Hear the notes rise
No longer is there hurt or pain

I will ignore hatred

Just let my music play

Sleeping among the ashes
Watching time pass bye
Covered by smoke, smoothed by all it's burdens
Hoping only too die
Waiting for God to make a way for me to stay awake
Lord I need a good old shake
Heaven don't let me wait

packed up and stored out of sight.
Time for starting a brand new year
as we watch the old one taking flight.

All the hopes and resolutions made 
as we greet this anticipated new year.
Prayers for health and happiness
and a world where no one lives in fear.

Push aside all negative thoughts.
Forgive unspoken apologies too.
Hold no grudges, go forward now,
for we, as well as the year, are new.

No time for unity
No time for family
No time for discovering

Always in a rush
Can't catch your breath
Ignoring your health
Only thinking wealth
Sinking deep can't get any sleep
Can't even count a sheep now that is deep
Take a step back rewind a little
Be still awhile
Observe and listen
When you are gone and alone
The world will still evolve
So don't be quick to push aside or erase
Those you truly cannot replace...

Daffodils

The ground hog now has come and gone and out there on my sunny lawn
The daffodils begin to sprout, not quite ready to come out
Then inch by inch their long green hands push aside the mulch and sand
Feeling for the sun’s warm rays to get them through these cooler days
Then all at once a head creeps out, not looking up or all about
But bowed with chin tucked in tight as if not ready for the light
Then slowly as it feels the sun, the head jerks up and Spring’s begun
