On the Eve

The revelers will party. The champagne corks will pop, While I’m at home and won’t partake – No, not a single drop. As friends and family gather To welcome in the year, I will not join them; rather I Will watch TV from here. I’m feeling sick on New Year’s Eve; No merriment – instead, I’ll dream about the countdown While I’m zonked out in my bed.

Same with me. Never was a big new year's eve celebrant anyway. On my poem about poets and critics, I'm with you. Most contemporary poets are unreadable as far as sense is concerned. For me clarity is everything. / M

It's rough feeling miserable in bed while the party's going on elsewhere... but it would be so much worse if you actually had to get out there and fake being well. Pamper yourself and get well soon, Ilene. There will be another party next year.
