Swiper's Revenge

Swiper goes to the drug store of a nearby town.
Purchases ear muffs, staff, nun chakas,
and duct tape for Dora's mouth...

This Life Not So Well Shown

This life today,
just aspires positions,
breathe credit cards
and electronic transfers,
promises of debts and purchases,
debts and arrangements...
commodities and titles...
the fantasy is over
since they eliminated
the joy, when they expelled
bar customers... !

Archbishop

Alluvial prayers cast in gold

Reverence capitalized

Christianity besieged

His excellency pardons

Begging paupers of virtue

Indulgence contaminates

Seeks marble idols at church

Heaps insincerity

Onto faith and religion

Purchases circle of sins

Vanish

Can you really vanish in this day and age

One where social media haunts and stalks you

Purchases on credit cards are tracking your buying habits

Cameras are located on virtually every street corner

Your phone a geo locator of your every move

Make my day, try to vanish.

Cyber Monday

Computer consumers beware
Yahoo your search engine
Bearing no self control
Enter into your dungeon
Running to a deal like a stampede

More can never be enough
Online purchases only
Not going to give up on the
Discount on that pony
Attacking the prices with a swipe
Yuletide attitude so unripe

The Farmer's Market

The merchants rise
In the early morn
Preparing their wares
Then setting prices

The people enter
Looks around them
Selecting their choices
Before their purchases

Snack bar refreshments
To refresh themselves
Then begin again
For lots of bargins

Tired merchant
Soon ready to pack
Anxious to be home
To count their cash

Nature's Take

Less stuff means more work
to those who would succeed.
As less stuff in our lives
leaves more time that is freed.

The time to say enough!
That everything can cost.
When what comes out of nature
means just what we have lost.

Where debit's coming from the Earth
mean purchases we make.
And currency around the world's
been registered in take.

Christmas Madness

Twas a few days before Christmas, shoppers
dazed and bewildered, wandered through the store
selecting groceries from off the shelves,
paying for purchases, minds are elsewhere.
In quick succession, three people stepped out
there in front of my cart - could not stop quick
so each was hit gently, not one was hurt
just dumbfounded why I ran into them!

Next Week In Calais

I don’t know a tweet from a twitter
  Instagram and Tik-Tok? I was a quitter
I receive lots of texts, but do not send any
My hands get clammy from spending a penny…

Huh? Wudja say? – Yeah, I’m doing OK.
Went to Oahu last month; next week to Calais
My life’s insured for ten million; my wife can’t complain
She purchases bitcoin; I invest in blockchain

A Valentine Treat

Bundled for the weather
Was an old man on the street.
He pushed along a shopping cart,
His purchases complete.

I’ve no idea what things he bought
Except for, one supposes,
A treat meant for his Valentine –
A dozen bright red roses.

For love and its expressions,
Sometimes difficult to gauge,
On this date make folks affectionate,
Regardless of their age.

Money Is Welcome Everywhere

Money is Welcome Everywhere
"It's not the money, it's the stuff!" Bernadette Peters, the Jerk.
"Give me the MONEY!" Cuba Gooding, Jerry Maguire.
“Do you smell that? Money!” Paul Newman, The Color of Money
Buys us our fancy cars, fine houses, pretty mink coats, ritzy computers,
But also purchases...
groceries, gasoline, toilet paper, Sharpies and notebooks
money is welcome everywhere.

Inspiration For a Remodel

Sixteen antique serpentine arced gingerbread corners
delighting the antique seeker who had dreamed of them for years
before they were eventually yet heartily found.
Her heart leaps with happiness as she purchases
the inspiration to finally build her Victorian dream porch.
She watches the clerk wrap these sigmoid-shaped beauties,
knowing they will be the inspiration for the rest of her house.

Parcel Plastics

Provision-purchases
Prevail
Paper-bags pull-apart
Preferably
Possible process...
Endeavors
Easily executed
Ending these is
Endless
Endeavor...
Seen dead
They resurrect
Restlessly
Leisurely linger like
Spirits of sinners...
Like the flesh of creatures
Creatures cannot
Consume these
Exist eternally
As ecological errands...
Carrying them to
Carry my provisions
Continue
Intentions Immobilize
Impotently!

Pappy's Pile Pretty Papers

Pretty papers piled perfectly perpendicular
Pappy’s preference prefers papers piled properly
Patricia Pappy’s precious princess plunders pile
Pappy painfully piles papers properly precise
Precious princess packs precise papers perfectly
Pappy pondering protecting pretty piled papers
 Purposely purchases proper padlock protection
Pouting Precious Princess Patricia picks padlock
Pappy paddles Pouting Precious Princess Patricia

Save For Rainy Day

Relative of mine believes in enjoying life
Her husband earns well
But they spend all in shopping, dining and sightseeing
Lavish house well decorated
Designer clothes, car, all luxurious amenities
Their credit card is always overdrawn
Most purchases made on instalments
Few days back, her husband's right fingers became numb
Neurologist said it can be cured easily.
Operation would cost two lakh
Now she is sitting in her house clutching at straws

Smile

A smile that costs nothing
A smile that is everything
A smile that is beautiful
A smile that is fruitful
A smile that makes friends
Does'nt purchases anyhting nor lends
A smile that cheers a person
A smile that takes no time
A smile that does not need a person to be rich
And protects a person from falling into a ditch
A smile that makes a person feel light
Does lives but not dies
On every face it lies
A smile that costs nothing
A smile that is eveything.

Not-Quite-Happy Returns

A package comes, you open it
And, though it seems to match
The order that you placed, there is
A big or little catch.

It doesn’t fit or isn’t quite
The item you expected
Or maybe there’s a problem
In the way it was inspected.

You print a label, wrap it up
And rapidly return it.
If there’s a lesson there, it isn’t
Hard for you to learn it:

The purchases we make online,
Though easy, cheap and quick,
Unlike the ones in person,
Often do not seem to stick.

Different Tastes

We all have very different tastes
In books and art and food,
In where we live and what we do
To lift a sagging mood.

The way we dress, our travel plans
And when we sleep and wake,
Our politics, religion
And the purchases we make.

What’s right for me most likely
Wouldn’t work as well for you,
So each of us must choose our path
And do what we must do.

A million options wait in life
But most we will reject,
Though somehow some might overlap
And we will then connect.

Normal

We all have different “normals” –
What we eat or wear or read
Or when we sleep or watch TV
To like the lives we lead.

The jobs we do, the trips we take,
The purchases we’re buying –
Our choices all are factors
In our living and our dying.

But “normal’s” been upended
In this crisis-laden year,
With many things on hold because
Of circumstance or fear.

My normal may not be like yours
Though maybe my resistance
To getting back to what once was
Will keep us at a distance.
