Bifocals

Through the window of connectedness,
    the landscape grins.
 Introspective roadways?—
    nursery clay.
All the somber mountains—
    props in a play.

Drizzle

.
raindrops
                   pitter patter
click clack first light then fast
mist rises from drives and roadways
drizzle

Nostalgia In the Haze

intimate season abode
snow gateway
towel
sands at sundown
veranda
keep an eye out
in the roadways

I bore a portrait
because it ne'er was

keep it veiled
in the cloud
from my musings
only this
Wandering verdict
echo
unused passion

Insecurities

Roadways and divided highways and destinations to encounter unexpectedly treading on thin ice. Headed
Into a dead-end no outlet to take unconsciously.
Directions were given were very diminutive and insecurities
entered to forms judgments of self doubt and vulnerability visited.

Rugged Maps

Topography- embrace its meaning
Open roadways- visually gleaning

State boundaries- further we'd proceed
Connect-the-dots- we'd follow their lead

Deepened creases- a wider landscape
Artful tearing- revived with clear tape

Thumbprint dirt stained- unplanned souvenirs
Revisited- discovered frontiers

The Mighty River Flows

The mighty river flows,
He has the power to keep its motion,
a force of impressive water running
through the lower mouths of
deep canyons and along the
ribbon of wending roadways,
a determined waterway,
insisting on carrying its
inhabitants to spawning
pools awaiting life and death,
an irony of God.

A Best Life's That Takes

a best life's that takes
                             best way for construction through
                                        communication

                                 where there's no roadways
                                inland water air ways' there
                                  striving makes fair there

Robust Remembrance

Rivers rinse rocky riches
Rockets race revolutionary reaches
Rudeness rusts royal rewards
Righteousness reflects real ranks
Radios recreate retro refreshments
Relaxations restart revolting ranges
Roadways route routine regulations
Rational rage renders realisations
Restaurants reap ripe reviews
Readers remember robust resources.

One Tree Stands Alone

Sentinel amid the dunes, watching, waiting, thriving, a bird tower standing tall upon unending sands that, roll out their own roadways. A green skyscraper in the distance; horizon dot, between two realms. Courageous bastion of wisdom... a tree, stands alone; testament to Nature’s fortitude.

Navigating Through the Curves

her hope
slipping like bare tires
on wet roadways

she can't navigate
through the curves
of this crazy life

she's spinning
out of control
an emotional wreck
unable to break free

she is somber
like these winter days
raining down on her

her tears
gather together
in a stream of pain
as muddied as the puddles
on these roads
she travels
alone

Yielding

It's not a matter of confrontations face to face.
Like most things, it's all about time and space.

Highways and roadways are designed for travelers.
The motorists may be workers or vacationers.

Lanes have their basic function and purpose,
And it's very vital that we learn to focus.

Your lane is mine; My lane is your lane.
Yielding is often the key to avoiding pain.

Halloween Newsflash --- Say-Hey

Hearken, hear ye, what we say
   O'er runways and roadways
      Swirling snowflakes
         are falling today
   Sidewalks, slushy and slick
      need new navigation
         in a festive way

   So, Say-Hey and Yay
      All you trick-or-treaters
   It's time to break out
      Your Halloween sleighs!

Mind Sets

Scarcely had dawn lit the town…
Nighties hugged tight around…
Onlookers at an overnight transformation…
Winter wonderland’s aspiration!

People light the fire and consider…
Let others go outside and take risks.
Only those truly dedicated few
Understand and act on loving neighbours, through
Getting everything prepared as they go…
Heavy clothing to protect from snow, they
Shovel roadways with their ploughs…

On the Roadways of the Sky

On the roadways of the sky,
we are not even the butterflies
even though some say candle about Sun
and God is not recognized in the Earthly House.

We are bragging of companion worlds,
shaky beings yes, we are
and not even butterflies –
only jealous of their flight.

As the burning candle soon expires,
so is our might
and the idle is desire -
we are masters in the empty House.

Port To Port

We move with wheels that whip and whir
a human hive, spinning with a purpose
cohesive and connected, in one accord.

By the sweat of the brow, legs churning
we flow with the wind, with beating hearts
racing along roadways and up steep hills.

Now we are cascading downwards
with great abandon, locked in, hooked
hooked on the ride and to each other…

…as we race towards the setting sun.

Each New Day

        It's a new day today,
     New challenges ahead,
  New things to be explored,
New roadways to be tread.

        Each day has its lessons,
From which we get to learn,
  Sometimes, there are new risks,
Which teach us to discern.

Let us thank and praise God,
     Each day as we commence,
  And He'll carry us through
Each new experience.

Roadways

There is a pulling in my heart,
The cause of which I do not know;
Perhaps a longing for the past,
Or making room for love to grow

Whichever way my heart is led –
Down dusty roads that leave me cold,
Or cobbled streets that catch the sun –
I know it will be for the best

For whether I find love or pain,
My heart will beat just as it has,
Not fearing darkness that awaits,
Though roads must end, and end the same.

Brake Time

Chasing of dreams through time shaken seasons
Forming and shaping of whispery wills
Weaving and wending through common place living
Crutches and handholds like miracle pills
Places to go to when breathers are needed
Hammocks of cool shaded quiet away
Beside hot rutted roadways of unending hills
Questions and answers and working all day
A cold glass of poetry sipped on the way
Held in a callused and tremoring hand
Still ready and willing to play

Ways and Means

The question is not whether education is the key,
but rather if we know the pathway to the door.

Ignorance does not inform us of the ways and means,
but education does so indeed inform and acknowledges

that there are options and roadways unique to the
destiny we seek. When very young, my kids were often

reminded by me to pursue an education with the
understanding that education was its own reward.

Slightly Salty

Winter’s expense salt crafted chug holes mis-align my wheels; the auto-wash has gone up another fifty cents during COVID and I fell on the icy steps. Salty white skim coats the roadways; two inches of solid ice and a five mile per hour drive to the grocery has taken two hours. No, I don’t think my soup needs that condiment today... now, where did I put the garlic?
