And so we live,
close in blood,
but disfigured in heart.

Flaps back hard for the midnight pines,
with one quick bolt it’s had a feed,

Thousands of umbrellas raised in unison....
Hide the heads...the inherent pain...
Despite the inconvenience & disruption...
Beneficial is the onset of rain....!

FEBRUARY FIGHT IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC
Turning home with her hold half full,
Wind picks up - raging, all the more
Fierce in its intent to smash her hull
And plunge her deep to the seafloor.
Murderous mountains of watery salt
Filled with cold hatred inside
In their drenching ice-bound assault
Make kamikaze charges along our side.
Snapping rime-heavy shrouds
Tumbling the boat in the chill peril;
Overflowing scuppers foaming in anger loud,
As, engine screaming, she regains her keel.

The ache today is strong.
I thought I saw a glimpse of you.

But soon my heart regains control;

How fortunate I was,
That I could always visit you--
If only "just because."
I feel the bruising of your loss
