My first word, “Mama”
According to my mother.
Next I said, “Papa”
Which almost rhymed, said father.
So my first poem was born
caterpillar days
of deliciousness led to
chrysalis musings
when lovely rhymed lines emerged -
fluttering wings of romance
Bubbling in a glass.
Served icy cold in bucket.

There once was a poet
though he didn't really know it
his words fickle but rhymed fluently
as he nickel and dimed smoothly
Too bad he blew it.
In truth Clare Quilty
Was clearly guilty,
While humble Humbert Humbert
Was fervently pervert.
The issue to talk of
What told us Nabokov ?
Hush
Hear
Listen
To my heart -
Thumps at odds with my
Ribcage whose beats hymn nothing but
The off-rhymed melodic orchestration of your name
It seems one poet's pet beef
Is causing our readers some grief
Although ink may bleed
He may not succeed
Unless "deaf" can be rhymed with "leaf"

Seems there was a dyslexic poet;
nothing rhymed but he didn’t know it.
He thought he knew better;
he swapped out the letters
and poured him a tall glass of Motë.
A marathon 70 plus 6 lined rhymed ababcc stanza poem ..more an essay than a poem ..which perhaps would have been a better genre for this philosophical 'famous' piece
