Gas Station

A young man in overalls
remarked to me:
"How 'bout them Redskins?"
I couldn't think of anything
worthwhile to say, so
I refrained from speaking.

Jack and Jill Find a Thrill

When Jill fell down on Jack's weenie
She remarked that it was so teeny
Jack thought she meant "perky"
Not dried-up old jerky
But Jack had this magic beanie ....

The Lass From Sassafras

There was a sweet lass from Sassafras
Who each morn rode a large burrow to class
          But once after school
          Near killed a fellow pupil
Who remarked on the size of her ass!

The Butler’s Solution

There were once some giraffes asked to tea
They politely accepted with glee.
The butler remarked, ”Aren’t YOU tall!”
For you, our chairs are too small.
So they drank tea from outside — quite hap’ly

The Zen of Then and Now

I once remarked:
“if I knew then what I know now”

A mentor replied:
“You know now what you know now, what has changed?”

Why Flowers Bloom

You remarked
The anger
You deeply felt

As you
Unveiled yourself
In solitude

Would have
Burnt to ground
A city, yet

You make
This anger flow, like river
Of joy

To quench
The thirst
Of a desert--

And, flowers bloom to delight our eyes

Airplanes

the lady remarked that she felt her soul leave her body
when the fairground ride spun
i replied it’s just like flying but flying is better
there’s nothing else like it
she said she felt reborn upon leaving the ride

Christmas Alone

Wonder as the sentiment of a conjuring
Subtlety akin to morning
Glories, fall as snow remarked
In solemn note, a veil to reckon
Alighted through the spirit so chilling
The familiar light as a darkened compact
But as christening the bounty of hall
Would wait appealing to the homily
As done the dancing of the mood

HIS TALE

He pressed onward
Unsure of his destination,
Smiling as the storm intensified—
Tearing at the sails, loosening the rudder.
His smile was not born of humor
But from recognizing his own strength
In the face of adversity.
"It's a beautiful chaos," he remarked
When questioned about his calm.
For he understood
That to unburden oneself
Is to find relief.

'to Find Yourself'

Socrates* once wisely remarked, “To find yourself, think for yourself,” For me, his meaningful words sparked Socrates once wisely remarked. With this maxim, my life embarked, I took his wise words off the shelf. Socrates once wisely remarked “To find yourself, think for yourself.”

How Come You Know Me

Philip to Nathaniel said, “I have found
in Nazareth one foretold to be crowned.”
     “From Nazareth could
     come anything good?”
Nathaniel replied with sceptical frown.

“Truly here's a man without deceit,”
Jesus remarked when they came to meet.
     “How come you know me?
     Is surely a mystery.
You're the Son of God, and King complete!”

seeing the pink unicorn

a pink unicorn wandered past our house the other day
she had a fabulous tail and mane; I remarked on them
my husband looked out but saw nothing
I knew he wouldn’t
he does not believe in unicorns
my neighbor Princess Ann called me a few minutes later
What a gorgeous color she was! Princess Ann said.
She writes children’s books
seeing a unicorn is a daily event in her world too

For Our Age

We look good for our age, my friend remarked
And though it might be true,
Acknowledging the obvious
Appears to be taboo.

For though we could look much much worse
When you count up our years,
If you add “for our age,” that praise
Just up and disappears.

The sagging skin and wrinkles
We would banish if we could,
But since we can’t, I guess that
“For our age,” we’re looking good.

Whooooo Are You

the wise old owl said ‘whoooo’
‘tis me’ replied lady nightingale
and the owl repeated ‘whoooo’
‘open your eyes’ said lady
‘my eyes are shut, whoooo’
lady remarked ‘I told you, who is me’
sharply the owl said ‘don’t who me’
‘but it is me that is who’ uttered lady
the owl turned his head, my ears are shut’
lady fluttered her wings with disgust
‘I feel the air; I’d like to know you’
lady glanced over and bellowed ‘I don’t give a hoot”

Misjudged

Today I am disappointed
Due to an act unjust
Completely dismissed
Totally misjudged

Sometimes people are unkind
 Life somewhat unfair
All we can do is just grin and bare

Our interpretations so varied
Judgements so wrong
Not given a chance before it had gone

Implications remarked
Negative judgement conveyed
Unfair decision instantly made

Today I am disappointed
Due to an act unjust
Completely dismissed
Totally misjudged!!
