Just Add Water
A happy childhood hour spent
Peering into
A few scant inches of rainwater
On hot days
Should come as no surprise.
For life,
Simply add water....

Red Rivers
A dozen red roses
bleed into rainwater
that trickles down like streams
through cracked pavement.
Pain squeezes
at her fractured heart,
its contents slowly oozing
into her body,
like red rivers....

THE RAINBOW
============

The sun is shining,
Somewhere it is rainy,
There appears an arch,
With seven colours in the sky,
The droplets of the rainwater,
Give colour to the shining sun
And makes the beautiful rainbow
To bow at every one.

The hole in the roof

Premium Member Rainwater
A rain barrel near the house
While the rain is pouring
The rain barrel catches raindrops
Filling the barrel up to the top

Rainwater is useful
It is good for gardens
Used to wash the plants
While refreshing them

Rainwater makes small pools
The birds bath in puddles
They also drink the water
Rainwater is not wasted...

Sin
under the canopy of primordial forest, a wild fern grows nestled
into the less-known path where exigencies take on diffused light
and rainwater trickles its descent, scalloping patterns of colour;
have you ever heard a fern crow with green feathers, sleek against
the sky, as if rocks could sing of joy and the only sin is not being here?...

Rain - A Didactic Cinquain

Rain
Misty, sweet
Pelting, dewing, precipitating
Ever so warmish
Rainwater

Spring rain
Droplets wet, refreshing
Delighting, happening, crying
It was a surprise to us all
Cloud

Cloudy rain
Wonderful, stripy
Jumping, swimming, rolling
Such feelings of happiness
Thing

From a Balcony In Paris
From a Balcony in Paris

Fine rain
open umbrella
Sitting on the balcony
Of a hotel
Overlooking
Haussmann-Saint Lazare.
Throngs of people
Something has changed
People drink
Starbuck
Eat hamburgers
On the hoof.
Old restaurant closed
Converted
To fast-food joints.
I sigh
Drink from the bottle
Of Bordeaux
To avoid
Getting rainwater
In my wine....

Premium Member Sorry

I am sorry.
The blue and white teapot
that was stained with green algae
and had a broken spout
and was sitting on a terracotta tile
in our garden and had, for years,
gestated life in its plump belly
of brewed rainwater,
is now in pieces, smashed
by a clumsy blow
from my rake.

It has left a hole
in the world
that I have tried,
but cannot fill.

Premium Member Earth's Care
Though the arrogance of humanity
Insists some part of it we own,
Fragile Earth on which we stand
Is given to us as a loan.
As we impose our footprints here,
May lovely blossoms show our path.
No poisons or impurities,
Just sweet rainwater for her bath.
In robust numbers we shall march
Against pollution of our land,
Treading lightly as we advance,
Trustees of globe on which we stand....

The Trees In the Cold Winter
The trees in the cold winter
Bared, but stood tall and upright
Alone, while whistled in no height
Waited for regrowth day and night

By their growing time baited
They were not dead as fact
From the intrinsic nature hide
They whistled for forceful thunder

Welcome the sunshine and the rainwater
Delighting the leaves like twittering birds
As well akin to the chasing toddlers...

The Honeyed Grandeur
Clouds are the honeycombs of skyline,
Carrying the honey-sweet droplets of rainwater.
Each time rain touches our Earth,
The taste buds of soil taste the sweetness of the sky.
Every thunder-strike on the grey clouds
Orders the sky to gift more honey
To quench the thirst of all earthlings.
Every waterbody is a wondrous honeybee
Which serves the droplets of water from the honeycombs of the skyline....

Wisdom Paints Life
My God above whose wisdom surely shows
When Mother Nature paints her glory grand.
While gilding grass beside the river grows,
The autumn trees with golden leaves, as planned,
Reflect their beauty, clinging reds and yellows.
Rainwater streams her life upon the land.
Beneath the mountain cattle comes to graze.
And thus, without the help of man, life stays.

Premium Member Waiting
The frogs are silent.
Crows fly from tree to tree
in tightening circles
and grow darker
in leafless canopies.
Rainwater beads
on abandoned webs
strung between
the thin twigs of an oak
and hang like diamonds
around the neck
of a dead queen.

What was here
is now somewhere else
and each year
I find it harder
to wait out the long months
until it comes back,
and begin to wonder
if it ever will....
