Swim
Somedays, the tide only laughs
at the sandbags we put up.
When the ocean of emotion
breaks with waves above our hearts,
we swim or drown.

The swell of current overrides
and riptides pull us down.
Move parallel to shore against the tide
till firmer ground is found.
Swim.

Fire Fight
How very inconsiderate,
dieing in the open;
shirking anonymity
behind the raging green.

You avoided the cacophony,
left random bullets blameless,
then when your God
abandoned You,
He left

just You,

alone;
refused to leave your ruined face
behind the mangled sandbags,
or in a shallow foxhole,
instead of here,

with Me...

Premium Member Raging Water
We
are
losing
the battle
with raging water.
Millions of sandbags have failed us,
and many have had to sadly walk away from their homes, now
the bridge is closed, hydro is down, hope is gone, and more rain is expected.

Ode To Endometriosis
Strong, like kingdom walls,
stacks of sandbags, swamps of quicksand,
or barricades of filigreed barbed wire.
It holds me inside.

I can see myself in eleven years.
Perched on sterile metal instead of
mountains of handmade quilts,
or nests of woven moss.

It will have turned love-making and child-bearing
from an art to a science,
and I will paint pictures
of how being a woman is supposed to feel....

Sandbags Against the Reverie of Your Woe
I stacked sandbags against the reverie of your woe,
created a dam to ensure you’d stay safe and dry-
Then the tempest came and you drown in the undertow.
I knew the risks barriers bestowed as you let go,
you knew not I saw the whole thing; you didn’t even try.
I watched the ripples in the reverie as you sank below.

Premium Member After The Flood

The flood waters are rising, and rising.
             The sandbags didn't keep out
                   All the creepy crawlies.

Caution! Do not wade into the water!
            Houston, we've got a problem;
                  Alligators and snakes!

Call for help and get the heck out of dodge;
You might lose a limb or two,
                   Or suffer a worse fate!

A Bad Day
Cloudy turbulent skys full of destruction,
Clap of thunder the downpour begins,
Sandbags piled up the door,
Waves are lashing the shore,
Flooding begins to start,
The drains can't cope they overflow,
And still the deluge continues,
The sandbags not enough,
Flood water gains access,
Furniture piled up high,
The rain just doesn't care,
Flooding gets higher and on the stirs,
It's time to evacuate leave now...
