Season Reveille

SEASON REVEILLE

The chill’ed land sleeps
Grass withered dried and flaxen
Life wisely cautious
Awaits the vernal signal
Then will it stir and flourish

When one hears the morning call from chase valley
sounds of nature’s reveille upon the breeze
out of these chains that refuse to set one free
thrust of the dagger.

Reveille

every morning
now it's a recording
of a trumpet that takes
away the silence
for the already
risen to salute
the stripes and stars

even though to this
day another army
base is just a bit
away but even further
childhood memories
still remain but
now in

revelry

Misty Roses

Roses brood in thick mists
Veiled in shades of rainbows
Covered with diamond cloaks
Touched by dawn's misty grace
Morning blesses each bloom
Grey doves coo reveille

Premium Member Awaits the Dawn

The Rose awaits dawn
Jewelled tears to soothe
bird upon the wing
calls out reveille
waning moon exits.

The breeze whispers
spirit so free
shakes new born leaves
rustles the tide.

Morning breaks
azure sky
hides the stars.

Nature's
habit.

Pure.

tall thin and graceful
palm trees on a white sand beach
reach for orange skies

the day's elegance
is visible in a breeze
along beauty's path

white crested blue waves
ever searching like the wind
in a restless world

sun sits on the sea
in the cool tangerine hours
birds begin to sing

Trumpeter

TRUMPETER
Sandpaper comments,
Intolerant, indignant,
White House jihadist.

UN denier,
Mega-tweeter, Putin’s pal,
Friend of common man?

Hair like swan feathers,
Lips pursed in a brassy kiss,
No friend of Dizzy.

What Reveille wakes
Billionaire soldiers of change.
Your new president.

My Hope Is Blowing In the Wind

My hope is blowing in the wind
The sting of battle is beginning to sink in
I pray into the emptiness of a clear blue sky
The sounds of Reveille and Retreat enters my mind
The Red White and Blue the Stars and Stripes
A final salute the quietness of the evening sky
Will be my last straw of hope until I die

Reveille

When the sum of all
equation meets
The gist of
all that's true

What will be
The estimation
As we stand
both me and you

Will we stand
Upright at inspection
Will we gaze upon
The ground

Soaring as with
Eagles or
With fleshly things
Resound

May our eyes
be bright far
Seeing may our
hearts be as a child's

Filled with light
And wonder
As we
Navigate these wilds

Reveille

Reveille

It takes motion: metal screeching on metal;
A locker opening. Footsteps echo and fade on reinforced stone.
Rubber slaps the ground lazily.

Then the mourners rise, for the night lies in state.

They mingle but do not speak;
paying reverence to the ritual of Unbroken Silence.
Exaggerated actions are measured
in beds pulled and blankets folded.
Sparking rise to first light

Arrogant Custer thought he was the greatest thing since the invention of dynamite!

He took on Sitting Bull who outnumered him ten to one which wasn't very bright!

He led the Seventh Cavalry to disaster never to answer another reveille call!

"Yellow Hair" proved that old Biblical admonition, "Pride goeth before the fall!"

Bugle Call

Reveille called to the sound of a bugle
The regiment called to duty
The soldiers rally to the call

Its Politian’s that make the call
And pick the tune to bugle
Thier morals you're duty

A soldier as no choice but duty
And must answer the Politian’s call
And die at the call of the bugle

The mournful bugle called you to duty , and you answered the grim reapers call .

Faith

Last night I cried
realized no one will understand
This is for only those
Who have seen the fire
No longer trying to explain
Sleeping, Knowing I would run
Into that storm again
For the protected children
Tarnishing my soul
But I give this heart
To the overcomer
To the eye whose apple I am
Wake to the sound of reveille
Time to stand from your slumber
Who can stand against me
For the tallest stands within

Spaces Between

Every night as I dream
We're living as one
Despite the spaces
  between.

I hold you
All through the night
I wake to Reveille
and begin to cry.

The dreams
Are so real
Reality it seems
Is no big deal.

Few more weeks
And you'll be here
Those dreams are gone
I'm holding you near.

Hold me tight
And never let go
I couldn't stand and fight
If I didn't know;

Every night as I dream
We're living as one
Despite the spaces
  between.

Reveille

The sunrise is a golden, peachy delight,
replacing the treacle blackness,
of the kingdom of the night.
The brightening wakens me
from my deep insensible slumber,
and outside of my window
the songbirds grow in number,
to sing their dawn chorus,
competing to be heard,
each trying to sing much louder,
than any other bird.
So the conspiracy of our star,
and my feathered friends,
means that it is certain,
this is where my dozing ends!

That's When I'Ll Stop Loving You

When Christmas come in June
In the heat of the summer
And two moons shine at noon
In the heavens and yonder
When the cock crows at midnight
And birds croon at twilight
When with harmattan comes sleet
And white bears thrive in the heat
When the sea produces water fresh
And the Inferno freezes over
When the reveille sounds for retirement
And in war no one dies on the battlement
When all these happens, it is true
That's when I'll stop loving you.

Reveille FT. Leonardwood Mo. 1962 Miracle Man October 25, 2023 At three-thirty we arose, to trumphet chatter, It was hard to determine It’s subject matter. None of this, to us, was making any sense, now sleep is gone and so is the suspense. We’ve trouble dealing with situation at hand, Army life isn’t close to what we had planned. As “Cruits” search for solutions we endure pain, and do our best at hiding our disdain.

Premium Member Sleeping In

You wear moonlight like a dressing gown,
And every eye in the house is on you.
You’re in the spotlight, center stage,
But it’s theater enough to watch you sleep.
Take your comfort for as long as you please.
I’m never in a rush to hurry the play.
I’ve got a basket full of breakfast fruit,
And steel-cut oats just as wholesome
As my noblest intentions.
When you waken in the morning
You’ll be able then to take your fill.
Reveille is zero past whenever.

Sitting Atop Time's Pumpkin Patch

You spend many years amid some crowd their world
Marking time about shadows ? Wanting, myself to react
Perhaps spin a loop or two and nucleus how they dig it when
We loose these bolts take another bite out of Jane as Joey's tune....
Knowing there is no veneer to this child albeit volatile his, multiplex flesh
Ever transmitting, revulsive frequencies ? Rhinestone reflections colourless glass
Warped mirrors oblong shores; revolving doors phantom dreams ? In reveille.

Memorial Day

Spangled white stars
Flutter on a field of blue
In quiet glens and on hills
That that remember
In taps
The spirits resting
Beneath stone markers
The battle cries and hero’s lives
Their days, now without end,
Etched in granite
Their sacrifice
Protects
Freedom’s flowing wellspring
As meadows of red poppies
Call us to recall
And silently salute this eternal rollcall
Sounding an eternal reveille
To rise beyond the fields
Where battles rage.
