Embers

Winter whips through bones
Dispelling comfort and warmth
Yet for all its chill
My heart retains joy profuse
For our love survives untouched

That old wisdom retains
Loves shades of loneliness
Traps all stirs of sounds
Bears mounts of pains

Those Distant Stars

See those distant stars? That is what we are, A hologram in which each part Retains an image of the start, Alongside which exists the end, The road to God and art.

Premium Member the alley

the alley retains memories and secrets
things she has observed would straighten my hair
murder, mayhem and mischief
I sense her wiseness in the silence
appreciating her confidentiality

Each Memory

The shape of my spirit,
the weight of my soul

To measure the longing
of wishes unsold

Tomorrow the color
of yesterday’s stain

The taste of each memory
—this moment retains

A Clock Tom Wright 2000 Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock. Man's invention for measuring that most precious commodity, called time. A commodity which God retains control, while allowing man to determine its use.

Still With Young Outlook

This body's outer surface
Of cracking plaster
Part covered in mould
Must shelter a soul.

For this bright feels, a youth's
Its outlook retains.
In putting a name to it
Cute-ran wonderment
Who tries to sound coherent
Still loses control!

Premium Member Attitude

When mind and body feel the strain of years,
some hide away, the victims of their fears.

When time grows short and sunset is in view,
for many, life retains a rosy hue.

A necessary trait for joy-filled life
is optimism, victor over strife.

Premium Member Beautiful Significance

Becoming

"Of Awareness aware.."

An often said goal

Of meditative paths..

But seemingly an

Assumptive separation

Bedrocks a story:

A separate individual

Achieving said goal..

However~

As a story it retains

Beautiful significance...

Soul

A wide range of a majestic soul wonders
Beneath the tired eyes of a loss soul
The soul throws away the ounce of
Fight, as the body retains the stress
The stress eats away the dignity of those
Who fight, but dignity can't be defined.
I'm tired, my soul tired too.

Premium Member A Bad Man

The young man was tough
and got his job done.
A heavyweight Champ
at just twenty some.
Most of those men
who gave it a run.
Were flat on the canvas
from a right uppercut.
Iron Mike was a Bad Man
and tough as they come.
A World Champion,
He, Retains the only one.

Premium Member A Fraction of My Sense of Humor

A fraction of my sense of humor
retains and loves full blown sarcasm mode.
I have to watch it at work.
I deal with children.
They are experts at it.
At home my husband catches my barbs in his glove
Winging them past outfield to hit the fence
So we can remain in love.

Premium Member autumn faerie and her browning wand

Autumn faerie touched her wand to a yellow mum.
The mum’s colors turned crispy and an October brown.
Whether she retains her yellow next year is up to fate.
Some mums do, others do not, I never know which I have.
Autum faerie is aware, fully in the know, she rules October.

Premium Member How Still Is Our Stillness

unless the cogniser of layered stillness
as subtle intertwined layers drop away ...

unless the cogniser as pristine awareness
vaporises identity thus ceasing to sway ...

the centreless silence retains stuporousness
limited by duality shifting from night to day

Premium Member The Leaf

Do not mourn the leaf
nor seasons
mourn not starry night

everything sleeps

yet retains glitters of light

as it came to rest
on the forest floor,
speckled and brown
retains mulch appeal

near death, yet a fertile feel

Spring will bless

Winter will rightly regress --

Higher Self, Higher Power

Yes, on the edge of death
I've felt the window of eternity
It wasn't a human personality
But silence and ecstasy
Too profound for words

Was this a hallucination?
Or this body kicking adrenaline
From the impact
Of the accident

Either way
Life still retains mystery
Plenty of worlds to uncover
For a heart so bold
