Life’s a series of ups and downs
    some days smiles, others frowns

  Men revel in fictitious conquests
    women dream of wedding gowns

Premium Member Summing up America's Election in Four Pithy Lines

     Trump won, Harris lost
Gobs of money, the election cost

     Polls wrong again, predictions tossed
Revelers and grievers, both get sauced

So here's to Happy Tubby Tuesday,
The big New Orleans jazz & blues day,
With the drunken revelers en masse...
On second thought, let's give it a pass.

Miri It Is

Merry it is while summer lasts
with downing of hop-sips
Trees sway in their earthen cast
Sweets upon lips
Honey from wax combs drips
into the mouths of revelers vast
Sun rays fill hearts fast

"alphabet Playground"

Apples
become
cider,
Dragons
emit
fire,
Ghosts
haunt
Inns,
Jealousy
kills
Love,
Moons
naturally
orbit,
Police
question
revelers,
Stars
twinkle
uniquely;
Various
worrisome
Xrays
yield
zilch!

Premium Member Halloween Moon

When the shouting has died down,
Look up at sun-kissed moon.
Revelers can go -
Halloween has no tune.

Premium Member Masks

Revelers wear masks without complaint
On Halloween, which makes me wonder
Why we find it hard to practice restraint,
     Commonsense and friendships we squander
By casting good scientific practices asunder.

Premium Member Making Music

The room spun round and round -
blurred revelers rocked and watched

light steps in perfect time,
no need to hear its melody nor
cadence sung to sweet refrains.

She, the maestro of memories,
bathes in a reverie of ... yesterdays;
dancing to the music only she can hear -

yet all can feel.

Cognitive Dissonance

The daily slideshow
'Editor's Pick'
shows drunken revelers
high on an orgy
of celebration
interspersed with
devastation
in war zones
and a man who killed because -
'Get out of my country'
a hate crime
the slow scroll of images
presented in a microcosm
of the world today
no wonder the refugees
look confused

The Carnival

And the revelers move in a parade
Belly dancers, clowns and people with masks
Ending with music, food and dance
This a preparation for the arrival of LENT
What kind of repentance is this ??
Parading your sins before the world ??
We have it in Goa and little clubs in Mumbai
I retreat into my silent zone.
Leo Tolstoy your words to me are like gold.

On the Eve

The revelers will party.
The champagne corks will pop,
While I’m at home and won’t partake –
No, not a single drop.

As friends and family gather
To welcome in the year,
I will not join them; rather I
Will watch TV from here.

I’m feeling sick on New Year’s Eve;
No merriment – instead,
I’ll dream about the countdown
While I’m zonked out in my bed.

Premium Member Slip Jig Spring

The brook claps over the tumbled rock bed
applauding the Spring thaw
like a gaggle of Irish revelers;
setting the man high marsh grass
to dance a slip jig in the bonnie breeze.

Returning Canadian geese chorus overhead
saluting the rippling waves
in the slate gray pond.
The white undersides of their wings mimicking
the flashing and snapping of the white caps on the lake.

Blodeuwedd, Flower Face;
returns with a fiddlers bow.

Premium Member The Fiddler and the Frog

The fiddler arrived
with a wry froggy grin,
and the party was born
in the dance of the bow
'cross the taut and the tuned
through the shivers of time.

The lilly pads waltzed
and the cattails all swayed
in a dream where the revelers
hopped the morning away,
while croaking the words
to their favorite song ~~

The bulls croaked their "jug o' rums",
and the tree frogs their "ribbits"
in chirruping glee until night
    became dawn...

Premium Member Dusky Dancers

Night's falling
Slow dance
And music's drifting out of doors
Under the stars the ocean roars
Whirl dip
Fragrance fest
Mellow moon

Scarlet sunset
Almost gone
And Mars can be seen above
In the season of the dove
Diamond stars
Pearl moon
Summer dance

Warm breeze
birdsong trees
A night of color and song
And the moments move slowly along
Laughter inside
Gay revelers
Dreamy days

Premium Member Summer Fest

Strong winds are blowing in from the west As dark storm clouds gather overhead, Threatening our celebrated Summer Fest. Thunder and lightning increase the dread Special events will need to be canceled, Months of planning could not see ahead. A stage for musical acts has been disabled Disappointment reigns throughout town The city planners are feeling very unsettled, The revelers are simply feeling let down.

Wassail

Fir trees droop and brightly glisten,
street lamps cast their glow, and listen!
sounds of singing drifting lightly
o'er the air, as children sprightly
fashion snowmen, fat and jolly,
wrapped in scarves and sprigs of holly;
horse-drawn coaches softly clip-clop
down the road and past the grog shop,
revelers in gay abandon,
merry-making to distraction!
Wind-bused faces pressed to windows,
Christmas gifts in festive red bows,
all regale this night of wonder,
misery is cast asunder!
