School Days

School day memories,
Were Maths and literacy,
Did compound interest, you see,
Before decimal currency,
Had no calculators,
Used our brains, good for later!

Premium Member Note To Kindergarten Teachers

Tired of teaching
  Critical Race Theory?
  (whatever that may currently be)
And maybe you are pronoun weary
That's ok ~ Just make school days fun and cheery

Premium Member Good Old School Days

Asked to write a poem
  about Ancient Greece and Rome
The witty student said he would
but he really didn't know 'em

Not one to be outdone
the wily prof shot back ~
Plus a five-page paper
  analyzing your wisecrack

For the Graduate

For the Graduate

Your school days are done;
graduation has come.
It's time to rest.

Cause a job comes tomorrow;
to pay what you borrowed,
for all those debts.

Premium Member Ready For the Nuclear Bomb In 1957

in the fifties, back in my school days, we hid under desks
anticipating the nuclear bomb we thought Russians were sending
not all of our body fit under there, but we still had to do it
Because if that bomb was coming, we wanted to be ready

reading to ourselves

never speaking verse aloud

do we miss the point

Note: I was reminded of this aspect of poetry when my wife recently recited one of her
favourite poems to me from her school days by Walter De La Mare 'Off the Ground'.

School Days

Wet plates of brainy salad
stalling amongst stale French Verbs
The severed heads of Queens
rot alongside the Thames
Sullen rain for the beavered
stuttering in its grief
The pretence of concentration
gapples with flames fury
amongst dusty books

Graduation

High School days are in the past,
Your childhood bliss is gone.
Future blessings you'll unfold,
As time marches on.......

May each one that comes your way,
bring joy, success and love,
Blessed by the greatest teacher
Our Heavenly Father above....

Steve Säid
None so brave
Did on so many occasions
save
Me from the bullies
Who
For far too many
Their school days ruin

Steve Säid
Jet black hair swept back
Coffee coloured skin
Immaculate

How the girls did swoon
Oh, how I wished I could have been like you

School Days 3

School Days 3
Can't find my homework.
The dog must have eaten it.
Missed the bus.So I had to walk next door to the school.
Mom is going to get mad. I got a F for lunch.
The day is almost over.
I watch the clock with care.
Then it happens.I wake up!
Then I think it's only the second day of school.

Premium Member Make Someone's Day

Some 58 years ago, he taught me algebra in high school.
About 15 years ago, I gave him a call, just to say hi.
He said he did not remember me, and that was okay.

We talked a bit about this and that, and I told him
How much I had admired him from my high school days.
In closing, he said, "You made my day".

Premium Member A Birthday Wish For Will

On William Shakespeare's special day
I would this much like to pray

That future generations find a way
To fill a part of their school days
Midst the wonder of his plays

You'll not understand every word he wrote - OK
But a precious line or two make sure to file away
~ To revisit down the road, on a rainy day

School Days

School days
There is something these days
I will see.
As the days become shorter for the year I do hear.
Children now begin to jump for joy.
As they run to their buses not with toys.
Buses here ,Buses there now buses ever where.
Traffic becomes just a real joke A real slow poke.
School days are here.
WOW! the quite of the storm.

School Days 2

School days 2
Up in the morning, I due dread.
Running and screaming I hear in bed.
Back to school what a joy.
Reading, writing and no toys.
The roar of buses I hear them come.
Schools days prepare to begin.
Buses here and buses there.
When is the buses going to end?
I hear someone one shout "is it summer yet"
And It's the first day of school.

Memories of Home

Memories of Home
I wish home is near , wow how i missed the family gathering
Meeting my friends and reminiscing our school days
The best part of growing up, fighting with my cousins and exchanges words which Fijians are known for
Our tavales are our rivalries which we can say whatever
This lock down is not doing any good to us

I wish if I can bring back time

Premium Member A Note on Graduation Day

This day has finally come
Your future has now begun
School days are all you know
Into your dreams you will now grow
Looking back, so many years
Moving forward brings many tears
A whole new life lies in wait
It's up to you which destiny you create
Future beyond, you hold inside of your hand
Inspiration of dreams only you understand
Your journey into life has begun
Because your time has finally come

Premium Member Memories Made

I walk down memory lane
for nothing remains the same
new ones born
old ones die
life passes us by
new ones arrive
some move on
ever changing
perpetual motion
school days gone
children grew up
grandchildren arrive
retirement here
time ran fast
many memories made
precious in old age
for what the future holds
no one knows
glad to be part
of that memory
for a season, a reason
or a lifetime.

Days Are Gone

Great days, great nights gone away
Leaving behind their memories
Which relish me in some way
The anxieties and worries
Of the school days remind me a way
In which I used to live

The days are gone away
Now is the college life giving tensions and worries
And some scary movies…
And some little good ways
In which I remember god in hourlies
The days are gone…
The days are gone….
Leaving behind their memories…….

Premium Member Yesterdays

One thinks back
Nightly to one's school days on the
Eerie edge of
Sleep.

Soon, one is there again,
Cavorting with the rest:
Hello again to Best,
Or making up with Shell
Or "what's her name", or
Lee.

Does Best think one is old
After years have passed?
Yesterdays in dreams
Shift steadily with Lee.

A Piece of Clay

Very adornment it is,refuse to go away.Appearing again, again in my memory lanes like vehicles.A piece of clay to rumble the ways all I wanted to make everything that for me in my school days. Now working for my livelihood coming many things within my reach for money still some shortfalls in life unlike my school days with clay.Amazing this world that I let on to live with money everything how nice those olden days that a piece of clay played?
