Leaves fall so softly.
All colors they do show.
How long will it take.
oh the chore I have to do.
What a mess the leaves do make.

racking of the nerves.
a bookshelf of nerves.
walk into a library of nerves.
pick a nerve.
turn it over.
read its contents.

Angst
Nerve-racking
Intensifying stressful tensions
Anguished, worrisome, troubling, sorrowful
Fretfulness

there isn't any medication
that can cure this febricity
I break out in a soaking sweat
with cold chills racking me
maybe it is the fever
that's causing discombobulation
no, I think it is just you
making my heart dehydrated

Like the wind
stars love to travel
celestial
journeying
exotic vacationers
racking up mileage.
Occasionally
a brief stopover
induces
a star to
settle down in a new place
happy as a lark.

Alright, I think I got the hang of it,
Beginning the poem with the alphabet ‘A’...
Caught on pretty quickly, didn’t I?
Dah! This is awesomely easy, man!
Ending is somewhat nerve-racking though.

AUTUMN
Arduous racking of leaves from the trees;
Ultimately gathering from down on our knees.
Turkey and tensile; soon to be here;
Uniting of families as Christmas draws near.
Maple leaves falling; by many and one;
Nature announces; that winter will come

Don't want anyone to see my tears
How could I live having so much fears
I know I am feeling alone
Every heart is made of stone
No one can know my pain
Every thing is racking my brain
Still I am smiling with a torn and bleeding heart
I want to escape out this art

After much brain racking and soul searching
Undulating feeling of anxiety and hysteria
Gathering my wits about me
Unbeknownst to my angels and demons
Summarize I did your idea of August…
Taunting us but with such an august month!

Can’t resist the love I have
That comes from loving you
Promise me that - you’re true
Never to sell
To the highest bidder
Beautiful
Pointless
Painful
It’s so nerve racking
Promise me
Comfort me
Soothe me
Come and
Rape my
heart
Come and
Rape my
heart again
It’s the only way!!

Composing in regards to a quickie,
I will leave to those Soupers more frisky.
Therefore, I shall abstain,
From racking my poor brain,
To muse upon a matter so risky!

Sitting at the gate, what a dreadful way to go.
Looking up and looking down,
When you don't really know.
Waiting for the man who has the final say,
racking your brain as it grows longer in the day.
You finally see him coming, although the lights a little bright.
He says the words that ease you so,second dock on the right.

[ I thought this poem especially apropos now with all the turmoil and fear racking America lately.]
Sheathe the unkind heart and
cage the mind's wild monkey,
and let the dogs of anger bray
only at the lonely cool moon!
For the other, too, has a soul
that seeks sanctuary, as you
do, in this cold vast Universe....

There was a woodpecker whacking,
Continuous sound nerve-racking.
Distressed in the mind,
Making my teeth grind,
Tap-tapping will send me packing.
Standing outside, I clapped my hands,
Sending him off to no-man's land.
But no, he just sat,
And started to tap.
His tapping, how will I withstand?

Falling in between family cracks
Only with shirt on your back
Sometimes life is incredibly wacked
The adults mistakes mean life is bad
Even though it’s not your fault
Racking brain with what you said
Keeping hope seems a lost cause
In time so angry you see red
Defying the odds determined to be
Someone powerful when grown and free

Hmm this thing is very confusing
But at the same time it is amusing
This thing here I can't comprehend
Will this nerve racking thing ever end?!!
Oh! Now I understand it all
It is nothing but a cold, brick wall
I don't understand why I thought it was hard
It's just as dumb as a bucket of lard!
Hey what's this thing in front of me?
Is it a bird, a plane, a bee?

The questions of life are daunting,
I search for a visible clue.
Unsuccessfully it's haunting,
And I don't know what I will do.
Racking my brain each day for hours,
I feel my resolve is sinking.
An enigma that soon devours,
I'm guilty of overthinking.
Trapped by this hopeless endeavor,
My sanity is all for naught.
I now find myself forever,
Lost in a labyrinth of thought.

Have an appointment
Waiting, waiting, long
Too many waiting
To see the doctor
All waiting their turns
One child very young
Screaming loudly
She can not settle
It is neve racking
Waiting, waiting, wait
Waiting, waiting, calm
Waiting, waiting, calm
For my turn to come
So I sit and wait
Creating this poem

Remembering you at last,
the memory had faded,
your image was well nigh jaded,
I cursed my brain,
racking each grain,
slowly you emerged,
as if sunk titanic,
had risen again,
the rust layers fell,
you shone bright like moon,
each feature handsome aquiline,
suddenly amenesia clouds gathered,
I was raided by many issues,
you were enveloped,
and your memory was lost,
before it could even develop.

The pangs of hunger
racking your every sense
dulling you from over use
is but temporary.
The slow decay
and setting rigor mortis
freezing your last stance
is but temporary.
That burning feel
of numbing digits
from wrist to finger tips
is but temporary.
The longing feel
of emptiness
of lost love flooding your heart
is but temporary.
The suspense
of this poet's thriving angst
is but temporary.

My sweet demon lover
So kind yet
So dark
Your embrace
You touch
Your kiss
I claim I am neutral
But you make me want to choose sides
The side of good
Or bad
Which one
I do not know
My sweet demon lover
Why do you torment me so?
My insides are racking
At this choice
To stay you
Or my friends
I cannot deside
And I'm sure I never will
For I love friends
But I'm in love with you
My Demon Love

I do not know?
vietnam reflections 41
when the Earth is at war
there is no Spring
no plants or children
or other living thing
the soil becomes infertile
drenched in dead and dying blood
nothing good
can come of this
the air hangs heavy
unwashed by the stagnant rains
the living miss the sunlight
which never reaches down
below the racking pains
and we trudge on through the Winter darkness
wishing for Spring again

Dionysus and his mount
both racking up quite the count
In the cave and on the run
Immune, there was only one
On a dragon from the east
The panther could never feast
In his lair he would dwell
But the dragon could not smell
No matter how hard they try
The dragon would never die
Even with a magic fleece
He was not his fancy feast

It’s almost laughable how often I’m found rotting inside myself.
Knees curled to my chest, lungs expanding and hesitating.
Sobs racking my body in violent tremors.
Silent.
Exhaling jagged breaths with trembling fingers.
You should see how exquisitely I break.
Blue eyes shimmering rimmed red, flecks of green, gold, grey.
Streaming.
Moon toned skin pink, blotched, raw.
Crimson staining cotton,
Painting the roses red.

Oh, I’ve been racking up N/A’s
that I consider unearned praise
just knowing they were viewed and read
before put quietly to bed.
The cause I find upon reflection
is oft my failure to heed direction
for I start writing in my haste
the muse, full speed, to cut and paste
I’ll miss a stanza, rhyme, or form
amidst my fevered writing storm.
I gather N/A’s now and then
and smiling, mutter, Not Again.
