea
I once had a friend
who swallowed the sea,
with a thirst so great
it was awesome to see.
Gulping down water,
in large mouthfuls he drank.
Then into the sea,
I was pushed and I sank!
Sitting on a sea turtle,
I yelled up, "Please stop!
I'm sorry I poured
pepper sauce in your pop."...

Lost
When I lost a tear in the ocean, it was gone forever. With that tear, I soared the
darkness that the water hid. I felt the cold night kiss from a sea turtle lost in ones
peak. Will you find my tear cowering in it's darkness? When you find my tear, my love
will end forever.

My Green Sea Turtle
wonderful slick shell,
Brown and golden, the color of a shell.
That perfect shaped shell.
The shell of my turtle i know too well.
You are the greenest.
The most bravest.
And fastest (i think)
And maybe the smartest too.
You slick and slide,
And glide on by,
The water is what you love.
And you swim in the water, like a dove in the sky.

Star-Fins
Child sculpting with delight,
a sea turtle from sand
Details of a geometric shell,
design carved with a stick,
eyes of two perfectly round,
worn- flat sea pebbles and four
well- placed fins.
If an unseen force were to
animate these features
and sea-ready fins
It would race for the breakers,
not looking back to see
who was its Creator....

Snotty Haughty Sea Turtle
Snotty haughty sea turtle.
Stuck up
Barely speaking to other sea creatures
Much ado about nothing
Snotty haughty sea turtle
Mean to others
For decades
Now trying to pretend you are not haughty?
Snotty haughty sea turtle
Waving now
Pretending you have a heart
Might as well go back into your shell.
Snotty haughty sea turtle.
Too late
Too arrogant.
Too you....

I Choose To Be a Leatherback Sea Turtle
If there is reincarnation
and we get to choose another animal
I shall come back as a leatherback turtle
all humpback and proud
I will be eight foot long, and weigh two thousand pounds
Intimidating and formidable, I would stare down sharks
whales would marvel at my thick swimmers legs
I would swim my weight around in the sea
enjoying my days floating and eating
not doing math of any kind...

Castles Will Fall
As the waves slow creep ashore
drawn by the lunar tug
approach the castle’s gate
crabs skitter in the moonlit surf
soggy French fries, extra salt
seagulls lean into stiff winds
a sea turtle teases the tide
a distant light cautions all
as cool mist muffles a horn
castle’s will crumble, flags fall
history slowly recede
into endless lunar tides
the castles will rise again
new flags wave in shifting winds
as the waves slow creep away

Green Sea Turtle
The sea unleashes its children green
seeking a sandy shielded defense and
swimming wings for legs, scraping
their way from seaweed waters at low
tide the sea awakens...
Those crusted, frothy shells demand
their way toward the grasses as destiny
calls. Barely an eye to see, eroded like a
silver spoon, they plummet forward
jerky as a scared dog, tumbling at each
step... heavy trucks bumping over a
rocky road. As the gods would have
it they succeed to lay their eggs
on shore....
