Daffodils

Daffodils The ground hog now has come and gone and out there on my sunny lawn The daffodils begin to sprout, not quite ready to come out Then inch by inch their long green hands push aside the mulch and sand Feeling for the sun’s warm rays to get them through these cooler days Then all at once a head creeps out, not looking up or all about But bowed with chin tucked in tight as if not ready for the light Then slowly as it feels the sun, the head jerks up and Spring’s begun Mdailey 2/28/12
